I LOVE it. Does $325 include you throwing it in the back of your car and driving it to PDX? ;)
{ the henredon chair }
Oh this little chair. I found her at a thrift store this summer. She was gorgeous. Fabulous lines, gorgeous fabric. A deliciously plump down cushion. Worn, faded, and a little stained, yes, but truly a beautiful piece of furniture. Without hesitation, I had her loaded into the back of m...
Of course I did!

I used to not be a New Year resolution person. I scoffed at the idea of needing the new year to start new habits. I thought it was setting myself up for failure. But then I read this post last year, and I changed my mind. Lori is right. Meaningful change won't happen if we don't make that decisi...
I think thats a fantastic word, especially right now for you. I miss you!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving - I hope you did too. We headed to the coast and had dinner with my dad. It was a beautiful sunny day, the food was delicious, and the quiet was just what we needed. Yesterday, the rain poured down. Jeff and I saw these toadstools while we were walking the dogs. Gu...
What Betsy and Molly said. Those belong in this house too. xo
Where the Cat Hater Makes Tiny Cat Clothes and The World Did Not End
Manny poked at my belly this morning and asked me if we were going to get another baby soon. How are YOU doing? We are good. I'm sewing cats and kittens and tiny clothes for each. They are going under the tree for Truly. I Blame Dorie. There are probably more coming. (The clothes all...
I'll send you one. Or bring it, since I'm that good at getting to the post office.
a tale of two sweaters (and a haircut)
I wrote this long, lovely post on Friday about a sweater lost and a sweater finished. And then I navigated away from the page before clicking the green publish button. And then I cried. But the post still lives in my head (probably in a more abbreviated form) so here we go again. Once upon a t...
Thanks! Almost finished with the blue one. I see a rainbow of Milos. And maybe a rainbow Milo too. I'll recover from Sullivan and try again after knitting Bedford.

I think its the quintessential toddler girl haircut. I love it. And owls are a fave.

It's hard to believe that it's been one year that Ceci has been in our lives. This sweet little girl that I couldn't imagine being without. She turned one today. I'd love to eloquently say something profound to mark this special occasion, but words escape me. I am overwhelmed with gratitud...
I love this so much. She's quite the girl and you're quite the mama. xo.
15 October
This weekend, Elisabeth swam in her first meet since joining a competitive (year-round) swim team this fall. I was blown away with how much better her strokes and turns already looked (I think watching her hero Missy Franklin this summer, really observing Missy's strokes, was a help, as well a...
Gracious, I love the idea of this book. It would get so much use around here. Thanks for the giveaway!
show me a story blog tour and giveaway
As a blogger, I get many books sent to me to review, and just when I think I've seen the best of the best, one comes along that deserves some applause. Show Me A Story: 40 Craft Projects and Activities to Spark Children's Storytelling by Emily Neuburger of Red Bird Crafts is currently that bo...
I love October. So far it's brought cooler but still sunny day and that beautiful golden light. I'm getting close to turning on the furnace, but I'm hoping to last until the middle of the month. My knitting is coming along (even with the mistake I found, and am working around instead of ripping back 6" of sweater). It's time to can some applesauce and make pumpkin risotto. By the end of the month, the rain will come, so I'm going to enjoy all of this while I can. xoxo
3 October
October, October! I'm so, so happy, my favorite month has arrived in all its golden delciousness. I know I've shared this quote before, but it's a favorite of mine, so I think it bears sharing again: “There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so p...
ooh me!! I have the pattern I guess it's time to source materials and head down to the needlework store.
Stitch along!
Last month I talked about some projects I was planning. Some of the knitting projects are well underway, or even completed. But the Winterwoods ABCs cross-stitch sampler kit, sitting prominently in the picture? Still sealed up so lonely in the package, the way it has been for months. Last nig...
Yay you! I love this post times 1 million.
5 September
I wrote a post a couple weeks ago about August, how hard it is for me, how I finally realized that I just hate it. I didn't end up posting it because I was feeling too sorry for myself about it being August in the first place. But can I just say right now, August is over! And I couldn't be happi...
Oh my - Annika is drooling over this book and so am I. It's on our "to buy" list for this fall. I'm really excited about it.
art lab for kids review and giveaway
Today I have another great book to tell you about, Art Lab for Kids: 52 Creative Adventures in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Paper, and Mixed Media by Susan Schwake. And I have a secret tip about this book to share. Its really not just for kids. Since I've been doing more painting ...
Yum! And I'm so glad to see you settling back into your life after the move. Moving is so disruptive. Remind me of this when I talk about wanting to do it.
Earl Grey tea slushy
At the end of last summer, I got the idea to make an Earl Grey tea "slushy" and spent a fair amount of time working out a recipe for it. Then the weather got cool and I set the idea aside in favor of hot tea and the coziness of my favorite season. The idea of a tea slushy seems to be seasonal ...
Thanks, Lois! When you come over, you can sit on the company side. :)
perfect is the enemy of done
I made a quilt. It's not perfect. But it is done. I was intending to do a lovely outdoor photo shoot and make a fancy blog post. After 10 days of busy life and of it living on my couch, it became clear that a real photo shoot wasn't happening. I took photos of the quilt in its natural habitat so...
