Wil, I have to tell you... this show series has been really awesome for me. I've always wanted to really get into the tabletop games, but I really didn't want to have to be thrown in with experienced players and struggle to learn and keep up during play. Being able to sit at home, watch these and get a better understanding for the games and how to play them, without having to feel like such a newb, has been amazingly helpful!
I'm totally excited to get some of these games and start playing them now! I just need to find some friends that are actually in the Phoenix area now.
*Maybe* I won't be too shy to get into a game with you at a con somewhere now even. ;)
Also, I love seeing Anne more! Even if/when she is destroying boards... she's still totally adorable!
Tabletop's Castle Panic Gag Reel
This whole thing makes me laugh a whole lot. Thanks for watching! Hope you get to play some games with your friends this weekend, because that's what I'm doing on Saturday. Yaay!
We are getting carpet replaced in our office, so we had to move out all the furniture. I didn't realize that my cats were such dice hoarders, but apparently they are trying to be in the running with you for biggest dice collection. I think fuzzy dice still count when it's just cat fur fuzzy right?
She rolled a sixteen. Good for her!
When Ryan was a Junior in college, he moved to a place where he couldn't have cats. Anne and I agreed to foster them until he took them back. That was nearly three years ago. When he moved across the country for his job, we officially adopted the cats we'd been fostering for years. Ryan misses t...
This is fabulous! I can't wait to see it. =)
Btw, what ever happened to the behind the scenes live streaming video idea? Just curious. They sounded like fun!
About the writing of the Fawkes issue of The Guild
I thought it may be interesting to some people to know a little bit more about how the Fawkes comic came together. When we were up in Vancouver for Eureka, I was always bugging Felicia to come hang out with me and Neil Grayston, or to get out of our building and have an adventure. More often tha...
Totally agree with you... I've done exactly the same thing!
Eureka: Up In The Air
Last night's episode of Eureka, Up In The Air, has my favorite moment of the entire season in it. I don't think it played as clearly in the edit as it read in the script, but it's when Carter gets so incredibly excited for a traditional bank robbery investigation, and then finds out from Andy th...
I feel the same way, so apparently there's at least 3 of us that think the same way. I wonder how many more?
The Art of Being Furiously Happy
My wish for today is that everyone watches this, and gets inspired: The Bloggess is amazing.
I recently stumbled upon the Bloggess, and I haven't laughed so hard for a long time! I have some of the same struggles that she does as far as anxiety and such, so it's amazing to see what all she can accomplish, and that she can still be an inspiration to so many others. She's amazing for sure!
I totally made my husband watch this video, so perhaps he will be a bit more tolerant of my random craziness, silliness, and spontaneous situations that I get myself (and him) into. It may be working... but I think I should find a giant chicken just to be sure...

I've seen this one a few times for sure, and it's always worth reading again! =)
Because it's become a yearly tradition, here's a story about fireworks
I've written hundreds of thousands of words over the years, but this remains one of my all-time favorites, so I like to revisit it every year. It was originally written and published on July 5, 2002, which usually feels like years and days ago all at once, but this year actually feels like a lif...
Holy carp! I'm so glad to see you'll be selling the complete works this weekend! I have all of your books, now all signed from various seeings of you, but I wants the collection for all the audio/video in one spot.
Can't wait for Storytime with you, and the chance to get the works dvd! Woooo!
Have a safe trip, see you tomorrow!
My 2011 Phoenix Comicon Schedule
This weekend, I will be at the Phoenix Comicon. I think this is my third or fourth year attending, so I've been able to watch the con expand (the vendor's area this year could hold the entire con the first year I attended) without losing its soul, or all the things that make it awesome. I am qui...
Wil, thank you so much for posting this!
My mom has CD, and it's been a pretty interesting few years since she found out and changed how she eats.
There really is not enough people out there that are aware and informed. That's been proven a lot of times, especially when we take her out to eat and she tells the server that she can't have anything with any form of wheat in it, and they tell her "that's fine, we have white bread too!", or they roll their eyes at her when she has to send back a salad because they put croutons on it... or any one of a far too high number of incidents that I have seen.
