So do I understand correctly that your opinion is to rename "Perl 5.x.y" to "Pumpking Perl 5.x.y" and keep backward compatibility? Letting others (or even yourself) to create a fork called "ABC Perl 5.x.y" that can break backward compatibility. I see that might make it easier for people to experiment, but as I understood most people want someone else to do something, and those who want to experiment already do it. (e.g p11)

I am a bit late to this discussion but here is a link to the TPF wiki https://www.socialtext.net/perl5/index.cgi?versions where the perl versions of various distributions were collected. Partially from the earlier mentioned DistroWatch. Regarding the whole issue of no-support etc. My guess is that most companies will use the perl that comes with the distribution and won't care much about newer versions of perl.
