There need to be two more bands, Roger and Out - then the three of them need to tour together.

I never played pinball much - but I played a lot of video games. If I could have any four now they would be (in order of desire): 1. Subroc 3d - sit down 2. Tron 3. Galaga 4. Centipede Everyone probably knows the last 3 very well - but Subroc wasn't as widely available to my knowledge. I never got to play it as much as I wanted.

I've read a couple news stories on this - but I really don't know much about it. I don't work in this industry, I have been a union member in the past (UFCW) but am not one now. I do have a question that I'm sure someone here can answer. This letter - is basically saying not to let everyone vote on if they should do this or not? Is that correct? Or is it saying that some subset of the union should not vote on it? This confuses me because I tend to want to let everyone have their say whenever possible and when I read the letter it seems to say that people should not even have the opportunity to choose.

You put up with a lot from all of us 'fans'. So enjoy the good that comes along with the not-as-good. And it's cool that you are so gracious - but a lot of it is your hard work too. And talent - because I would have bought the first book - but not the other two if you weren't a good author.

Whenever I see people speaking freely, enjoying their life and in general participating in the big mess of lifestyles that is America that is more than enough for me. I do like this day though to think especially of those who served when it was especially costly and are right now actively engaged in serving in various parts of the world.

I should just let this pass like so much else - but the geek in me says if the election was as close at it was and more people voted for Obama than any candidate ever that is due to more people voting than ever before. This would also mean that there is a very good chance that more people than ever before voted for his opponent as well. I know at one point in the primaries Hillary Clinton had gained more votes than any other candidate before. But the delegate system was working in Obama's favor. All that aside - I love all of the 'yeah for Obama'. It's fun to enjoy success, for me it is fun even just to watch others enjoy success. What does get old is the painting of anyone who doesn't hold your views as divisive, bigoted, stupid, etc. Although I must be stupid in a sense I continue to count myself a fan even though I get to come here and read things being said about me that are not nice. I really look forward to moving past this and not having to hear a lot of bashing of different view points for at least 2.5 to 3 years. There is so much I enjoy about your art and what you share about your life as a father and human being. I even enjoy reading different view points when you explain why you are pro something. But the negativity - not so much.

I wish I was special. I remember that deal too - but right now I'm more stuck with a song that will be in my head all day long. It started the second I read the title.

Oh - and I am sorry for posting twice - but anyone who likes Scalzi - needs to read After the Coup over at the Tor site. It is a short story set in the Old Man's War universe. Excellent story.

I'm reading Javascript: The Missing Manual right now and it is very good. I am waiting on my copy of The Last Colony (paperback) to arrive from Amazon. I love the OMW universe also - but I am a bit behind as I haven't been able to cost justify the hardback editions. They are definitely worth the wait though. In the meantime I've been slogging through all the free e-books tor made available earlier this year.

Dancing Barefoot is a great book and it is so cool that you are putting it out there- not just because of the ways that it can benefit you - but because it can benefit others. There are a lot of us out there- middle-age-ish dads, and moms. We grew up in those times and while we weren't on the cast of STNG, we watched it. And we've got the same types of dreams and fears and doubts and hopes. I was incredibly impacted by the book. It really encouraged me to just step out and do some things- not because I'll get famous or rich but because I loved doing it, I'm proud of what I created and it gives me joy just to know I did it. Hopefully I'm not coming across too fanboyish but of your three books that one hit me the hardest. It was just so different from anything else I've read. The others are really good too, but that little volume is of great importance to me and I'm glad for anything that makes it more available to everyone out there.

Car Wars was so cool - and affordable. And I liked playing with the little cardboard car things. Just the other night my wife and I were cleaning and I found an old sketch book of mine. When she saw my highschool drawing of a van with heavy machine gun she was worried and I got to explain Car Wars to her.

The Depeche Mode covers of route 66 are all genius. no - make that GENIUS. There is a new O'Reilly book out called "Intellectual Property and Open Source" and it is incredibly awesome. Could be the most important book I've read all year. Anyway - in the back on the page behind the colophon stuff they have one of those "if you like this you might like..." type deals and Just A Geek is the second book on the list. Nice.

That's nice that you get to write that intro. I put in an entry for his little contest to get added to the book, but frankly my attempt at hate mail was weak compared to a lot of what else was there. OT - but have you seen the new hasbro millenium falcon toy that is 30% bigger than the old one? I think about that ship every time I read your piece on picking out Star Wars toys. It was the one Star Wars item I wanted but could never afford.
