This blanket was actually made for Olivia 6 years ago, but has been such a favorite that it never got packed away like the other baby stuff did. It has stayed in the living room for the 6 years and has at times been purely decorative. But I am happy... Continue reading

Oh that's right!! Used to have a job cleaning when I was in high school and we always did this, but we used to not tear the bag of the roll that way when you went to change it you just pull the bag up and the next bag follows right behind. Don't even have to bend down and pick up the roll. So easy, but I had totally forgot. (runs to but bags in bottom of trash) Thanks!!!

This reminds me why I am so happy we chose to go back to Norway before having children. I could write a five page comment on this subject but I will try to keep it short. We are blessed and lucky to live in a place where being outside is part of our nature. At my daughters daycare they spend all day outside as sure as the weather allows it they eat sleep and play outside. Here daycare is not an outdoor daycare but this is an expected thing here. There is nothing children love more then being outside, my daughters reaction to rain is always the same "yay I can jump in the puddles" We all grew up with the no bad weather saying as a way of life, and loved every minute of it. There is nothing better then coming inside after a long cold day outdoors. Thank you Meg for sharing this!!!!

Lovely hat!! Such a great idea for leftover yarn. I'm feeling inspired to do some hat knitting now. You have probably already seen this but I thought I'd share anyway. My husband keeps showing me every time it shows up on reedit (about once a week) And I laugh just as hard every time I see it!! http://lolmad.com/page/40/

Very cute gift idea. Will have to remember that for our next party. I found most photo books to be very limited in there options for designs so I did a lot of research and found a great company called Hofmann. (http://www.hofmann.es/web/hofmann/inicio ) They have the most beautiful books. Lots of choices. And they print on thicker pages not the thin normal paper most photo books have but more like a board book. Makes them a little more durable and toddler friendly. Plus you can make them with almost as many pages as you want. Quick and easy since you don't have to wait for all the pictures to upload while your designing your book. (There is a program to download.) We do a book a year.

I have always, always wanted to have goats. When I was young all my friends wanted to be nurses- I wanted to be a goat herding seamstress.... Happy to hear your dad is doing so good. And cant wait to see those goats in place. Feeling a bit of jealousy I must admit.. Do goats like it in the city?

That's to funny. Flour must be a bit hard to get down. My 3 year old has tried and failed at that but be ware the sugar container. Cant let here anywhere near that. I love cooking big. For Christmas I made lefsa and flat-bread. Pasta seems to be a spring must around here. There is nothing better then a big pan of homemade lasagna pasta included. I can recommend the flat bread though. Real nice as a appetizer with all kinds of spreads and cheeses or along with soups and stews. Buttered of cause!!!

I had a very similar Christmas tree hunt as a child. Just that we always went to an old family friends farm. He was a bit of a loner and I remember he let the sheep in his house!!! He always wore the same blue workers robe and to me he always seemed so old. (he is actually still alive and well over 90) It seemed it was always snowing and we would walk threw the forest me Mom Dad and sometimes my 2 brothers, and I was always on a mission to find the perfect tree. It was always such a highlight of the season and always without exception happened on Christmas eve. We didn't do any decorating until then as was tradition in Norway. I remember it would always make the house smell so good and it was a great way to make the day go bye a little faster before heading to my grandparents to celebrate in the afternoon. It was so wonderful....

We all need to be quiet at times. I think it is good for our spirit to just allow quiet from time to time. I think I've had about 3 quiet years now and have a while to go before I'm ready for full speed forward. Hope the rest of November will go smoothly and December will bring a new start for your family.

We are in!! All though we don't nap. In our house it is usually after breakfast of after playtime. We keep pretty busy around with all types of stuff, crafts are our favorite. Cant wait to see what everyone else are up to, can never have to many good ideas. Ps: would love some tips on how to deal with mistreating the craft supplies. We have a playdoh eater, water spiller and paint everything within your reach 3 year old......

I spy a pair of Norwegian selbu mittens in the mix there. I'm starting to also get the feeling that winter in a lot of ways will be a welcome break from all the hustle and bustle of the other 3 seasons.
