I remember party lines and having to wait until some random neighbor got off the line before we could prank someone. We'd scream into the phone and bang against the floor to try to get them to shut up. I'm a huge fan of Lenore Skenazy, but it's tough to let go and not worry about as much when everyone around is doing it as well. That said, try moving to Argentina. No helmets, babies on motorcycles with the rest of the family. You should see the slide at a local ice cream place. I turned by back when Lila played on it bc it was painful to watch. Yet no one ever did get hurt. As far as I know. Thanks for this. I found your blog recently and have been loving it ever since.
Hey Ayngelina, I know, you're time in Salta was short and with too much phone waiting around. I'm glad we had a chance to meet even for a little while, though. When you were here, we were filming for the show and had just just moved in. It was crazy hectic. Next time will be more calm. Whenever that will be, you know you're welcome.

Thanks, Alanna! And I got your e-mail but haven't had a chance to write back yet. I will soon. xoL

Hi Sally, And thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. Sometimes in the middle of all the work and trying to slog through different levels of culture and bureaucracy, it's hard to the bigger picture. I hope you will come to the house with your paints. I think you'd like it here. And Star is welcome, too. Although, we will definitely have to keep guard with Mani and Pipa. They mean well, but they're big crazy puppies. And I'm happy to hear you're back in Buenos Aires with love and life and joy. Besitos. xoL

We still haven't seen it. Probably won't until the next time one of us goes back to the US to pick up our copy. We've been traveling most of the time this show has been on the air, so I didn't really know much about it until we started talking to HHI about doing a show on us. But since then, it seems to pop up everywhere and so many people watch it religiously. We still can't, though, because we don't have cable and can't download the shows from HGTV in Argentina. Funny how things go. Let me know what you think. And.. looks like I may well be back in NY in February. Can I force you out to brunch again?

Our episode of House Hunters International just aired, but we haven't seen it yet. Thankfully, though, plenty of friends and family have been calling and e-mailing to say all is well. And this is the house we chose!!! Filming the show was a lot of fun. Two times filming in Salta and another day of filming in NYC. Exhausting but fun. The directors and producers were fantastic. The entire experience very professional. And now that the House Hunters episode has aired, I can talk about the house openly. They wanted us to keep a bit quiet about it until after so we wouldn't give away which house we ultimately chose. So now what? This house is our home but also the home of our new organization Cloudhead Art. Cloudhead is an arts and education NGO guided by our mission to build community through art. We gather technology resources via social... Continue reading

I happened to be in NY for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. It wasn't planned and I didn't take part in any of the memorials. I didn't want to. Just as I never wanted to watch footage of the planes hitting. I just don't see the point. Continue reading

Hey Samuel, Glad to hear you liked this part of Argentina. We've lived in Salta for almost three years now and also like it. One of the reasons is the people here. You have any plans to return? Or perhaps you'd like to get involved in this project in other ways? Thanks for your comment! xoL

Hey Leigh, Most of the photos I've put online are posted on our Facebook page. There are also a few on the Cloudhead website. I'm thinking of starting to publish a photo of the week soon, though. At the moment, we're just going through the thousands of photos the kids have taken and decide which will be for exhibition and which will go online. And also, photos of the exhibition coming soon!

Seems that post really did get you just at the right time. And I guess while it's about my dog, it's not really about the dog. I wish we'd had more chance to hang out when you were in Salta. Would have been nice to hear about your travels first hand. But the timing just wasn't quite right. Another time!

Thanks for sharing that, Nicole. It's cool to hear there are people who have been dropping by here since early on. Your comment made me smile. Thanks!

Yep. I think I used the "Please, just do it. I'll explain later" instead. Like you said, it is frustrating. I hated hearing "because I said so" as a kid. I still hate it.

My 7 Links is sort of like a Best Of post, but with a twist. Instead of measuring by number of hits, Tripbase asks each of us to evaluate our blogs based on 7 different criteria. Kind of a Yom Kippur for bloggers, if you will. Continue reading

Awww... now I'm a blushing proud parent! We realized early that if we played things like the Wiggles, we'd go insane. So Dylan, Cash and the occasional samba it must be.

Thanks, Claiborne. Sometimes it feels like there's so much else going on that it's easy to pass an anniversary without thinking much about it. I guess a blog is a good way to keep that from happening.

Hey Alanna, Thanks. I'm glad you like it. I'm always a bit iffy about sharing such personal stuff online, but I guess the more I do it, the less difficult it is. Or at least, the less I think about the fact that I'm sharing it and just think about the writing it. If that makes any sense. Yes, we're going this year. Noah, too. Looking forward to see you. Any idea where you're camping?

Thanks, Hal. All pretty much Noah's music taste with only a couple of mine. He's pretty old school. Add John Coltrane and you have the touchstones.

Thanks, Susanna. I'm so glad you like it and relate to it. As for the whole eavesdropping thing. Yeah, blogging is a weird thing for personal lives. When is your 16th?

And once again you surprise me. I didn't even let you know it was here. See you soon.
