Great post and thank you especially for the links! I'm going to get that One-Moment Meditation book.
Freedom from Physical Limitations
Happy Independence Day, everyone! This one is a little extra special for me, so I'm feeling quite celebratory. (no fireworks necessary). Independence and freedom can be experienced in a number of ways -- physically, mentally, emotionally...Today, thanks to a friend of mine, I'm thinking about th...
Thanks for the wonderful links! Happy New Year!
Inside First, Outside Second
I'm currently indulging in the relaxing downtime that I so enjoy during the time between Christmas and New Years. As I slow down, the inevitable happens -- I get those lovely intuitive hits about where I am and where I need to go. This past year I've gone especially far and I'm experiencing ...
You're welcome! It was a lovely Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoyed yours as well. Onward to December, wowza!
Finding the Good
No matter what happens in life, there's always savasana. It may sound funny, but it's true. And it applies to life on and off the yoga mat. Years ago, I attended a vigorous flow yoga class in a heated room. I wasn't used to practicing in a heated room and felt a bit overwhelmed (re: uncomfortabl...
4. The simple, rejuvenating joy of a cat-cow flow.
Thanks for this post! I'm thankful for your blog. And I like to think I'm pretty adept at finding the good; my friends consider it one of my more admirable (and rather freaky) traits. :)

I love this idea. I'm in physical therapy right now for a mild but pesky hip/pelvic pain, and I've scaled back all my other exercise, including yoga (although luckily some of the moves/stretches they've given me incorporate yoga). But I can't seem to stop myself from doing cat/cow and downward facing dog most days. I really like these two poses with the chair, I may have to give them a whirl!
Take a Moment
The past four or so months have flown by in a whirlwind of change, chance happenings, and surprises. I'm certainly not complaining, but the pace and the depth of what's been happening has me often saying, " Ijust need a minute." A minute for what, you might ask. A minute to slow down, to take it...
Thank you for this awesome idea and chance for a giveaway!
I just did this exercise today and here's what came up for me: I need to do this more often! In fact, I'm going to heed your note: "If you're looking for life-changing results, try doing this every day. Awareness -- it ain't for wussies."
I've been wanting to start a daily meditation practice for months and months, but I keep putting it off, or getting derailed. Well, why not start small, with 5 minutes to begin with?
So I'm committing (right here in public) to take a minimum of 5 minutes a day to focus on my breathing. The other thing it seems I needed to know was that I should not schedule this time at work (which is where I did the exercise today). So I can do it in my car, outside, at yoga class, or in my home. That's still a lot of options!
Thank you again!!
Celebrating Awareness with a Giveaway
The word awareness is often used in conjunction with yoga and/or meditation. This idea of cultivating awareness seems simple, right? Becoming aware can be boiled down to slowing down and noticing what's happening in the moment. When you look at the society we live in, you can easily understand h...
