Thank you for taking the time, emma. Do you have any posts on those two approaches - that we could read? I agree that the eye poking and movement that interrpts sleep are in the prevent-stim category. Of the many children I have observed, the need or desire to chew is not restricted to when the child is tired. In the post above - the idea of heavy work - implies making the child tired (in addition to the neurological effects) - to decrease stimming. If that does not answer you question - come back and let me know.
