Larry Brown should be the guy. Even for just one year. He's an NBA Champion and Hall of Famer.
People need to understand: The Big 3 era is about to be over! Some people are acting like we will be Top 4 in the East when one of them leaves.
Reality check: we will suck.
Let's start talking about how to realistically rebuild this team because if not, we're looking at about at least 5 years (more or less the amount of years it took the Lakers to recover post-Shaq, and with Kobe!) of figuring it out. People are not getting it!
Your Morning Dump... Will the Celtics hire "Mr. Defense?"
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Boston's top assistant spot has been the fast track to an NBA coaching gig in recent seasons. Both Thibodeau and Frank have lan...
Who is trading a worthy young player for one of the Big 3? Who thinks we can actually win banner 18 with decent young players? Let's face it: gotta trade Rondo for CP3 or Deron, let Ray and KG retire in 2012, sign Dwight.

I 100% agree with you. I mean, yes, Shaq won't give us a bunch of points or minutes, but his presence alone was felt. In those 8 minutes the Heat shot 35% or something like that. A very small sample, but his presence was definitely felt.
Big Baby sucks. PLEASE DOC DO NOT PLAY HIM MORE THAN 15 MINUTES unless he is on fire or something. I'm done with Baby.
I've been criticizing Rondo for a while and watching him come back is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, but I just can't still get over the fact his jumper and free throw shooting never improves effectively. He actually played better after the injury!
I love you Rondo and I really hope your arm gets better soon, but work on those free throws!!!!
ugh...Who am I kidding? If that arm needs surgery, he won't improve his free throws during the summer :(
Still, one thing you can't deny is that this guy has a lot of heart and is a warrior.

Why is Doc Rivers even playing Big Baby so much? Isn't he realizing Joel Anthony is owning him? Doc needs to play Jermaine more! Open your eyes Doc: Davis sucks!
Why are people acting like this was a 2 game sweep?
On one side we have a young powerhouse. Feared for the ability to crush an opponent with a barrage of almost unprecendented power. On the other we have the aging former champ. Prime? That passed years ago. All that's left is a veteran savvy... and hopefully that will be enough. It is the e...
seems like ages ago... nate robinson was still a knick, david lee was their main guy, we had Perkins, House, Daniels, Wallace, and even Scalabrine was on the floor!

Recap: Celtics loss secures playoff date with Knicks
Root canal. Kick to the groin. A Tracy Chapman concert. All were better options than watching the Celtics 95-94 OT loss in Washington. The loss and the Heat's victory over Atlanta means the 3rd seeded Celtics will square off with the 7th seeded Knicks in the 1st round of the playoffs. The injur...
Here are my thoughts: Homecourt against the Heat and Bulls? Who cares? We can beat these guys on the road. The key is Shaquille O'Neal. If he's healthy and able to contribute, we'll get to the Finals no matter what.
If Shaq is healthy and we do get to the Finals, we probably won't have homecourt, which bothers me because the format sucks for the road team. However, if Shaq remains healthy once again: EVERYTHING'S POSSIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
P.S.: This will be a very stressful month.

I wouldn't sit them today. I would sit Jermaine, but not everybody else. One win, even against a bad team, can raise your confidence and help improve your chemistry.
But here is the most important thing why I would not sit them today: the Lakers play the Spurs on Tuesday. The Spurs are still fighting to get homecourt advantage against the entire NBA, so they probably want to win. If the Lakers lose that game, and the Celtics win against both the Wizards and Knicks, Boston will get homecourt in the Finals against LA, and after everything we saw in March and April, that's an outcome I'd happily take.

