In addition to my day job of helping run online learning programs at NYU-SCPS, I also am an adjunct faculty member in our division of Leadership and Human Capital Management. All of our courses use case studies to teach students... Continue reading

Thanks for the comment Kristen! The question about learning spaces applies to all kinds of learning. I'm glad we connected and look forward to continuing our conversations.
Though innovation was the theme of this year's Educon conference in Philly, for me the conference is about inspiration. Educon is a conference hosted at the Science Leadership Academy , produced for educators by educators--ranging from primary school teachers to... Continue reading

Thanks Kristen - it was a good ride--not sure it will become a regular thing...but I'm glad I did it.
Thanks Rebecca. I think there's lots of potential there. I've tinkered a bit with the Pogo Touch Stylus http://is.gd/bqWGy Could see it being handy for finer annotations, but no handwriting recognition...yet. The Dragon Dictation app's performance has been strong at transcribing speech.

Thanks Fantastique - I've tried editing this post, and composing an outline for a class assignment--it worked reasonably well, but I'm much slower on the iPad than I am on my keyboard. I'm with you on graphics production--the Adobe Ideas application lets you make quick sketches and mark up pictures--there are more advanced ones available, but I don't have the analong drawing skills. Did you see the New Yorker piece on the cell phone novel? Worth a read: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/12/22/081222fa_fact_goodyear

Hi Beth - thanks for the comment! I'm glad to hear that the conversation will stick with you. I'm hoping that we have a group that can keep on talking about best practices for learning at a distance.
Educon 2.2 is something of an un-conference. Instead of presentations, facilitators lead conversations. The conference is hosted at the Science Leadership Academy, a public charter school in Philadelphia, led by Chris Lehmann. Over 500 educators from primary and secondary schools,... Continue reading

Thanks Fantastic, somehow the FB recommendations seem like nagging. Rather than recognizing the time I spend on the site and what I do, it's like, heh, now do THIS. I concur on the network stats--but I bet they roughly follow the inverted pyramid Nielsen writes about: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/participation_inequality.html Aren't the making your updates public unless you indicate otherwise? Using your face in ads for friends. Privacy updates seem like time well spent.
