Recap: Sometimes grit and balls isn't enough
An epic performance by Rajon Rondo and a tremendous "grit and balls" effort by the Celtics tonight was marred by wretched officiating. I didn't want to bitch about the officials. The game was too good. But I can't stomach the bias. Just look at the photo. With the game tied at 105 in overtime...
Great post, literally everything I have been thinking and posting here. The big 3 brought Celtics fans like myself (22 years old) something I waited my whole life for: a title. We thank them for that, but its time to move on.
Cold, hard facts: The reality of where the Celtics stand right now
So we're all still a little upset over last night. I get that. It was probably the worst playoff game we've ever watched. The score at halftime was worse than some Div. 3 games. And today, we're all saying a lot of things that we may or may not regret. With that in mind, here are a few of t...
Well you previous write up was correct. This team is infuriating and extremely unpredictable. Paul comes out and looks like the Pierce of old and the rest of the guys shit the bed. As many of you said, Rondo looked like he was on a different planet. I have been saying this all along in my head but now it looks like the Celtics are thinking it too: What is the point of all this? Even if they SOMEHOW find a way to beat Miami they are not going to beat whoever comes out of the west. Look at this team, we rely on three guys (KG,Pierce,#9) to score and one of them is NOT a pure scorer (Rondo). I am a life-long Celtics fan and will NEVER love any team as much as the C's but I gotta be honest, I almost want this season and era to be over with. Enough is enough already.
Recap: Game 6 was an epic fail
I've been watching the Celtics for some 30 years and tonight may have been one of the worst performances I've witnessed. The Sixers played mediocre basketball and beat the Celtics, 82-75. The Celtics were... abominable, alarming, appalling, atrocious, deplorable, depressing, dire, disgusting, ...
KG won this series for us, flat out. Pierce was great at times, Rondo as well, but consistently KG was THE go to guy for the Celts. I think we get by philly in 6 maybe 7 but what worries me is the road after that. Look, Ray has no lift to his shot due to his ankles and Pierce looks 60% AT BEST with that knee on both sides of the floor. This "grind it out" style of play can work against less talented/smart/experienced teams like Atlanta, but WILL NOT work against Miami. We need guys to rest and get healthy ASAP. Glad we got Hotlanta out of the way though, this series was driving me INSANE.
Hawks choke late, Celtics move on behind throwback Garnett
The 2012 series between the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks, which may go down as one of the ugliest series in NBA history, came to a close tonight as the Boston Celtics defeated the Hawks in a squeeker. The Celtics will now move on to face the Philadelphia 76ers starting this Monday, but be...
The thing that infuriates me about this Celtics team is just the level of "caring" as I like to call it. They flat out did not seem to care about this game because they knew it wasn't THAT pivotal of a game. A "W" is nice, but not necessary...This has been a consistent theme with the C's all year. The lack of intensity (minus of-course KG) to FINISH games/opponents in order to make things easier for themselves moving forward. It would have been HUGE to get those extra few days off while Philly and Chicago beat each other up, especially with half the team dealing with some sort of injury.
Rondo was too passive at times but still put us in a position to win at the end so really what more could you ask for. Look, I LOVE Paul Pierce, but he 100% killed us tonight on both sides of the floor. His rotations and defense in general where awful and the offensive side was just as bad. He was not looking for his shot for the majority of the game and everyone on the floor, including the Hawks knew it. I know the guy is a competitor but he KILLED us out there tonight. Unlike Ray ray, Pauls' style of play demands a lot of touches on the ball and when he is 70% it just does not work out. Paul, do us all a favor and rest the knee so you can be healthy moving to the next round. If that means significantly less playing time or coming off the bench in Game 6, SO BE IT. The rest of the guys on this squad need to step up and finish the Hawks on Thursday!
Recap: Hawks eke out a win
That was a roller coaster game. The Celtics led big. The Hawks led big. Each team made runs over the final 15 minutes that had you thinking "we got this!" When the dust settled, the Celtics had the ball with 10 seconds remaining and a chance to win it... but Rajon Rondo coughed up the ball. T...
