As you can see in this quite blurry capture of my sweet little fam's Christmas tree decorating, we survived - and really enjoyed - the holiday in our new casa. Prior to the festivities coming in full swing, I did exactly what youprobably did, dear reader. Scoped out the best deals on prezzies, shopped online endlessly, searched my noggin for ideas for those hard-to-buy-for on my list(s), baked cookies, met customers to drop off and kept my house clean for those dropping in to pick up pretties, and this year - the same as in the past - I did... This, my dears, is all I have been focused on (well, this and a few billion stacks of upcycling orders for holiday gift giving, a one-coat painted wall that must get another, easy dinners in the crock pot, oh yes, and the kiddos and our gift giving frenzy that is beginning!) Despite the desire to build in more hours into my days, I am quite excited about the party - I have a real need to sit in front of my bead buddy and make, make, make...but I also need to type, type, type...and I did work all day and... :: so many pretties, so little time! :: I have but only a minute or ten, to be exact, before I must get to after-school-snack-making, and decide what it is this household will consume for the evening meal (: But I wanted to share these new little ditties, gracing - (that is much to eloquent of a word, and lending itself to the very idea of organization on my part, and that's just plain misleading) - covering every flat surface around me. Right now, my office hosts a gigantoid desk that belongs to the family and the farm, and quite... Continue reading

My travels this week were covered with pretty blue skies.... ...roads thru tunnels of slowly-changing-to-fall-hues... ...right to the newest boutique to host my jewelry, hooray! That's Trish, the boutique owner, makin' like a mannequin...and me, center...and mia little sistah, who came from her studies in the south to hang and slurp down frozen coffees so fast we all got brain freeze. (: After this busy weekend, Trish's shop info will be in the sidebar of this blog, so watch for it! This soul sister's place is adorable and put together with unique little touches. Love it! Not to mention I... Continue reading

:: Creme de Mint earrings, $18 :: Aftera mucho relaxing, much needed break away this past weekend, this momma feels like a new woman. Aaaaahhhh. Time away, and with my Joshy. Love it. (Although I will say my rear side and sit bones (for those who do pilates, yoga) are so sore I am thankful for the grab bar next to my toilet. More on this later.) Rewind to Friday: this day came with a surprise phone call from mia Joshy: ‘Stormy, this day - well, I want you to think about where you - mommie - wants to eat... Continue reading

:: Very Cherry Vintage Necklace, $26 :: Last night, after clearing the kitchen of a dinner dishes and folding 18 loads of laundry from the weekend (why do kids insist on throwing everything they wear - if even for only 23.65 seconds - into the laundry hampers around here?) I half-heartedly agreed to my sweet man's pleas for assistance in a treasure hunt of sorts. You see, it's hunting season again (blechk. but I do look forward to our deep freeze stocked with meat) - bow season, deer, for those of you reading who have no flipping idea what huntin'... I sat down this morning to my laptop, finding it open on my kitchen table, and looked through un-contact covered eyes blearily to my kitchen: the remnants of egg roll making and a late, late dinner awaited me. My house smells like Egg Roll King. (the weird restaurant that my parents love love love to eat at - and thru the years enduringstyrofoam sectioned-dining ware and exclamations from my father that this is "The Spiciest Szechuan Beef I have ever Had!" followed with "And the Best!" I too have grown to like (like - not love) it as well.) Before... Continue reading

:: harvest :: Hello dear readers (: Oh how I miss this space here...as I type this, I remember how busy busy the past six months of our lives have been! First, moving (whew) then, Starr Strung hitting a growth spurt (simultaneous to the move, double whew), summer coming and kiddos out of school, settling into new routines of life and making our new house a home (just this week I unpacked a box of pictures I had completely forgotten about), and for me personally - understanding the delicate balance betwixt home life and my work. Just last night while... Continue reading

:: Sunshine in Fall Necklace, $38 :: For some time now, I have found myself pondering the direction in which I am travelling. Ever do that? Sort of a deep-sea, self-discovery journey, but done in a manner that requires no movement forward or backward - other than in thought - and all based on the ideals that I want to always be the best (and most fullfilled) person that I can be. To rephrase: I rarely feel I am "the best" at anything I do - although I do make a mean banana nut bread (: - but I want... Continue reading

