Follow you anywhere Wil! Congrats on going home again :)
Treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home.
In 2001, blogs were very new things. In fact, as much more time was spent arguing talking about what blogs even were, and where they fit into the media landscape than was spent actually, you know, writing in them. In fact, I don't even think the word "blogging" existed back then, and whenever it...
Very Funny!
Cherry Flowers and Bedroom Songs
While I was drifting off to sleep last night, a short story idea seized my mind and refused to shut up until I scribbled down enough about it to ensure I didn't lose it during the journey to sleep and back to waking. I got out of bed, made some barely-legible notes, and fell asleep rather quickl...
I totally agree with you Wil. There are several teens in my life I really really like; they are good hearted kids; but they are so so lazy. They have the brains to go places but they don't take school seriously and already think they know it all. I do remember my parents showing an interest in my education by saying "what did you learn in school today?" Id answer "nothing". But, even though I didnt think it was important i still went to school and did the homework. And now at 40 I work for myself. And try to to tell these kids today they WILL need that algebra.
a point of clarification
Yesterday, I overheard some twentysomethings complaining about how much they hated their jobs. After a few minutes, it became clear that none of them took high school seriously, and at least a couple of them had dropped out of community college because it was, in their words, "too hard." I Twitt...
My sister and I spent a lot of time at the library after school. We'd meet our friends there and usually hang out in the children's section even when we were too old because the librarians were so nice. She would help us with our homework if we needed it. All of us got good grades and I think the library and the librarians were a major reason why. They made learning easy and fun.
librarians are awesome
I was recently invited to participate in an awesome literacy project, and I wanted to share an excerpt from my contribution: I want to take a moment and say thank you to librarians, because it was a librarian who made me fall in love with reading. In third or fourth grade, part of our curriculu...
Very handsome
In which I am a proud father
"I have to tell you," Jonathan Coulton's wife said to me on the last night of the cruise, "how wonderful your boys are." "I have two daughters," Peter Sagal's wife told Anne, "and I hope this isn't weird or creepy, but I really hope they meet guys like your sons." "Dude, you know you raised your...
No Internet for a week! OMG
No seriously, have a great cruise and Happy New Year! I do hope 2011 is as great as 2010
Happy New Year. I'm on a boat.
I'm going to be on JoCo Cruise Crazy until January 8. I thought it was kind of important to stay connected, keep Twittering and blogging and Internetting while I was on a boat, but after much deliberation, decided that I will not be purchasing Holland America's Yes, We Use The Whole Fist int...
i just bought myself a christmas present. Thanks Wil!
Announcing The Day After and Other Stories
This is one of the scariest things I've ever done: I'm releasing a short collection of short fiction, called The Day After and Other Stories. Last year, I collected a few short stories I'd written and sold them as a chapbook at PAX. It was a scary thing for me to do, because while I feel confide...
Framed in Bacon no less. That to me is the best part.
what is this i don't even
Apparently, a challenge was issued on EN World that went something like this: I see your Betty White, your Bea Arthur, and Estelle Getty and Rue McClanahan, and I raise you ALL of them playing D&D with Wil Wheaton in the middle of an iconic D&D bar fight, framed in bacon… Even though I haven...

I'm liking Secret Six a lot. (DC)
ZAP! POW! OOFF! ZOK! BIFF! A post about comics and TPBs.
A couple times a year, I have to go through all the comics and trades in my office and put them into long boxes that live in the attic. When I do this, I always end up pulling out a few trades that I want to read again, so now you know what I've spent most of my discretionary (note that I didn't...
O jesus that is so funny ;)
the frozen pretzel conundrum
I am slowly but steadily finding my way back to that mysterious land where I feel motivated and inspired to write something every day. I blame Fallout: New Vegas for wrapping me up in an interesting world every night, and a giant stack of comic books that reminded me how much I love superhero st...
hysterical !
i'm mister laughypants
Sinus-related happy funtimes* have temporarily halted my plans to finish my PAX after action report. I hope to get to it by the weekend, but until I do, please enjoy this silly video my friend Greg shot, which I'm kind of in: Also, this picture taken by Heath while we played D&D. It captur...
Happy Birthday to you!
It's my birthday!