funny that some people here think we should trade rondo because that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. He is regressing instead of progressing. How come in so many years in the league this guy hasn't improved his jumpshot and/or free throw percentage dramatically? Improving your jumpshot may be too tough, but free throws? You just got to put the work. Listen, he is one of the best PGs out there, but he isn't even doing it on defense anymore. All I'm saying is, if the names "Deron" and "Chris" pop up this summer, we should think about it, especially with the summer of Dwight looming, and the end of the Big 3 era.
Recap: Heat destroy Celtics (and my optimism)
(Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images) I'd been clinging to the 'flip the switch' and 'get the new guys acclimated' theories for the past six weeks... but after watching today's pile of crap... I'm starting to have my doubts about this team. In what many of us believed was a must-win game, the C...
Rasheed Wallace.
haha just kidding I know some people hate it when someone comes up with it.
I think Shaq will be back in the 2nd round of the playoffs... I don't think we'll need him in the 1st round anyway... we just need him to give us 5 good minutes like today and survive!!!! :S
Recap: Sloppy Celtics still good enough to beat Detroit
(Photo by Brian Babineau/NBAE via Getty Images) The Celtics red-hot shooting offset their sloppy passing in tonight's 101-90 victory over Detroit. How hot? 64% FG and 63% 3 FG. How sloppy? 19 turnovers. The Celtics put this one away with a 15-2 run in the 3rd quarter. Kevin Garnett had 13 of ...

Recap: Vintage Celtics beat Spurs
I had to check the calendar after the Celtics 107-97 victory over the Spurs. The Cs played like it was November, not March. The offense was crisp. The Celtics shot 54% with 29 assists. I wonder why? Maybe it was Rajon Rondo's electrifying performance? 22 points, 14 assists, 5 rebounds and ZERO tu...
WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!
Jermaine O'Neal still plays in the NBA????????????????

wow... people are very negative about this stuff... it's better to have low expectations I guess? :/

something tells me we'll see more of pavlovic than some people expect... if Doc loves his defense, he'll play. We'll see how it goes, but with that length he could be quiet effective on D and better than Marquis and TA on offense since he can at least shoot it and spread the floor. I actually see Von Wafer out of the rotation.
Carlos Arroyo is saying the right things
"It’s been a roller coaster," admitted Arroyo. "But I'm truly excited to start a new career here in Boston. It's a great opportunity for me and my career, to do whatever possible to help this team win. Whatever coach needs me to do out there -- be a leader, get guys involved, put them in the rig...
Can we still trade Bradley for Rudy Fernandez? :/ just kidding... or... am I?
Recap: Celtics win despite craptastic effort
That was 2 1/2 hours of my life I wish I could have back. The Celtics edged the Bucks 89-83 in one of the ugliest basketball games you'll ever see. The good: Paul Pierce's 23 points (8-13 FG), 4 rebounds, 4 assists and one vicious dunk in the 3rd quarter (see above). Kevin Garnett's 14 points, ...

btw I'm not happy big baby is injured. I'm just trying to make a point. I obviously wouldn't want someone to get hurt
How the C's can Use Krstic off the Bench: With the "2-3 Arc" Play
If and when the Celtics can field a relatively fully healthy team, then we can all expect to see Shaq starting the game with the interim Nenad Krstic backing him up, along with Big Baby. We have seen Krstic mesh pretty well thus far with the starting unit, but once Shaq returns, what will his r...
awesome work! the thing about this team is that each player they bring shines because they can play to their strengths. Jeff hasn't been able to play with the starting 5 much and avery obviously doesn't execute plays as rajon does but now that big baby is injured he'll get more playing time and hopefully develop this kind of chemistry too.

nice post... hopefully people will be able to move on soon enough... the celtics are going to keep playing so we need to embrace jeff green and any other new guy and start being positive... I hope the best for perkins and I loved him too (the same with erden). he is in an amazing team with a lot of future, great teammates... now it's also time to realize we've got great players and can win it against anybody for sure
Semih Erden: Rocky Mountain Low
Making my way through the East Terminal at the Denver International Airport, I spotted recently traded Semih Erden sitting down, ready to order dinner. Semih may have been about to eat a steak, but he clearly wasn't ready to digest being traded from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers...
Rest is also very important. With Jeff Green, the Celtics are now going to be able to rest Paul Pierce and KG in the 2nd half. That is HUGE. We'll see if everything works out though. Shaq is still a great center.
Taking a deep breath, and looking at the C's moves realistically
Ok, we're all freaking out because Kendrick Perkins is no longer a Celtic. It's a jarring move that is hard to explain. Perkins has been a defensive monster and is a huge reason why the Celtics have been able to get past Orlando in the East. But at a time like this, its easy to forget a lot...