I know how many readers you have, and I for one am so grateful that you are putting this here for that number of people to see and read and become more aware of CD and everything that comes with it.
Kudos to you!! Thanks from me and the most awesome, important woman in my life!
and now, a word from my mother about celiac disease
When we were kids, it seemed like my sister was always sick. By the time we were in high school, my brother and I were convinced that she was the best con artist of all time, regularly convincing our parents that she just couldn't go to school, and could she please have some pudding. Well, as it...
"She can’t eat out at a restaurant again for the rest of her life."
Umm what? Yes she can! There are a TON of places now that have completely GF menus, and it's not hard to find them. Most are listed on their websites, some you have to ask for... but it's not anywhere near impossible to go out to eat.

I am traveling for the holidays starting tomorrow... so my flight will be taking me farther away from my copy of the book that is on it's way here. I should have had it shipped to my future in-laws house! Now I must suffer a weeks wait to be able to enjoy my Christmas gift to myself.
Darn family stuff anyway... *grumble grumble* ;)
Oh hey, Merry Christmas!
of books and beards
Sales of The Day After and Other Stories have blown my expectations away, and the feedback I've received has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm relieved and happy that so many readers are enjoying it, and if you're one of them, I thought you should know that you've given me +5 to my saves vs. Par...
But Wil, I already has all these things! I would rather have an unsigned poster... wait, wait, hear me out... so I can stand in line to talk to you once again. Since you signed all my books at once (besides the two already signed) at Phx comicon, I have nothing left for you to sign so I have a good excuse to go pester you at cons. Unless I get, er... "creative" and I don't think Ann or my soon to be husband would appreciate that. ;)
"perhaps, he thought, christmas doesn't come from a store..."
But we all know the Grinch was wrong, and Christmas totally comes from a store! YEEEEEAHHH!! Um. Well, as threatened promised yesterday, here's the Wil Wheaton Holiday Gift Guide, a perfect place to send your friends who are wondering what to get you this holiday season, to show you how much the...
Awesome! Another good birthday year for me! I Promise I will try not to stare awkwardly at you while you're trying to play games this time. ;)
I'm out of books for you to sign however, since you were so nice at Comicon Phx!
epic wil ... ll ... ll
That's me, Will Hindmarch, and Will Schoonover, making the most epic Wil ... ll ... ll gang sign, ever. I loved that, because I only have one L in my name, I had a hand to make the W. (I don't remember who owns the hand making the I, but I'm pretty sure it's not someone called Wil(l).) (Photo...
Nice... LOL
Hey Wil, are you coming to RinCon this year?

That is sometimes the best part of road trips! It's amazing what you can find out there.
I'm glad you and Anne got to get away for a few days! I know what it's like to have an amazing guy that has to be away for work, and those weekends/days that you both get to sneak away are amazing, and important.
in place of a title, imagine the sound of a howling wolf
I'm going to be traveling like crazy for the next several weeks, so last week Anne and I took a couple days off to have a quick two day getaway. We went out to this hotel in the desert that we like, and spent about 36 hours sitting by the pool, doing a whole lot of nothing. It was glorious. The ...
I find it amusing/endearing that you still ask to gauge interest for anything you are considering producing...
Umm, yes! DO WANT!
=)
After all, you signed all my books last time I saw you, so I need something new for you to sign at the next event I'm lucky enough to see you at again! Ha!
anyone interested in a short fiction collection?
I have a question for everyone who reads my blog: if I put some short stories I'd written together into a little collection and sold it at Lulu, would you be interested? I ask this because I collected a few short stories into a limited edition chapbook for last year's PAX Prime, and it's been si...
I'm so proud I was there, in the front row, for the unveiling of this bit of wonderfulness! All of your panels this weekend were great, and talking to you a bit again was a great experience as always. Thanks for being awesome Wil!
unicorn pegasus kitten. scalzorc. clown sweater. fanfic. AWESOME.
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "I will never again in my life see something this epic, so I may as well pluck my eyes out with a spork right now." It's an understandable reaction, for I had it myself ... but before you get all sporky on your face, you may want to head over to Joh...