And I am having the best birthday, ever! Thank you to everyone who has wished me happy birthday on the Twitters, and if July 29th is your birthday too, happy birthday to you! (Image by Chuck Gamble, found at WIRED's GeekDad blog.)
Yes
anyone interested in a short fiction collection?
I have a question for everyone who reads my blog: if I put some short stories I'd written together into a little collection and sold it at Lulu, would you be interested? I ask this because I collected a few short stories into a limited edition chapbook for last year's PAX Prime, and it's been si...
Congrats! I just realized how strange and cool it is that I can be so happy for a person Iv'e never really met(that would be you)! It is kind of wierd though that I can be just as happy that you got a cool acting gig as I am for a RL friend who is going to have her first baby...is something wrong with me?
Eureka!
I'm heading up to Vancouver later this week to shoot an episode of Eureka! The SyFy (I know they're my new employers, but it still pains me to write that) Channel put out the following press release this morning: Actor, author and blogger Wil Wheaton of the popular television series Star Trek: ...
o yes i remember the first time i saw Akira with the Japanese voices and english subtitles i think. My boyfriend told me it was his friends and his favorite movie and didn't make me watch it. He just had it on and i was wandering in and out of the living room doing other stuff like straightening up as usual till I noticed I wanted to see the end of this movie as it had me hooked! It was unlike anything I had ever seen before.
The future is not a straight line. It is filled with many crossroads.
If you're of a certain age, do you remember the first time you saw AKIRA, or any of the Dirty Pair or original Macross cartoons? Coming from a steady diet of Hannah Barbera cartoons, it was like trading a transistor radio for a high-end stereo or seeing the grand canyon with my own eyes. The cin...
dude ...i hate parties but That One sounds cool!
Something something something awesome weekend
I had a rather ... interesting ... weekend. According to Paul and Storm on Sunday, I won the game of "What I did last night" that I didn't even know we were playing. It was so surreal, I'm mostly writing this down today so I never forget what an incredible time we had. Saturday, Anne and I were ...
so much to say!
I love The Guild (as everyone does). The finale was shocking to say the least! KoG rules (although I have the AoA shirt).
I can NOT wait for season 4 and am loving to hate your character Wil..I would like to echo what someone else said "dont break her heart " Codex character so reminds me of myself (lol).
the guild the guild the guild THE GUILD THE GUILD THE MOTHERFRAKKING GUILD
I, uh, had trouble coming up with a title for this post. Sorry about that. So season Three of The Guild wrapped up this week, and if the feedback I'm getting via Twitter and e-mail is any indication, we can make a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. Felicia has a post at her blog where she talks in a spoil...
Thanks Wil. . My friend and I make herbal tea blends and you have inspired me to re-launch our etsy store. We have both gotten so busy at our boring day jobs that we have let our creative outlet suffer from neglect.
Get Excited and Make Things!
My friend Ariana works with Warren Ellis to make all kinds of really cool things. Lately, they've been experimenting with print on demand technology to take creative risks that simple economics would have rendered impossible as recently as five years ago. For example, three weeks ago, they sta...
that is very cool! I thought the Trek movie breathed much needed new life to the franchise. I am now quite hopeful a new tv series may one day be made :)
in which a fairly major secret is made secret no more
Back in the old days, before Twitter exploded into the phenomenon that it is now, I got a message from Greg Grunberg. Greg plays Matt Parkman on Heroes (this information, which most of you don't need, is provided as a public service to the seven of you who do), and has been in every JJ Abrams pr...
wow what an experience!
from the vault: local color and flavor
This is from a post that I originally wrote for CardSquad: The Klondike is a dump, but like many dumps (I'm looking in your direction, Freemont Street) it is a charming and glorious dump, and an integral part of the character of Las Vegas. I will never forget my one and only experience at the Kl...
That was great and absolutely true too!
warning: contains satire, commentary, potty mouth.
My friend @ShaneNickerson wins at the internet. If you don't see video, try this link-o-matic click-ro-trocker right here.
That was sheer literary genius!
John Scalzi interviews a stick of butter
Because, really, why wouldn't you interview a stick of butter?
Agreed
just in case you wanted to talk about tonight's TNG reunion on Family Guy...
Very funny! I totally wanted more Trek though! Oh well better some than none!
