Addicted
These days, wherever I go I'm bound to have a tote bag in tow. Why? (Forgive the horrible picture. There's been NO sunlight lately.) Not only have I been bitten by the granny square bug, I've also been bitten by the hexagon bug. I'm using about 8 different colors from my stash to make the ...
This is wonderful. What wonderful memories have been knitted into that blanket.
slow knitting
A year ago, I cast on 220 stitches on a size 9 needle. Using leftover bits of worsted weight wool, I started knitting in garter stitch, changing colors when I felt like it or when a new ball of yarn was sent to the basket. Some days I knit one row, some days I knit twenty. Sometimes I've...
Love, love, love the blue dress!
vegas in a few photos.
THIS WEEKEND : We took a monorail to the future. We laughed. We cried. We sneezed. We sat at an all-you-can-eat-and-drink champagne brunch for over five hours. We gambled. We won money. We lost money. We celebrated. We danced. We made lists. We planned futures. THIS WEEK ...

Having a sister is a blast, but growing up it was a total pain. I was totally the annoying little sister who followed her everywhere. I adore having a brother too though, even if we tortured him growing up :)
Thinking Back
“Your sister wants a black and gray scarf,” the text message from my mom read. Overjoyed that she requested something I can actually make, I instantly added that to my holiday crafting list and forgot about it. Last night, I pulled the skeins I chose for her out of my yarn bucket, grabbed...
Those are so cute! I'm thinking I may need some for my own ponytail.
pre + school crafting
with 10 minutes to spare and hair that needed a little love, the girls and i made a few pompom ponies. one word : addictive. translation? i'll be adding some to the shop tomorrow - seriously, how cute are these going to be tucked inside a stocking, or as a special gift for little friends. ...
Love, love the clutch and that skirt is the perfect shade of yellow!
Wardrobe Wednesday, Summer Festival Edition
Last week I decided to make a purchase at Urban Outfitters, seeing as how I found the perfect yellow skirt on clearance for $19.99. Well, of course, I had to add two more clearance items to my cart. I mean, I might as well. Right? I'm already paying to ship the one... Well, imagine my disa...
There's a naval base in San Diego! I say you come to southern California. We could have fabulous fun together.
Your wedding stuff just keeps getting better and better by the day. I love getting all the ideas, you know ... just in case :)
wedding wednesday : honeymoon + letterpress.
A few months ago, I posted that we had grand plans for a honeymoon in Europe. Then a few weeks ago, I thought about the reality of going to Europe for a honeymoon. While I had a vision of a very relaxed, do nothing, eat good food, drink good wine vacation, the massive guidebooks for Northern ...
Lentils are the best food. They're tasty, healthy, filling and CHEAP. I think I'll have to make this next week.
lentils and rice
I am almost certain that I have written about this dish before. If I haven't it would be crazy because it is one of our favorite foods in the world. Lentils and rice. So humble are the ingredients that I almost hesitate in giving a recipe for fear no one will make this simplistic dish. B...
Ah! I swear I've seen one. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
a 24 inch kraft ampersand would really complete my life right now.
I'm completely amazed by the variety of artwork Finn was fortunate enough to experience. I am so jealous! I recall art classes filled with little more than coloring, or simple line drawings. What a blessing his art teacher is!
Summer School
My oldest son took a four week art class during summer school. I have to admit that I wished I could take it with him. They would be making prints, paper mache' masks, and self portraits for starters. It sounded like such a great experience. This past week the class finished and the te...

I'm the editor of Artful Blogging. I tried e-mailing you but it bounced back. I'd like to talk to you about your blog. Can you e-mail me back?