This blog is exactly why I think we need to keep Rondo (and I LOVE Cp3!). The guy has so many positives to his game and to trade him and Jeff Green AND a pick away for CP3 for ONE YEAR!? To me that is just too much to gamble.
Maybe CP3 gives us a better shot at the title this year but if he doesn't sign we are in essentially the same position (Big retired?/rebuilding). But I strongly feel like Jeff Green is gonna be a great player and we need to be patient with him. He is a big guy who can stretch defenses tremendously. Also, trading a first round pick (which we are going to horribly need once the big 3 go) is not a great idea either.
It just feels like we are trading in a Fully loaded Mercedes to get a bare bones Audi....
Also, maybe I am too much of a Boston sports fan but IMO it is delusional to think that we are going to get Paul and Dwight so we really need to stop planning for that.
Are teams underestimating Rajon Rondo's value?
In case you haven't noticed, Rajon Rondo's name has popped up lately in trade rumors for Chris Paul. Considering Rondo's talent and his affordable contract (4 years, $44 million), I figured he'd be a hot commodity to any GM looking for a point guard. But New Orleans' Dell Demps is not impresse...
For me, this was on the same level as the game 7 loss, not quite AS bas because of the circumstances, but it still cut deep. We now give this cocky, arrogant, imposter "Big 3" a chance to win an NBA title and prove to executives and fans around the world that buying 2 1/4 superstars=NBA title. Similar to the finals last year, we become injury plagued during the series which causes a number of "what-if" scenarios to arise...
Credit goes to Lebron for the daggers he dropped at crucial moments in this series. But at the end of the day this is and will always be D-wade's team. Love the fight these guys put up all year and during this series and thats why I will bleed GREEN until the day I die. When you put on this jersey its understood the passion, history, fight, and legacy that comes with it. Great job here guys, keep up the good work and love the blog!
Pain.
Achilles pain, elbow pain, back pain, calf pain, ankle pain. Pain. It's a word Celtics fans have grown accustomed to all season. I really did not feel too nervous going into last night's game. I don't know what it was. Confidence? Cockiness? Reserve? I just felt ready to deal with whatever wa...
"Has a coach ever been fired during A GAME!??" hahahah classic quote.
Rondo to KG gets a roar from the... road crowd?
Seemed to be a lot of Celtics fans in the Staples Center last night to catch this one... huh?
Sign Leon Powe...Cavs just waived him and guy has a hell of a heart...100% effort kind of guy and hes young...he's no perk but he can D some pretty good guys up.
Taking a deep breath, and looking at the C's moves realistically
Ok, we're all freaking out because Kendrick Perkins is no longer a Celtic. It's a jarring move that is hard to explain. Perkins has been a defensive monster and is a huge reason why the Celtics have been able to get past Orlando in the East. But at a time like this, its easy to forget a lot...
That was unbelievable...Besides the few missed shots, you almost forget how old the guy really is. We need this fire from him come playoff time!
Diesel Fueled Win Against the Pistons
For most of the game last night, the Celtics seemed a bit indifferent towards playing at their highest level. Or even their medium level for that matter. Luckily in the second half, Shaquille O'Neal decided the team needed a burst of energy. I'm not sure where it came from, but Shaq provided ...
Very well done, unless you don't a. like the celtics b. like this original song, I dont understand how you cant be a fan of this. This is also 100x better than the bears Blue and orange remix...
Could this be this year's Celtics Anthem?
You tell me. I kinda like it. Very well done to the tune of Black & Yellow.
Loved the shot, but what a Defensive effort by KG on the next play to really seal the game up.
I can't believe JRich fell for the oldest trick in the book
So there the Celtics were... game tied, less than a minute left.. the ball in Paul Pierce's hands... and one defender in his way. Hmmmm.... I wonder what's gonna happen in that situation The sun is more likely not to rise than Paul Pierce not pulling that move in that situation....
