But I've enjoyed reading *that* many posts about Sam Stosur :).
You being hired as a full-time tennis blogger is very, very well deserved. That sense of humour, that frank writing, that ability to say what you want seemingly without a lack of fear of how people may react - this has all lead to very interesting writing. I'm sure you'll do well and hopefully they mean it when they said they'll give you the freedom to cover it however you want to.
I found this blog by googling "I stole a food tray from Roland Garros". I stayed here from 2009 onwards because frankly, Forty Deuce is awesome. All the best. And please, never stop writing about a certain charming, headcasey Australian.
Programming Alert: Major Label Debut.
And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool On the road, there's always this And if I'm sewn into submission I can still come home to this Man. The world is weird. And sometimes, it can surprise you. I've been hired by SI.com as a contributing blogger. This post has been, oddl...
So cute. That's all I can say after seeing Dani's smiling picture.
Always. Be. Closing.
Or at least do it once. Just to see how it feels. In a result that in surprising, unsurprising, expected, and unexpected, Dani dumps out Caro 61 63. Sure, that looks like a straightforward scoreline, but this is Dani and Caro here. Dani was actually up 4-0 in the second set before Caro fin...
Good excuse to get drunk in the middle of the day, I suppose. I'll just go cry now.
Hurting.
And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt.
It was pretty amusing when Iveta just starting laughing when they shook hands. Oh, to be a fly on Sam's hat. Or something.
Pic This: I Am...So Confused By This Picture.
Sam laughing? Iveta smiling? Sam in separates? WHAT IS THIS RAPTURE? (Pic: Getty)
There should be something for her after her very last match in the Fed Cup, no? Man, I'll cry if I see Sam saying goodbye to Stubbsy. Sam/Stubbsy was my favourite doubles pairing like...ever.
Stubbsy Cries? Stubbsy Don't Cry.
Stubbsy says farewell after 22 Australian Opens. She'll play Fed Cup against Italy next week and then call it a career. She's been killing it in the commentary booth here for Channel 7. Really looking forward to seeing her around tennis. You know she'll always be laughing it up somewhere. The...
I love you for saying that, Curtis. I'm biting my nails with nerves at the moment watching Sam vs Kvitova and reading someone thinking she'll win the match is calming it somewhat :p.
Saturday OOP: AND I'M FREAKING OUT.
I'm making this really pathetic and annoying whiny noise right now. I'm just so worried. Here's your OOP. Moose vs. GGL: WHY DO I PICK PLAYERS WHO ARE SO JEKYL AND HYDE??? This is starting to get into that part of Grand Slam tournaments where I start to worry that Andy shows up and plays cr...
Slava's gorgeous. She looked absolutely amazing last year at the Hopman Cup Ball as well.
Pic This: Better Late Than Never.
Pics from the New Year's Eve Hopman Cup Ball have been posted and, as expected, they are glorious. Laura, her family, and what looks to be a diamond encrusted Snitch. Lleyton having a good time. Slava rocking the shit out of her dress. Love the hair, too. Sex hair! Justine. I think...
Oh my. Thank you, C Note. I adore you for this.
Pic This: What Up, ABS.
Like whoa. Oh, and there's video, too: Nice use of Adele, Nike. (Thanks, @thedoublebagel)
What can I say? A little silliness wins me over every time ;). And yes, I lost the fight for Franny's attention to a seal. Sad :(.
Pic This: If You Were On The Fence Before, This Picture Solves Everything.
Stop it, Fran. STOP IT. Don't stop. (Pic: Fed Cup site)
No offense meant. It's just that I'm usually too focused on Sam to notice other tennis players so I find it odd when I do notice them.

She looks oddly attractive to me in this picture. Oh, the confusion!

Vera was always really hot. And flannel shirts on a girl? Yum.
Doha 2010: Tuesday OOP
Play begins tomorrow at 5pm local time. Here's hoping JJ wears clothes. First up is new world #2 Bepa vs. an already whining about injury and fatigue JJ. JJ's just going to go out there and try her best, you guys. The two have a 6-6 H2H but you have to like Vera in this one. Reports fro...
Sam, Dave and "ballgirl". Love those three.
Leather! SoloVera! Petko!
Minus the 20 second Caro montage, I feel like the WTA made this video just for me. PS: Ana knows that you're supposed to hit the ball on one bounce, not two, right? You just never really know with her.
Nope, it definitely should have been Sam. She's our girl, after all.
Ack! Leave Sam Out of This!
As tennis fans and players limp toward the finish line that is the 2010 season, I'm already looking forward to the sunshiney happiness of Melbourne. Bring it on. Also, can we all pretend Sam doesn't exist please? Thanks.
Relating to the "It Gets Better" project - http://www.afterellen.com/people/2010/09/ellen-degeneres-speaks-out-against-bullying.
The article itsef isn't that long, it's more of the comments that are important. Most of the LGBT suffer from bullying and abuse at some point of their lives. If the LGBT teens read the stories by us (the people who survived), maybe then they'll hold on. That's why websites like afterellen.com are so important.

