Congratulations!
We just had 15 on the 5th. Being able to laugh with your BFF rocks.
to mark the passage of three thousand six hundred and fifty-three days together
We went to Napa for our tenth anniversary. For the record: being married to your best friend rules.
My deepest condolences to your family.
I'm going to go through this twice in the next five years and even thinking about it breaks my heart. I don't know how you're doing it.
through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
My dog Ferris, who was rescued from a bus stop in Monrovia by my wife Anne almost exactly 8 years ago, had a heart attack and died this morning. It happened very quickly, and I was with her, which is supposed to make me feel better, but at this moment all I can feel is nearly-unbearable sorrow, ...
Hi. I know this is spare time stuff for you, but for several days loudtwitter is not sending batches to eljay for many of us. I switched to email, and that still doesn't send them to me. Additionally, a friend keeps having her *suspend my tweets* reset to Gimme a break, which she's not doing. Here's what is suggested at eljay for at least that end of the problem:
The URL that LoudTwitter uses (http://www.livejournal.com/interface/atom/post) has not changed, and is not the same as the new http://atom.services.livejournal.com/atom-stream.xml URL. We know that some LoudTwitter posts have been making it to LiveJournal after the move, and nothing except the IP address of our servers has changed. I would suggest contacting LoudTwitter support and making them aware of the problem. It is possible that one or more of the DNS servers that they are using is incorrectly caching our old information.
twitter rate limits changes
For the last couple of days loudtwitter is working in a degraded state because Twitter arbitrarily changed its rate limits. To get your tweets loudtwitter is pulling the information from your public page, which worked well until the change. Now one computer can only fetch tweets a few times per d...
One of the local radio guys mentioned that probably only 10% of the people got it. Sometimes, I love being that 10%.
I was so glad this showed up on teh webz immediately since I'd missed it. I've watched it about 5 times today. I also now know how to end my lame school video project.
just in case you missed the macy's parade moment everyone is talking about
This is the best version I've seen. It came from MartiMcKenna on Twitter.

When you get out east, I'll be there!
However, this con... just, no.

ORDERED!
Thanks for the head's up, Wil. Your blog is also a news feed for all thingz k00l on the interwebs.
I was actually searching through a bunch of VHS tapes looking for one and saw all my MST3Ks, thinking...man, I don't even have my player hooked up any longer! Manos! Long time no see!
The Return of MST3K
I was twenty years-old the first time I saw MST3K. I was sitting on the couch with a friend of mine, looking for something to watch on a Sunday morning, when she stopped on some crappy old horror movie. "What's this?" I said. "You've never seen this before?" "No," I said, "That's why I asked 'w...

Thank you for writing this and pretty much everything you do.
Because it shows me that whenever I think, "WTF do I have to write about and why would anyone want to read stuff like that--I just have this average life, right?!!" - you prove me wrong (um, not that clerks recognize me...). I don't think you know how much I'll be cruising this blog and your books in my creative writing class this term.
the best thing, ever
Anne and I went into a little coffee place in Eagle Rock this afternoon, on a spur of the moment date. While we waited, the girl who poured our coffee looked at me from behind the espresso machine and said, "Are you who I think you are?" I've heard this question a lot in my life, and there real...

so...if one were to click on those ads, it would earn you money?
this post contains lots of swears
Those of you who read my blog via syndication see occasional ads which are inserted by Feedburner. I don't make very much money from these ads (a very good month brings in about $300) but each year I accumulate enough to pay for hosting and offset some other blog-related costs. Occasionally the...

you're one of my elizabeth bears, wil.
Congrats!
announcement one of four (collect them all!)
I'm not going to bury the lede like I usually do: the script I turned in on Friday was for Volume 3 of Star Trek: The Manga. TokyoPop is releasing it this summer in time for the Big Honkin' Vegas Convention, and Comic-Con. Everyone at CBS and TokyoPop liked the story I did for Volume 2: Kakan n...

I was just thinking I'd like to have the ability to choose whether the twitters are listed in ascending or descending order. EG, I'd like to have the earliest twitter at the bottom of my list with most recent at the top.
There is more than one way to loudtwitt
As a twitter user, you probably have been bothered by one of your contact saying @bob tx! You don't even know "bob"! But that ability of temporarily switching from a one-to-many to a one-to-one communication is part of the beauty of twitter, so you probably do it also. That's why LoudTwitter is...
Your ep was a pleasure to watch.
As for coats, if you are coming out here now, it's not *that* cold (ya CA wuss)...but other onlines to consider are landsend.com and llbean.com--llbean being very good about returns and an awesome store to visit if you make it to Maine.
186, and some other NUMB3RS
The good news is that I packed and labeled 186 books to be shipped. Of those 186, about 30 are international orders that still need customs forms and postage, but the rest are ready to go. This brings us to the bad news, which is that I just finished now, an hour after the post office closed, t...

6 hours, man...that's amazing but you we might have told you it's no big surprise (ya dork)!
Congrats!!!
the limited edition hardbacks have sold out
Wow. I hoped it would happen, but I didn't think it would happen so fast! I took a break from the computer to go eat dinner with my family, and while I was up, we sold the last copies of the signed, numbered, limited edition of Happiest Days of Our Lives. The really sad news is that we oversold ...

Dragoncon, Wil! It would be worth your while and carry you on a few more of the other place$ on the tour!
Liveblogging the hardbacks, and an open mic
This is a big day for me, and a moment of truth: was I foolish to think that at least 300 people would want signed, numbered, limited edition hardbacks of The Happiest Days of Our Lives? I'm about to find out. I feel the same way I do before a big poker tournament or extremely important audition...

Wil, as someone who has PA'd a fair few folk at conventions and knows it can be a damned long weekend, I hear 'ya. It's a goofy, strange job to have; but you know why I do it? Because there is nothing more awesome than seeing a fan meet his/her fave actor for the first time...and the next best thing is working with an actor who is sincere and completely appreciative of those fans.
Yeah--it can be the same 5 minutes on loop for 3 days, but it means everything to some fans, and you are pretty much 1:1000000 for understanding that.
can you make one out to me, and three to my friend of the same name
As I sat down to put together this week's Geek in Review, I was faced with a choice: scream and rant and rave and foam at the mouth for two thousand words about how fucking evil and stupid the RIAA is for effectively destroying internet radio, damning many of their artists to obscurity and aliena...