A Fave
I'm not normally a sketch kinda girl, but I got asked by Carol-lea Morgan to do one of her fabulous sketches the latest Scrapbook Creations and I love it! Here it is! On the home front, still got the boys home with high temps and a cold. More trips to doctor today. More antibiotics, etc., e...
I like to think that if I did eat salad (I just can't do it; call me crazy.) that i'd eat a beautiful flower salad.
I just love those ice cubes too!
Thanks for coming by my blog :)
Flower Salad
The season for harvesting from the garden is now here. The lettuce I carefully grew from seed is in full leafy glory. Our potatoes are showing their greens pushing up through the ground, onions wave 'Hello' with their greens. The sweet peas grace the garden with their beautiful flowers. These...
I absolutely adore Jen's work. The first piece you posted is my absolute favorite.
swallowfield
June's featured sponsor is Jen Judd-McGee, Swallowfield. I've been a fan of her work since I first saw it (and her blog), as a lot of you are too. The piece above is my all-time favorite, "yellow house" (although this new one is currently running a close second). It hangs in my front room and ...
Love this.
French braids just scream summer to me. And messy braids remind me of my mom. She isn't very good at braiding, but tries her hardest every time.
it's wednesday...
find something (or someone) to braid :: hbw!
I do believe I see some Dogfish Head in the fridge!
It was my mission to document this weekend as well ... all I took was a picture of a statue. I guess that's better than nothing?
a recap.
It was my mission to document this weekend. I did & it was good.
A fridge stocked with good beer is a much better start than a beer stocked with bad beer!
What's your beer of choice?
i can hardly wait.
It is shaping up to be a very nice weekend out here. We have a calendar full of adventures for the next four days. The weather is supposed to be great. And we have a fridge stocked with good beer. Happy, happy Memorial Day Weekend.
It looks so cute! I just chopped all my hair off this weekend, too. It had gotten so long (a little longer than yours) and I also have a lot of natural wave, so I NEVER fixed it. I'm actually afraid for my mom to see it. Whenever I see her lately, she's gushed about my "pretty long hair." Sorry Mom!
a home for the fleas
I told the stylist I wanted to look like Scout, from To Kill a Mockingbird, and, personally speaking, I think she hit the nail on the head. My hair had gotten really, really long and I was just ready for a change. After a few weeks of systematically shearing off an inch here and there myself...
My boyfriend and I are Kids in the Hall freaks. I really don't think a show can get better than that!
Oh, and I'm a sucker for anything with Steve Martin. I have the biggest crush on him. I have since I was little!
These are the Daves I know
Kids in the Hall episodes are one of my current go-to background shows I have playing while working, packing orders, portioning stuff, editing photos etc. Sometimes, music just doesn't cut it for me, but there is a fine art to finding a movie/tv show that is entertaining, but not too cap...
Ack! That is sooo adorable.
And I'm totally in favor of you doing a giveaway on Bake it Pretty! :)
I am the champion
Did I mention that I won a blog giveaway last week? So cool! Talk about a surprise. I mean, you enter those things, but you never actually expect to win them, you know? Check out the loot: Oooh, I feel so spoiled! Such lovely things. Thank you very much, Amy! I absolutely adore my new...
You are SO right about McDonald's having the right ratio with their Coke. It's the same with the rest of their sodas. I'm glad someone else has noticed that!
the today list...skip the fact that the day is half over.
bullets! go to joann and buy lots of embroidery floss. lots. take a shower because hygiene is of the utmost importance. get a coke from mcdonalds. mainly because they have the best ratio ever. get a treat for brianna for staying on green this week...she get's a yellow card about once a week. ...
That is the perfect scarf! I may have to learn to crochet just so i can make it!
Idle Hands
Do you crochet? Here is an instant-gratification pattern I found for a snazzy scarf. Skinny Scarf Pattern by Simple Beans I made this over the Holidays, when my hands were a bit more idle than they are now. A long, skinny scarf looks good with everything and can be enjoyed for mult...
Look at you with your fancy scallops! I love butternut squash, though I've never had it in soup form. Nor have I ever had scalloped-sour cream. I must try doing both!
Lucky for me, my boyfriend totally gets it. If a dish is going rather well, he'll yell, "get the camera!"
Martha Soup
Yeah, I did it. And I don't regret it. This was my first-ever butternut squash soup and is was quite tasty, a little spicy, and very creamy. Can a soup be too creamy? It almost crossed the line. I'll have to cut back on the heavy cream a little next time. I didn't use a recipe, just...
Reading this makes me so jealous that my sister and I don't have the time to do any of this!
and I can't think of a more perfect movie to watch while making holiday gifts than Pride & Prejudice.
Cupcakes 101
I can't resist posting about these new kits at Bake It Pretty! I'm so happy with how they turned out, and I think they will be a great, non-holiday item. Perfect for gift-giving year round. You can read more about the 101 kits HERE. And the fantastic polka-dot suitcases are also ...