Serena's lost $1M for missing too many mandatory events. So if she pops off in pressers about the effects of the recession, I will be setting my stun guns to blast. Bloggers vs. Journos. Sure, that's hockey, but let's not pretend there's no tension in tennis either. We're just more gentlemanl...
I sorta wish Stubbsy was there though. Can you imagine Stubbsy with a sword? Pure awesomeness.
The WTA Fucking RULES. I Don't Care What Anyone Says.
The best part might be how fucking scared everyone looks when JJ has that sword. Well, that and trying to pick out all the faces in the crowd. What up, Eva!
Kimiko. I love that name. And I wish I'll look that good when I'm 40.
Regarding Sam, what on earth are you talking about? I don't think she even played. I think she just went to Tokyo to drink some sake and grab some dinner before flying off somewhere else. Classy.
Queen of the Hill.
Kimiko-Tan, you are out of con-fucking-trol. A day after she bounces Masha she celebrates her 40th birthday by advancing to the third round after Dani refused seconds on another bagel and retired, 26 60 40, with a right shoulder injury. That was one hell of a birthday present, Dani. Did Ai ...
Slava is so cute :). Vania's adorable as well, now that I'm not bitter about last year's USO.
At the beginning of the year I had high hopes for Slava after seeing her in the Hopman Cup. My hopes may be wrong for her in singles but it's definitely right for her in doubles ;).
The Best of The Rest
While the singles champs gave us a lot of warm fuzzies, there were a bevy of great stories unfolding on the outer courts as well: How about Vania and Shveddy?!? They had to endure an ill-timed rain delay that stopped the match in the third set at 4-5, 0-15, on Vania's serve. But they wer...
Not beautiful enough? Are you kidding? Bepa is gorgeous and those eyes can kill people (in a good way). Rooting for Bepa to win the USO but knowing Sam's tendency to lose to the eventual champions....we'll see. Lets do this, Bepa :)
BOOM. Did I Just Blow Your Mind?
When I was in New York I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to someone in Bepa's camp. I told them that she looked fantastic in that NYTM piece and that the fans really loved it. He was surprised (a) to hear that Bepa had fans and (b) because according to him she doesn't think she's be...
I think most of us were like that on the day. The loss was expected but the "YOU ALMOST HAD IT!"-ness of the match makes it so much harder. A stupidly optimistic, jinxing side of me thought she actually had a chance of winning the whole thing. Damn you, jinxing side.
But hey, great result from Sam. I know most people weren't actually expecting much from Sam before the tournament started so she at least proved them wrong. She also proved that she can play against quality players like Lena off clay and still win.
Absolutely gutted that she lost, especially after her match against Lena but at least the feeling isn't as bad as when she lost the RG final. She didn't have as much chances in the RG match as in this match but the feeling of what could have been was worse. So in comparison to that, this isn't too bad yes?
Corgi corgi corgi, oi oi oi!
Hope Doesn't Float. It Sinks In Your Gut And Leaves You Depressed For Days.
It's been 48 hours since this match. In that 48 hours I got drunk, fought a hangover, endured what was the worst eight hour, two flight/one layover, coast-to-coast trek home, and a day of absolute lethargy. I've sat down to write this post three times, each time giving up after staring at a ...
Being me, I noticed her flirting with Vika before I noticed her flirting with anyone else. Eek.
Caroline Wozniacki Sitting In A Tree. Oh, Wait...
Again, if you're not on Twitter, I get it. But far be it from me to let this slide. Caro is like, an insanely good Twitter-flirter. And, not to imply anything, but she's the village bike of the tennis Twittersphere: Everybody gets a ride: Fer: Nole: And of course, The Tall One: Car...
Never did understand why people said she's emotionless. Even when she's wearing her sunnies she shows tons of emotion.
Absolutely love it when she doesn't wear her sunnies though. Gorgeous eyes. And that last pic? Made me giggle uncontrollably :)
Pic This: Stoic? Sam? Surely You Jest.
It's kind of funny when Sam doesn't wear her sunglasses. You actually get to see what the heck is going on behind them. And it's awesome. This one's my new desktop background. Because it made me choke on my Vitamin Water.
I agree with Tim - I was hoping that both players would somehow lose as well. Roddick just annoys me after 2009 Wimbledon and Tipsarevic...well I have a thing against a homophobic misogynist.
"Janko, Janko, Janko! Oi Oi Oi!"
What a night on Ashe. I wasn't even supposed to be there. I didn't have a ticket to the night session but lucked into one thanks to some friends. So there we were, up in Section 309, row O (translation, high up in the upper deck) drinking beer and occasionally cheering on Tipsy, who I'm not...
Meeting the family already? Didn't know you guys were that serious ;)
Anyway, thanks for blogging about Sam so much. It's always awesome to see the family in the pictures. Makes her seem more human and less of "Oh she's just a tennis player".
Meet The Family.
After Dinara's loss, I had a bad feeling about things as Sam took Armstrong. Hahaha, US Open organizers. Nice court choice. Don't think the irony is lost on me. Bastards. From the minute Sam took the court I was pretty much yelling my head off. I had to make a good impression because he...
My condolences to Ana fans. I've never been a fan of hers but seeing a player getting injured when she finally starts to play relatively well again just plain sucks.
UPDATED: FUCK!
It was supposed to be a true test of Ana's form after a resurgent week made her a topic of conversation and marginally relevant again. Instead, her body gave out four games into the match. After stepping in to try an put away a short forehand down the line, Ana hit the shot, immedia...
