For New Year's day, I made these blueberry muffins with big juicy organic blueberries I found at Costco using Cherryvale Farms Blueberry muffin mix in a box. I'm no baker so boxed stuff is fine with me as long as it meets my food requirements and Cherryvale really makes awesome... Continue reading

Image source We're going to have some fun today. If I could be a fictional character in an existing story, I would be Everly Thrace, the younger half-sister of Kara Thrace in Battlestar Galactica. We have different mothers but the same father. I was born on Caprica, however, dad never... Continue reading

Today's, NaBloPoMo prompt is, "If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?" As I sat and thought about it, I started drawing up a list. This is the kind of stuff Inner Perfect Girl eats up. She's like, "OH! We get to change something about us?!... Continue reading

When I got my job at Microsoft as an Enthusiast Evangelist, the reason I won the job over a bevy of candidates was because as my boss put it, I was the best at translating geek speak into Oprah speak. I could tell people in every day terms how technology... Continue reading

I saw this post on Mind, Body, Green, "25 Things I'm Still Learning" by Silvia Mordini and not only did I enjoy reading her list, I loved that she is inspired by Michaelangelo, one of my favorite artists who inspires me. So, here is my list of the things I... Continue reading

Yesterday, throughout the day on Facebook, three of my friends were talking about chips and salsa and it made me so hungry that today, I bought some organic white corn tortilla chips and made from scratch this organic plum salsa with heirloom tomatoes, plums, cilantro, and onions from stuff I... This is the continuation from Part 1: Do you have the courage to call yourself an artist? I have the heart of an artist with the training of a designer and businessperson. For a long time, I never appreciated this combination. Today, I can see how it makes my skill-set... Continue reading

At the beginning of 2013, I finally came out and called myself an artist. Publicly telling family and friends was easy but when it came to how I was going to make a living as an artist in Silicon Valley, well that took some time for me to absorb because... Continue reading

We're getting closer to the Nike Women's marathon on Oct. 20. I am so excited to run my first official half! In the meantime, here are a few things I ate this past week. Tried some new foods and got creative with other food. First up, I tried a hot... Continue reading

When I made this sandwich, I honestly had to stand back and just stare at it for a few minutes because it just looks so pretty. Normally, bacon is the star in a BLT, but in this creation the heirloom tomatoes steal the spotlight. I used yellow and dark red... Continue reading

Nice meeting you Susie! Thanks for stopping by. Hope your training is going well. This is my first half marathon as well. My only goal is to have fun and cross the finish line :-)

I love this snack because zero cooking is involved. Plus, it's low-fat, low-sugar, low sodium, vegan, and practically free of almost every allergen you can think of. And jicama is MUCH better than eating celery sticks. Dear goodness, put away the those "diet food" celery sticks. Admittedly, French fries are... Continue reading

I LOVE Figs! In fact, on my PB & J sandwiches, I use fig jam instead of jelly. Last weekend, at the SF Ferry Building farmers market, there was a farmer who was selling the most fascinating figs I'd ever seen. Please forgive me. I forgot to get their name.... Continue reading

For Meatless Monday, here is a favorite dish of mine that is simple and is a healthy veggie twist on traditional fried rice. Instead of using pork or chicken, this fried rice dish is packed with plant-based protein from organic black beans and edamame. I always stick with organic edamame... Continue reading

It's no secret I'm obsessed with heirloom tomatoes, and before summer comes to a close, I like, check that, LOVE to make salsas combining summer fruit and heirlooms. I went to the Davis farmers market and found the most delectable white plums. These babies were like sinking your teeth into... Continue reading

What a fun way to get your veggies. Beautiful isn't it? Here is the fastest and easiest way I have made flatbread. It's so simple. One piece of Naan or Pita bread (Naan looks more like traditional flatbread versus Pita, but most Pita is made vegan. You can buy pre-made... Continue reading

One of the hot local sandwich chains in the Bay Area is Ike's Place. I heard about Ike's from some friends and their Facebook page is pretty bustling with photos and love from their customers. When I first saw the menu, I noticed that the prices of their sandwiches range... Continue reading

Who knew garbanzos came in a beautiful rich green color? And since it's summer, there is a bounty of squashes like beautiful yellow zucchini. I found this Green Garbanzo Zucchini Salad in the deli section of Whole Foods Oakland. This dish is so easy, you can make it at home.... Continue reading

This eggplant dish has got to be one of the most beautiful dishes I have ever made. I actually stared at my plate for a while just to admire the beauty of Mother Nature’s creations. At the farmers market, I found the most beautiful Thai basil I have ever seen... Continue reading

I LOVE Jambalaya! I figured out a fun way to make a vegan version with an Italian twist that includes chicken and sausage. Oh yes! When I was cooking, my dad had no idea that I was using plant-based meats because the meats look so real as you can see... Continue reading

To say I am obsessed with heirloom tomatoes is an understatement. My favorite part of summer is that heirlooms are in season. I make heirloom tomato salads at least 3 times a week. I especially love to roast these tomatoes to add in pasta sauce. My salad I made pictured... Continue reading
