A friend recently said that 1+1=3, not in math but in ideas. The more you are open to listening to others you can accomplish so much more than you can on your own. I totally agree. The mastermind of three very intelligent women can move mountains. Continue reading

Reflections on/of Spring Cleaning
The right of Spring cleaning, where did it come from? We as humans are not good with change and we love our stuff. We collect it, we keep it in boxes and we move it from place to place. We however make an attempt in the spring to get rid of some of it. Is it because we are cooped up with it all winter and we are tired of looking at it? Or is it because we some how feel we need a change? Continue reading

Women of a Certain Age. - Why is it hard to ask for what we are worth?
What does age have to do with it?
I have a group of women friends and we are as they say "women of a certain age." In the neighborhood of 45-60 and the discussion has been lately around jobs, business, self promotion and money. Our beliefs around these issues and how those beliefs came to be. Continue reading

Are We In or Outside of the Box? Who Put us There?
In The Box I think that sometimes we put ourselves in a box and forget we are multi-talented and very intelligent beings. We define ourselves as being one thing, when most of us have multiple accomplishments we have achieved in our lives. In the past month I have started to think about this lon...
Are We In or Outside of the Box? Who Put us There?
We give away our knowledge, and we just assume that everyone knows everything we know. STOP! You have worked hard, gone to school, learned from every job you ever had, read to learn even more and now you assume that EVERYONE knows what you know. WRONG!

Bruce:
Thank you as well for the history lesson. Maybe just maybe in our life times we can hope that our lovely plush comes home to be produced. We do have some small bear factories here, that have been producing plush for years.
It is after all about the safety of our children. That is why these lovely buddies aren't made in huts any more. When we give our children and grand children a buddy that they may likely have for years, we want it to be their pal, a friend they can rely on.
Just imagine a world of no safety recalls and lost buddies. How great a change this would be. Thank you again.
Factory Innovation Changes the Face of Plush
Long ago all plush toys were made in a place far, far away (50 years ago or so, and in Korea, specifically). They were sewn together in huts, I suppose, not even in factories. Thus, white plush toys were not available - they were all brown or some other dark color because they all arrived at r...

Thank you Judy, Leslie and Mark for your wonderful responses.
Leslie, I told you I had an idea for a blog post when we met today, I wasn't kidding. These things just pop into my brain.
Mark, I am so glad you made the decision to move west. Mostly for the selfish reason that I got to meet you and we became friends.
Judy, I never knew I had a twin sister from a different mother and I am so very glad you made the moves you did as well.
Everything Happens for a Reason - Life Lesson #3
They say that "Everything Happens for a Reason" whether or not you believe this, this ismy take on it. I do believe this to be true and here's why. In my lastpost of 25 things to know about me, #6 My Dad died when I was 11. So up until recently I understood this to be just another event in my ...

I have one I was given for when I went to college. It was a paperback version. It looks like it has gone through a few bouts of hell, but I still have it and use it to this day.
But I do have to say that I love dictionary.com too. Because of the attached Thesaurus it makes writing easier for me.
The love of the dictionary in any form was instilled at an early age and I am thankful for that.
Life Lesson #2 - Never Stop Learning
ME: "Mom, How do you spell _" . MOM: "Look it up in the dictionary" This was a regular occurrence around our house growing up. We had a dictionary for every kid and one giant one that was in the family room. My parents wanted to make sure that we would learn things and mostly they wanted us to ...
Life Lesson #2 - Never Stop Learning
Even with all of this help you still need to ask the right questions. This is what I have had problems with as of late. If you don't know the right questions, you may get off track. In running a small business you sometimes need answers, but getting the question right is a bit like playing Jeopardy.

Warren, I still get nervous speaking in public. Every time I face a new group of students at the college I get weak in the knees and a bit sick to my stomach. But after I get moving it is not so bad, I hope with enough practice it won't take time to get moving each time.
Life Lesson #1-From behind the podium.
What we have done. In a discussion recently a friend said that he needed to remember that not everyone knows what he knows. I suffer from this as well, as I am sure most of us do. We sell our selves and our experiences short. We don't list our accomplishments and we don't let others know how we ...
Thanks for your comment Diane. I find it funny that our group has so many commonalities of experiences and as we get to know one another we find out just ho much we have in common.

Life Lesson #1-From behind the podium.
Well it was time for the first tournament and we boarded a bus for Phoenix on Friday night. We got to our hotel and it started to sink in that this was not a pleasure cruise. I had to go and perform. I spent that night curled up on the bathroom floor in a fetal position, sick as a dog and scared out of my mind. Continue reading

An Homage to My Heroes.
My family would say I was Lucy, but I identified more with Peppermint Patty. Why you may ask? Lucy was confident, she knew all of the answers and she was great at asserting her authority. While Patty was loud and Tom boyish, she was hoping against hope that know one would figure out who she really was, scared. Continue reading

Leslie:
It was odd that your theme of darkness struck a chord. I have these days sometimes I call "Blue". They are days you wake and for no reason it seems you are sad and very blue. They don't strike often but when they do...they can go far into the dark.
Your card this week captures that "blue" feeling very well. I am encouraged however to know that these days are a rarity and that they pass quickly.
The thoughts of going inward to find light really sum up the feelings well. Thank you for your thoughts and your creativity.
Card of the Week: Dark
Definition: absence of light; absence of moral or spiritual values; an unenlightened state; causing dejection; showing a brooding ill humor Dark is a place we all need to dive deeply into once in a while to find our luminescence deep within. Dark is quiet and empty and without pulse. Its gri...