I can't wait for Rock Band revisited! Too awesome that I got to be there for the first, and now second!
I've been looking forward to this weekend forever, and a big part of that is seeing you again, and Felicia, of course!
Your life is good... and you help make all of ours better by living it, and just being you. Thanks for that. =)
excerpted from Just A Geek: a sort of homecoming
As I said in my last post, I'm really excited for all of the events on my schedule at the Phoenix Comicon this weekend, especially the TNG panel, because I get to share the stage with Jonathan and LeVar. Even though I talk to LeVar fairly often, we've never spoken together at a con. Though I've ...
Wow, I would love to make one of these at some point, but they're a bit too far for me so far. Any chance for one in Phoenix anytime? =D
At least I get to see you again for Phx Comicon! Been registered for that for months and now it's almost here! Now I can get all nerd nervous and say more dumb things to you. Haha! (I apologize ahead of time, because I know there's no real stopping it, sorry!)
Oh, and it's extremely awesome that your parents got to see you... there's no way they couldn't be proud of all the amazing things you do.
making a note here: HUGE W00TSTOCK SUCCESS
Friday afternoon, Anne, Storm, and I walked up the street in Seattle toward a towering red brick building. Next to the kind of ancient metal fire escape that inspires poets to write about life in the city, a sign was painted on the side of the building. It identified the building as a theater, th...
Oh gosh... BS2 showed up at my house today, and I've been eying it for a few hours. I'm struggling between really wanting to get things done that I need to today, or starting to play it and ending up in an all day/night marathon play session.
The ultimate goal is to hold off until Monday (maybe Sunday?), since I'm not sure my guy would appreciate me not even looking away from the screen when he gets home today from being gone on business for the last week. LOL!
I can resist... I really can... I swear I can... I'm just going to open it to look at how shiny the disk is... that's all... ah crap.
In which Wil discovers that he has Bioshock 2 Elbow.
My arms hurt so much today, I can hardly lift a cup of coffee, and I feel quite silly. This is how it happened... I played ice hockey all through high school and into my early 20s. I loved being a goalie, and after going to lots of Kings games with Nolan in January, I decided that I was going to...
My guy and I will probably be staying in too, but not sure we'll get any kids here. Our game of choice is WoW though. I guess we're not quite old yet. ;)
Happy Halloween!
More spooky pictures from past Halloweens in my Flickr stream. Last year's Halloween edition of Radio Free Burrito.
That really does sound good... although for some reason now I just want tomato soup and grilled cheese. Mmmm!
My roasted pumpkin seeds last night were my traditional HARVEST foods.
in which a tale is told about the preparation of soup
Anne is helping a friend move today, so she went down to The OC last night, in order to avoid the hellish traffic that exists on the Southern California freeways between 6am and 10pm just about every day of the week. This meant that Nolan and I were alone last night, free to watch the original ...
I'm seriously considering heading to this con for my birthday weekend. Any chance of an early release signed copy for my birthday? I'll show you my ID! Ha! Actually even if I just get to see you, that would make it the best birthday evers by far.
Tucson is less than 2 hours from here, so I'm pretty sure RinCon has now made it into the epic bday weekend plans.
not exactly time enough at last
I'm heading out to Tucson at the end of the week for a con my friend is running called RinCon. It sounds very similar to the laid back gaming cons I cut my geek teeth on when I was a teenager, and I'm really looking forward to it. I plan to play in as many games as I can during the weekend, and ...
I don't have a whole lot, but I can pack a lunch a few more days the next couple weeks, and go without a few sodas or coffee. I'm in for more than a little bit of change. ;)
I'm sure a lot of other people will be too. Ferris was a bit like family to some of us that got to read great stories about a wonderful friend over the years too.
to celebrate the memory of our awesome dog
This weekend, Anne and I are going to go up to the Rose Bowl and join a few thousand other animal lovers for the Pasadena Humane Society's annual wiggle waggle walk. Every year, it seems, we plan to do the walk, but every year something comes up and we end up missing it. This year, we're co...
