Control at the Top is for pantyhose only! A friend recently said that 1+1=3, not in math but in ideas. The more you are open to listening to others you can accomplish so much more than you can on your own. I totally agree. The mastermind of three very intelligent women can move mountains. The right of Spring cleaning, where did it come from? We as humans are not good with change and we love our stuff. We collect it, we keep it in boxes and we move it from place to place. We however make an attempt in the spring to get rid of some of it. Is it because we are cooped up with it all winter and we are tired of looking at it? Or is it because we some how feel we need a change? Continue reading

What does age have to do with it? I have a group of women friends and we are as they say "women of a certain age." In the neighborhood of 45-60 and the discussion has been lately around jobs, business, self promotion and money. Our beliefs around these issues and how those beliefs came to be. Continue reading

In speaking with Deborah today,I may end up with a follow up post to this. Talking about our conversation around women of a certain age. Thanks for your kind response. HUGS!
We give away our knowledge, and we just assume that everyone knows everything we know. STOP! You have worked hard, gone to school, learned from every job you ever had, read to learn even more and now you assume that EVERYONE knows what you know. WRONG! Continue reading

Now add being an artistic type and all that comes with that. As artists we are not known for being good at selling ourselves or our ideas. We are for the most part very Introverted. We are not great at scheduling ourselves and our work habits, well lets just say we aren't very consistent. We have a difficult time with the whole networking thing and speaking in public: "Oh help!" Bruce: Thank you as well for the history lesson. Maybe just maybe in our life times we can hope that our lovely plush comes home to be produced. We do have some small bear factories here, that have been producing plush for years. It is after all about the safety of our children. That is why these lovely buddies aren't made in huts any more. When we give our children and grand children a buddy that they may likely have for years, we want it to be their pal, a friend they can rely on. Just imagine a world of no safety recalls and lost buddies. How great a change this would be. Thank you again.

At the time it was thought best to switch kids to using their right hand. It is a right handed world. I was reading an article that said researchers studying Polar Bears discovered that they primarily used their left paw (Hand) and they found this to be a strange anomaly. Continue reading

Thank you Judy, Leslie and Mark for your wonderful responses. Leslie, I told you I had an idea for a blog post when we met today, I wasn't kidding. These things just pop into my brain. Mark, I am so glad you made the decision to move west. Mostly for the selfish reason that I got to meet you and we became friends. Judy, I never knew I had a twin sister from a different mother and I am so very glad you made the moves you did as well.

I have one I was given for when I went to college. It was a paperback version. It looks like it has gone through a few bouts of hell, but I still have it and use it to this day. But I do have to say that I love dictionary.com too. Because of the attached Thesaurus it makes writing easier for me. The love of the dictionary in any form was instilled at an early age and I am thankful for that.
Even with all of this help you still need to ask the right questions. This is what I have had problems with as of late. If you don't know the right questions, you may get off track. In running a small business you sometimes need answers, but getting the question right is a bit like playing Jeopardy. Continue reading

Warren, I still get nervous speaking in public. Every time I face a new group of students at the college I get weak in the knees and a bit sick to my stomach. But after I get moving it is not so bad, I hope with enough practice it won't take time to get moving each time.
Thanks for your comment Diane. I find it funny that our group has so many commonalities of experiences and as we get to know one another we find out just ho much we have in common.
Well it was time for the first tournament and we boarded a bus for Phoenix on Friday night. We got to our hotel and it started to sink in that this was not a pleasure cruise. I had to go and perform. I spent that night curled up on the bathroom floor in a fetal position, sick as a dog and scared out of my mind. Continue reading

So this year my tree is about light and love. A silver ornament tree with white lights a ornaments that reflect that light. The decorations are simple with crystal angels, and a musical piece that reminds me of the "Silent Night Angel" we had growing up Continue reading

We are all formed in one way or another by the people we meet along a lifetime. We can take their wisdom or their pain. We can use these experiences to move us forward or hold us back. But whatever our experiences are they are ours alone. Continue reading

It has made me reflect on what I have done. Then I started to feel my age, an experience I was surprised by. This reflection of accomplishments, experiences, joys and to some small degree regrets caught me off guard. Continue reading

My family would say I was Lucy, but I identified more with Peppermint Patty. Why you may ask? Lucy was confident, she knew all of the answers and she was great at asserting her authority. While Patty was loud and Tom boyish, she was hoping against hope that know one would figure out who she really was, scared. Continue reading

Leslie: It was odd that your theme of darkness struck a chord. I have these days sometimes I call "Blue". They are days you wake and for no reason it seems you are sad and very blue. They don't strike often but when they do...they can go far into the dark. Your card this week captures that "blue" feeling very well. I am encouraged however to know that these days are a rarity and that they pass quickly. The thoughts of going inward to find light really sum up the feelings well. Thank you for your thoughts and your creativity.

What if we took time to step back and remember the magic of it all. Catching those first flakes on our tongues, trying to pack whatever we could into a ball to throw at our brothers and friends, and building the first of the season snowman. Continue reading
