My friend Gina and I sometimes wish our homes looked something like creative store displays or showrooms that we've seen. My list of retail-room-inspiration with an industrial chic edge would include these locations. Photographer Paulina Arcklin took beautiful photos that captured this Amsterdam store called Good Genes and this Garage Bar in Sweden. If the designers of Good Genes and the Garage Bar would design my home, I'd be thrilled! Pretty sure neither designer does house calls to the States, but one can dream! About the Parisian home of Florence: "From her top floor, typical Parisian apartment situated at the foot of Montmartre, she can nearly touch the clouds. Because what she loves is when the sunlight breaks through the walls and explodes in your face to magnify the white. Florence loves this immaculate white and she has it everywhere, from the old ceramics in her kitchen, to the linen sheets in her bedroom and the teepee she has built in her lounge for her children. She cares for her interior with a passion and it makes you want to do likewise." via The... Continue reading

Those sound quite handy! I bet you'd find a lot of useful products in Meg's store. I just ordered some non-paper towels and can't wait to use them!!

A "newly decorated apartment proves that style doesn't have to come at a price. Sure it's small, but creative touches — like using wooden shipping pallets as a bed frame — will easily inspire your own affordable updates." I'm a fan of the brick wall, all the light, and the color choices! See the full tour here. Continue reading

Bea Johnson of Zero Waste Home lives a lifestyle based on experiences not belongings. She states, "Since embarking on the Zero Waste lifestyle, our lives have changed for the better: We feel happier and lead more meaningful lives, based on experiences instead of stuff. My goal is to share its incredible health, financial and time saving benefits!" Bea's blog is informative and her book an excellent read. Reading Bea's book had me looking for reusable products here in the Midwest and was delighted to find an online shop of products created in a nearby town in a cute studio! "An... Continue reading

Maybe you don't care about your possessions sparking joy and you think thanking them for a hard day's work is silly. Maybe your left-brained self would rather focus on the bottom line. Well guess what? Your clutter is costing you money and I can tell you exactly how much. Do this simple equation. Do the math! Space is a limited resource, just like money. Now that you know what each square foot of space is costing you in actual cash, you might be feeling much more motivated to stop wasting it storing stuff you don't need. Marie sparked this concept...
