I’ve been very fortunate in my career. In 1999 I got to intern at Macromedia on a product that introduced a lot of early designers to the web. At the height of the first bubble I had the opportunity to... Continue »

When Tabitha and I started the process of changing our last names last year, it was hard to find information on the web about how to get started. In the interest of helping others make the bold and weird decision we did, here are a couple of clues to help you along the way. Continue »

We stopped in Tombstone on our way to Tucson. I expected it to be hokey, and while there's undoubtedly some of that, there's also a real sense of history in the town. The 1881 Gunfight at the OK corral seems very close. The Bird Cage Theater presented many famous performers including Caruso. Doc Holliday, dentist and one of the gunmen at the O K Corral, dealt Faro in the basement from time to time. Continue »

We stayed in the dusty little town of Willcox for two nights and enjoyed the atmosphere. The guys wear Stetsons and the shops sell cowboy and cowgirl clothes. We were there because it's close to Chiricahua National Monument, a beautiful park with amazing rock formations. Continue »

As a last update before our annual holiday card gets posted, finally, I am ready to share that we're expecting Tesla's little sister in May!!! We are thrilled to bits. I am already almost 5 months, and would have shared earlier, but had some reasons. One was I had a miscarriage earlier. I actually had an "empty sac" before that, meaning my body thought I was pregnant, but there was no fetus (did you know this happens 25% of the time?!) It was mighty deceiving, as I felt pregnant immediately. That passed quickly, and I was actually rather ok with... Continue »

Already half my stay here has zoomed by. Unlike most my visits, I didn't have a busy work schedule, so Tesla and I got to lounge around the house but this seemed to extend jet-lag as both T and I crashed early in the evening only to continue to wake up super early in the morning. Even after I was somewhat normal, T fell sleep before dinner several times (I kept a banana by the bed that she woke up and ate around 4am). During the day, T and I walked around the neighborhood and went to local parks. I... Continue »

Today was Six Apart's last day. It became Say Media this afternoon. And end of an amazing company, and a start of a new one. A colleague said Six Apart was sort of like college. We all worked and played together, and over the years, we started bumping into alum around the city working at new ventures. We are still a group, and are having a big alum gathering later in January to all come together. Current Six Aparters will be with Say Media, but many of those I have worked with, especially from the very early years, have already... Continue »

As the era of Six Apart comes to a close, and I look back on my almost five years here, there is a group that I feel deserves just as much recognition as the rest of us... plus some treats and belly rubs. I'm talking, of course, about the Six Apart Dogs. Dogs have been a huge part of the culture around here for as long as I've been on board. Like them or not, they've always been present. Most were well-behaved, but some would get their wild on from time to time, and that was ok. Sometimes we'd encourage... Continue »
