Saw it again yesterday. Even better the second time because I wasn't on edge waiting for hollywood to do what it normally does with all it's liberal over tones. The movie was splendid for lack of a better word. I've read many reviews of this movie, elsewhere in places like Amazon and on the website. Naturally the ones on the Avatar site are mostly positive, but some of the reviews in Amazon absolutely blow me away with their negativity toward this movie. "It was too predictable, too shallow, too simplistic", or, " it was too anti-America, anti-Marine Corps, anti-Capitalism", yada, yada, yada. What the hell is going on here? If we grade on a scale, and compare Avatar to every piece of slime that that toilet hollywood has produced in the last 40 years or so, there is no question, none! Avatar is in the top 1% in every category. Maybe the movie wasn't the type of movie that appeals to some, but to savage a beautiful work like this as so many have done here borders on sacrilege. I can't watch the vast majority of bilge that comes out of that dump; finally something beautiful, respectful of nature, with a moral outcome and what happens. You get this onslaught of pseudo-intellects who have nothing better to do than pick it apart as if it was some pathetic offering. . I swear, I'll never understand my fellow man. Ever! If everything in hollywood was done with as much class as this movie, the world would be a better place! And as I've mentioned before, I'm not some left wing enviro-wacko, I'm firmly in the conservative camp. Good grief people, what do you do when you DO have something to complain about? I can't wait for the sequel! Again, thank you Mr. Cameron for your wonderful vision, pay no attention to the naysayers. Some people will complain about anything, they clearly have too much time on their hands.

My goodness, this thread is the perfect end to a perfect day for me! Yes, I'm very proud of my time in the Marine Corps and when I see it portrayed like it is in Avatar I'm just filled with hope for this country, especially seeing how many of you feel similarly. Can't wait to see it again and thanks for the kind words. Michael Q Semper Fidelis
Folks, I don't remember ever making such an opinionated offering and having so many agree! ;) Of course, this IS the Avatar blog. I don't know, I got home from the movie about 6 hours ago and it has consumed me for the entire evening. I would like to take Ashley's advice and forward this for consideration to the group she mentioned that are putting something together for Mr. Cameron. Not sure how to go about that. Can't stop talking about it!! Thanks you guys, Michael Q
1/8/2010 Well, my instincts don’t usually let me down but I have to say I was dead wrong about the movie Avatar before seeing it. I went in as completely prepared to be disappointed by the liberal overtones, the disrespect... Continue reading
