Well, I waited until the end before writing about one of my favourite pieces of entertainment ever, LOST. I watched the series finale last night. Over six seasons this primetime television drama delivered one of the most compelling fiction stories ever told. The primary creators and writers, Carlton Cuse &... Continue »

I'm still debating whether last night's season finale was the best of all possible Lost endings, partly because they gave us two endings. Many people, including the producers, have tried to say it's all about the people, not the mythology plotline, but the reality is that the plotline was as... Continue »

I think there are two obvious ways to interpret last night's action: 1. The Naive View: things are just as they were presented. Timeline 1 was the "real" world. Everything that happened seasons 1-5 happened in it. All the weird island stuff and time travel, everyone who died along the... Continue »

First, it's an apt metaphor for the entire series, in that it contains the promise of a blinding revelation, but it's hard to find, and if you do find it and try to penetrate it, it vanishes and in the process spews out all this bullshit. Second, it's open to... Continue »

Ok, so I know I JUST posted about how I'm about to enter a dark period, but just because I plan on sleeping all day and drinking vodka in my closet while listening to rock ballads from the 80s and crying until I have the perfect smudged mascara does not mean I also want to be pasty pale. I mean, it IS summer after all. Hence why I am coveting this Lancome Flash Bronzer Tinted Self Tanning Body Gel. And according to Lucky magazine, you can even use it on your face and you won't break out. Because, ew. I... Continue »

Also, you can talk all the smack you want about last night, but casting Justin Bieber as the Boy in Black was a master-stroke. Of course, it did make the kid they cast as young Jacob look like a slack jawed yokel along the lines of that blind banjo player... Continue »

Here are the ten things I hated about last night's LOST episode, in no particular order. Title deliberately designed to drive as much search, Twitter and Facebook traffic as possible. Pretty good, but as I commented, too nice. Too generous, even. Here's the same post, but with a little twist:... Continue »

I know there's a lot of hate going around about this season of Lost and in particular, last night's episode. As someone who was a fanatic X-Files watcher in the 90's and having seen the Lost guys talk a lot about not repeating the same mistakes of that show's downfall,... Continue »

I do want a 3D TV. Perhaps Lost 3D will be available in the next few years? I also must admit I am uninterested in tonight's episode of Lost. I don't care about Allison Janney (post West Wing) and I don't care about the controversial ("is it or isn't it a spoiler") role she plays. Evangeline Lilly told NY Mag it was the best episode of the year - I doubt it! Color me Lost cynical. Also, even Lilly herself admits that the Kate character has been underused: "I was sort of watching and waiting to see what would be the twist in the Kate flash-sideways story. It never came. It was interesting, I feel like on the island she became the standard by which mediocrity ... not mediocrity [laughs] ... normalcy could be measured." More: NYM: She was great on The West Wing. EV: Oh, is that what she's from? I don't watch TV. When people at my house try to talk about TV I'm like, "Ah, I have no idea what I'm talking about." There are more incredibly depressing reveals in the NYMag story: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/05/losts_evangeline_lilly.html Pundit Natalie Po says: "The writers are actually confusingly in love with Kate. That explains a lot." Sadly it does. So, yes to 3D TV, No to Lost. Continue »
