Oooooh I say! I know I have not been about very much of late ( sad face ) our home computer has died, and so now, I am using the laptop. Which is a little confusing ........ I have really missed tip tapping on here, whittering away, and sharing. I hope to do better. No, I must do better. I want to do better. Awwwww I really love all this snowy weather. I know it must be testing for all you peeps "up north" as its seems to be relentless for you. BUT........ I love it! So romantically festive, the... Continue reading

Happy Friday friends! We are slowly getting back to normal now, after our germ fest, I even managed a little spot of shopping today. I also had to chase Aggie puppy down the lane, this way and that, she leapt over the garden gate in an excited frenzy, chasing my neighbour on his bike, then a car, then she visited the chickens....with a last sprint into a field. After 20 minutes of coaxing her away from horse poo ( I still have the smell up my nose...eurghhhh ) I grabbed the cheeky madam, gave her a good telling off, and... Continue reading

This is day seven of the germies. The bumblebee's have just been bundled up into Mr.Q's car for school. A half day, we thought would be better for them, as returning to school on full days may tire them too much. I think we are not alone in the germies, I know, I know, it's that time of year, the kiddies are tired, excited, with all the cold weather everyone is dropping like I am the lone germer in the house..........and so I have no exciting tales for you, no new projects, no new makes. no news, no bakes......................BUT... Somerset has finally been covered in a blanket of snow...the excitement this morning!!! Although I have two poorly bumblebee's today, we have so far managed a couple of snow ball fights, and a quick snowy walk trying to identify animal tracks in the white stuff. The plan for the rest of the day is this.........duvet, sofa, snuggles, and a D.V.D......If you too are at home, snuggled in from the cold...enjoy your day....xxxxxxx Continue reading

Brrrrrrrrrrr!!! How cold? -5 here in Somerset this morning. But I quite like it! It is making me feel festive, that could have something to do with the wonderful School Christmas Fair we helped out at, on the weekend. That evening we had a fluttering of snow, I wish I had remembered my camera, .....we drove to school in a picture perfect wintery scene, snow covered fields and trees, following a Jeep with a Christmas tree lolloping out of the back.......just how perfect is that! All this early Christmasssy - ness has got me in the mood. This year I... Continue reading

The above picture is how I want to look today. We have the School Christmas fair tomorrow, and I am on duty at the cake a lovely day of baking delicious treats today.......pure enjoyment! Some thing tells my my bedraggled self is not quite up to the vintage housewife look today....perhaps I should pop in some red lipstick and a hair scarf?! ..We are so tired here, the bumblebee's are flagging, but we must keep going, three weeks to go lovelies, three weeks! Some uplifting music I think from the ridiculously long legged Eliza ( LOVE that name! )... Continue reading

Telling tales may change in the coming weeks. I will still be here, natter and chattering away, but I am hoping to make us is a hard task. I am not the best computerer, and I don't really understand all the tricky words and things. So Mr.Q to the rescue, with my obsessive pointing over his shoulder, I will improve our blog friends! Now then, how long has it been huh? How long have I been teasing you with piccies of the new bathroom? I am now ready to show it to you. All finished, painted, faffed with, tweaked.... Firstly I love receiving a letter. Secondly, I love receiving a parcel. But the best kind I find is one that is a surprise........Talulla bumblebee was very lucky this week. She received a parcel from her Uncle Thomas and Auntie Carrie......and was thrilled with the contents....WHO I ask you, would not be thrilled with an old traditional raggedy bear, wearing a polka dot bow tie???!!! I thought it was a box full of christmas buys ( have have been internet shopping this week, sooo many gorgeous little websites out there).... But in a few days, my parcel finally arrived (... Not the drink slugging type. The place. A little fishing village on the south coast of Devon. We needed a place to roam and walk on a Sunday afternoon. And to breath in the fresh air..... The sun was beginning to set, so the shadows and lights cast were incredible. We managed to time it so we could watch the last fisherman of the day bringing in their catch.... Though the timing was bad on the way back. I had eye spy-ed a sweet little bakery selling mince pies! Ooooh now I cannot resist a mince pie.....but it was not... Continue reading

What does a poorly bumblebee need for her lunch?..............."Ummmmmmmmm I like porridge and honey and raisins for lunch if I am poorly please"...sniff sniff...snuffle got it. I am thinking that surely, we have had our fair share of winter germs now. So please germies, if you don't mind, hop along now and leave us be. The bumblebee's would love a whole week at school, a whole nights sleep, as would I. Winter germs are rotten. On a dog walk last week, I found these loverly thistle heads in a clump on the side of a lane. I knew I... Continue reading

I am very excited to show you something. I know I still have to show pictures of the new bathroom, I am just waiting for something special. A special something that a lovely friend has made to hang in it....oooooooh you'll just have to wait!!! In the meantime, my bestest asked me yesterday how our staircase was looking. Hummmmmm well why don't I show you all? I am so pleased with it, my little cottage is really starting to feel like OUR home now..... This was the state of it when we first moved in. Imagination was a must......... Infact,... Continue reading