:: view from the coffers :: Some days, I bury myself in my work by loading up the ole laptop and camera, my calendar, cords and all and I retreat somewhere away from home...somewhere I can concentrate and where there's no excuse to stop doing this and do something else. i.e.: laundry, visitors to the casa, unloading dishwasher, dinner planning, gardening. It is usually during this *selfish* worktime that I come across pictures I forgot I took...like these cutie snaps of time from the evening we spent a few weeks ago with The Arrival of Aunt Jessie. On a Friday,... Continue reading

Last week, in the midst of preparing to say goodbye to the carefree days of summer and readjusting our household (and ourselves, I will say) to the daily routines of a fresh new school year, Mother Nature decided to pay our little neck o' the woods (or farm) a visit, shaking this momma and all her good plans up for a bit. In an attempt to find my way back to the path of good intentions this evening, I convinced myself that I have caught up on laundry enough (and the bajillion extra loads that cropped up last week, read... :: me and my pops, circa 1980 :: Ever have days like the one above? No mas, I am saying. Too funny (: Here is what is going on in our neck of the woods - er - cornfields: Kitty madness. Look at momma kitty - she too is like um, no mas. It is the main attraction around here for the kiddos. Can't find them in the kiddie land o' the basement? Look no further than the makeshift, barricade of a home we made for these little fab five bitties. They are so stinkin' cute - and so stinkin'... Continue reading

:: pretty pendant piece :: Yesterday, mid-mass grocery shop (which yes, I despise doing on the good Lord's day) I remembered that the day wasn't just about spending our life savings on bundles of food stock for our ravenous household...it was my bestie Chadley's birthday!!! So, after standing in line behind a harried momma like myself (some days I really am, I am beginning to truly realize and accept this (: and looking longingly at the sparse carts of a handful of gray-haired shoppers behind me (to make it clear: I would rather have to self bag and load a... ...there are currently, three little hot and sweaty kiddos laying about, believing that a nap was a horrible idea much earlier in the day. My favorite, at the moment while I type this, is the boy with the cool rag on his head, (headache) who insists that only another round of movie madness will help him. ...there are books - in each set of those sweaty kiddie hands - that are being read ...there is not enough kool-aid to go around, but best of all, ...there is quiet time for momma - who needs to share these with you (:... :: a lateniter in my favorite place, amid jam-making, and jewelry picture takin' :: With a small break from the dog days of summer heat, my kitchen has been a buzz with activity… :: atop the cook stove :: I found a recipe for Blueberry Orange Jam, and it proved to be a combo I couldn’t resist (: :: hot water processing, past the midnight hour :: I am usually a strawberry and the occasional blackberry jam type of gal, but this year I decided to put this big nice kitchen to good use and expand my horizons (and the... :: Amber and Blue Vintage Earrings, $22. See more here! :: This summer has been a whirlwind... t-ball... family gatherings... swimming... gardening... art shows and festivals... I am certain - should you be in the same 30-something demographic as myself - you feel the same way. Summer time comes, kids are footloose and fancy free, and all mommas are busy bees. It is inevitable, I am beginning to believe. But it is all so golden warm and perfect at the same time. (: I have been a bit overwhelmed since we moved. There is so so much to do and... :: sunset...I consider a present from my Maker...on my bday :: Last week, I was driving along, biting my cuticles (nasty habit, I know), one-ear on the ramblings in the backseat, eyes blinking back the need to sleep, racking up my to-do list in my head: 1) put 15 quarts of strawberries up (make jam, for you folks unfamiliar with my gramma's lingo) 2) fill orders of jewelry and pack, ship 3) transplant remaining perennials from casa past to casa current 4) insist JC do more of his summer language workbook, as opposed to playing nonstop cowboy with his farm... :: 1930s rhinestone shoe clip, potential for cuff bracelet? I think so! :: Yesterday morning, I woke up to Mr. Moe (who likens sleeping right next to our bed, a real tripping treat if you get up in the middle of the night!) sitting with his big ole' head right on my pillow, staring straight at me. It was the opening day of the U.S. 40 Yard Sales, and this dog? Well, he stole my heart by waking me up early! And my sweet man made the day downright perfect by having coffee ready for me, a day of working... Continue reading

The fam arrived at holiday getaway point A (really point G if you count the many "facilities" we had to visit along the way) giddy with anticipation. We told the kiddos the whole trip was a surprise, but the real deal was meeting our Moe! Rescued from a loving family with life changes, he is a big (Moe..short for Monster) loving (he is piled up with us on an air mattress) new fixture for us! Hooray for successful surprises!!!
