The article itsef isn't that long, it's more of the comments that are important. Most of the LGBT suffer from bullying and abuse at some point of their lives. If the LGBT teens read the stories by us (the people who survived), maybe then they'll hold on. That's why websites like afterellen.com are so important.

Slava is so cute :). Vania's adorable as well, now that I'm not bitter about last year's USO. At the beginning of the year I had high hopes for Slava after seeing her in the Hopman Cup. My hopes may be wrong for her in singles but it's definitely right for her in doubles ;).

Not beautiful enough? Are you kidding? Bepa is gorgeous and those eyes can kill people (in a good way). Rooting for Bepa to win the USO but knowing Sam's tendency to lose to the eventual champions....we'll see. Lets do this, Bepa :)

I think most of us were like that on the day. The loss was expected but the "YOU ALMOST HAD IT!"-ness of the match makes it so much harder. A stupidly optimistic, jinxing side of me thought she actually had a chance of winning the whole thing. Damn you, jinxing side. But hey, great result from Sam. I know most people weren't actually expecting much from Sam before the tournament started so she at least proved them wrong. She also proved that she can play against quality players like Lena off clay and still win. Absolutely gutted that she lost, especially after her match against Lena but at least the feeling isn't as bad as when she lost the RG final. She didn't have as much chances in the RG match as in this match but the feeling of what could have been was worse. So in comparison to that, this isn't too bad yes? Corgi corgi corgi, oi oi oi!

Being me, I noticed her flirting with Vika before I noticed her flirting with anyone else. Eek.

Never did understand why people said she's emotionless. Even when she's wearing her sunnies she shows tons of emotion. Absolutely love it when she doesn't wear her sunnies though. Gorgeous eyes. And that last pic? Made me giggle uncontrollably :)

I agree with Tim - I was hoping that both players would somehow lose as well. Roddick just annoys me after 2009 Wimbledon and Tipsarevic...well I have a thing against a homophobic misogynist.

Meeting the family already? Didn't know you guys were that serious ;) Anyway, thanks for blogging about Sam so much. It's always awesome to see the family in the pictures. Makes her seem more human and less of "Oh she's just a tennis player".

My condolences to Ana fans. I've never been a fan of hers but seeing a player getting injured when she finally starts to play relatively well again just plain sucks.