My baby is now, seven. She is feeling more grown up and "sevenish" most parents, we are wondering how we got to seven, where the years have gone, but looking forward to her new age and what it will bring us! Bumblebee was a great hostess at her party, they built spooky necklaces and bracelets and munched popcorn I made... played mummy wrapping and apples games and scoffed pizza and wedges too. Eight girls in my bijou cottage was a struggle, I can't lie to you...I was prepared for the screaming and shrieking, even the jumping every time you announced... Continue reading

Today is the day before Bumblebee Talulla's 7th birthday. With errands run, we were able to relax this afternoon, and do rainy day seasonal activities..... Halloween bunting anyone? I have glitter in my hair, on my socks, on the dogs, and a gluey table to clean, BUT I love sticking and gluing with the bumblebees............ We just need sweeties and pumpkins in readyiness for Sunday, WHICH is also the 7th birthday party too...............( stocking up on apples, and toilet rolls for party games!!!) With all the lovely golden leaves around, and gourds and pumpkins I feel compelled to make an... Continue reading

"Ooooooooooh"....I said. "That's lurverly"....I said. I was talking about this month's cover of Country homes and Interiors. If ever there was a over to make me buy it, this months was it. My love for an Aga is no secret, though I think mine would be cream, or red....hummmmmmmmmmmm......... I wanted to race home, pop the kettle on, find a snuggly spot on the sofa in the sunshine, and devour the pictures of a beautiful kitchen inside......but this was all there was.... I can still imagine Ma Larkin rustling up a few cakes and a roast in there, kids racing... Continue reading

We have celebrated Mr.Q's thirty something birthday........I think the bumblebee's were perhaps slightly more excited than the birthday boy himself! In the past I have found it a tricky thing, trying to find things to do on my lovely man's special day. But do you know what? I have stopped fretting about it, stopped trying so hard, and it seems, that this is the thing to do. Present opening at breakfast, followed by a speedy school drop off, a yummy birthday lunch out, and a traditional party tea, Oh and a birthday cake, with a firework in the middle....honestly.....we had... It's been a while since I last wrote. With sick children, sick Mummy and Daddy, busy school events, and birthday party weekends, I have found it difficult to get on here. Also the computer is very ill. Virus's ahoy, and we are not sure what to do, or how to deal with it! This morning with bleary sleepy sandman eyes, I gazed out of the kitchen window, and found these little sprites looking back at me! So beautiful! And friendly! The girls are in heaven!!! What a lovely thing to find on a Sunday morning! I love that these two... Continue reading

I have just returned from a sunny, dewey, hazy morning dog walk. As mornings are mine now, I am able to give the dogs some attention, and long walks to wear them out for the rest of the day are a ritual. I love this time of year........because curling up on the sofa with my slippers, a book, a cup of tea, whilst it is cold and damp and rainy or windy outside, on an evening is my bliss! The blackberries are out, the leaves are changing, the morning dew is still visible at lunchtime, and farmers are busy, busy... Continue reading

Inspired by Matilda bumblebee's first school "All about me box" the rules are........a box containing 8 or so likes, dislikes, photo's is my version, I have had a good think, and narrowed it down, several times, to a sensible 8 ish facts about....ME!!! 1.....Family. Of course this is an obvious start. My family is my world. They are everything to me. As a child/girl...apart from dreaming of being Truly Scrumptious ( Chitty chitty bang bang) the only other thing I wished for was to be a Wife and a Mummy!'s all I've ever wanted, and I am... Today I blog with you in between glossing the bathroom doorway, and painting the laundry room....( I like to call it the laundry room. It sounds ............ like I have wicker baskets full of starched white linen, various appliances, space to hang said linen on an old fashioned victorian wooden clothes airer. The reality is in fact, no more than a cupboard really. Room for the ironing board, hoover, perhaps a washing machine soon, but I like LAUNDRY ROOM..........sounds grand...) School is going well for the girls, they come home happy and smiley. So saturday we decided as a treat... Continue reading

I'm thinking the woodcutter's cottage with lupins, holyhocks, and foxgloves growing in the garden, with a pair of gleamingly white ducks quacking away, and inside will be a bright red aga warming the house with a pot of tea on the go.......and perhaps Michael Buble hiding in a cupboard upstairs too?...Have I gone too far?...... Thismorning I have been shopping! Yippeeeeee!! The lovely ladies at Matilda's old Preschool gave me a nice of them. You see I made the children going up to big school their dap/P.E bags ( which is a tradition here ) and in return I received a voucher for my favorite local shop Delilah Petal! So this morning seems as good a morning as any to have a spend! Would you like to see my buys?......... ............................................................................................................. ................................................................. ............................. have seen these pretty little tea light heart holders many times and adored them......... I'm thinking of putting it in the... Continue reading
