Well, attracting foreign high-IQ intellectuals is always a good thing for local economy and population in the long term. The immigration policy should be working on that direction.

From the Blueseed home page: Because of the United States' current immigration and regulatory regime, bold and creative entrepreneurs from around the world aren’t given the chance to come to Silicon Valley and develop the technologies that could be creating jobs and propelling the economy for...
" I will be crass and note that none of the black chess players have stupid first names"
What counts for a not-stupid name?
Does anybody read what I write?
In my recent post about chess, I wrote that chess is “not as g-loaded as you think,” and not that chess isn’t g-loaded at all. The point of this is that people who aren’t geniuses can get very good at the game, but because there is a small g-loading to the game, which probably increases at the...
But then again, the question is when this no-sense would end?
Occupy Wall Street kicks out homeless
Occupy Wall Street movements have attracted homeless people. That is, real homeless people and not middle class people pretending to be homeless. The middle-class SWPL types are in a quandary. Kicking out the real homeless people makes them seem not much different than the evil capitalists; tho...
the whole thing is getting more hippie-alike. They not only attract homeless, but also all kinds of weird religious groups, including Muslims, and of course there are not short of real thugs lurking within the protesters for some looting like what happened in Rome.

There must be a logic explanation of why blacks are not fond of trees with substantial statistical data.
I'd be more interested to see some serious studies about the demographics of the park visitors.
Black people don’t like trees
As I wrote a year ago about my visit to Prospect Park: There were hardly any black people in Prospect Park, even though it borders a black neighborhood. Black people obviously don’t like trees. This probably explains why blacks always live in cities, and then when you wander off into the coun...
Haha, nicely done. Exactly what concept you have written in those flyer?
Occupy Wall Street and value transference
I think that what the Occupy Wall Street people are really angry about is value transference, and they just need to have their eyes opened. Maybe if I went down to Zuccotti Park and handed out some leaflets explaining the concept…
Have you ever tried the real pomegranate? It's a lot of small seeds. Basically you just chew those seeds for the juice, it was really peculiar experience though.
Pomegranate juice tastes like grape juice
I finally decided to try pomegranate juice, to find out what all the fuss is about. I was surprised and disappointed to discover that it tastes like grape juice. For $4.99 for 16 ounces, I was expecting something a lot more exotic. Grape juice is a prole juice. For half the price, sitting next...
Israel wasn't really dependent on Turkey in the regional politics anyway. It wouldn't really matter losing Turkey as an allay in the middle east. US would never allow Turkey to express any aggressive military actions against Israel. It is Egypt that Israel worries to lose the most. That one is 10 times more important than Turks from distant land.
The Turkey problem
Turkey used to be the good guys when they were run by a secular government and kept secular by the Turkish army. Except for their unlawful invasion and continuing occupation of northern Cyprus. But we were willing to overlook that because they bordered the Soviet bloc and weren’t communist. And...
Turkish Secular politics is a sham. Always. they are always Islamic in nature. But I don't think Erdogan has much power to play around here in the middle east anyway. Turkey has more to lose than to gain in risking a warfare with Israel.
I have a post about it as well:

"Which explains the notably high IQ of people in the Caribbean and Central America -- volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, landslides, floods, they get 'em all the time."
It's still relatively new to them, just one or two hundred years ain't gonna change much I think.
Hurricane preparedness and HBD
People with higher IQ and higher future time orientation (and these two traits are highly correlated with each other for reasons currently unknown) will do a much better job of preparing for the hurricane, and evacuating from low-lying areas if told to do so by authorities. Because minorities ...
Good luck New Yorkers.
Off the topic, I think that people who live in a environment full of natural disasters tend to evolve smarter than those who live comfortably in the safe zone. Look at the Japanese. Can't say those earthquake, typhoon, volcano, and tsunami didn't make them get more organized and smarter to survive.

Half Sigma right again about Libya
On Sunday I wrote “People may be celebrating the demise of Qadaffi a little too soon.” It looks like I was right. Qadaffi’s whereabouts are unknown but he’s apparently still alive and in charge, forces loyal to him are still fighting against the rebels, his son who was allegedly captured is ap...
Indeed, the situation is pretty messy still. And it will only get worse after Qadaffi's demise. Unless another dictator comes in power, Thousand tribes of Libya won't rest.
What's going on in Libya?
People may be celebrating the demise of Qadaffi a little too soon.
"If one child has autism, there is a 19% chance of a younger sibling also developing autism"
If you have 22 kids from unknown women, then at least some of those kids are surely getting autism as well.
check this: http://theslittyeye.wordpress.com/2011/08/15/how-to-spread-your-gene-when-you-have-autism/
Autism is genetic
If one child has autism, there is a 19% chance of a younger sibling also developing autism (per NYT Well blog). (1) This demonstrates that autism has a strong genetic basis. (2) I think it’s irresponsible for parents to have another child if they already have one with autism, given the high r...

Randy Marsh in South Park is cool as well...
This is also cool as well: http://theslittyeye.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/the-stolen-warheads/
Fonzie was cool
It’s strange that no one mentioned the Fonz in the comments to the previous post about coolness. (I wonder what percentage of readers have no idea who I am talking about?)
"And this doesn’t mean that macro-environmental variables such as social class account for the remainder. A good part of the “environmental” causes of differences in intelligence is going to be the result of random and undiscoverable micro-variables and just the general random development of the brain."
I was thinking the variables that determine the remaining less than 50% of intelligence have a lot to do with stuff like diet, environmental stimulus (e.g. intake of toxin like lead etc.).
"that the black and white “gap” is caused by genes"
no doubt about that. different evolution direction causes different intelligence I would say...
"but I am pessimistic that anyone is going to fund the research study to prove it, or if proved it will be printed in MSM news sources."
definitely not, leftists would soon accuse the results of bogus scientific racism and screw the findings towards more political correctness... That's why I am suspicious about the term "more than 50%". Maybe it's a figure that is way too high to be politically correct in mainstream mass media, so they use over 50% instead...
Progress on the genetics of intelligence
Yesterday, Steve Sailer blogged about the research study that did an analysis of “SNPs” of over 3000 participants who also took tests of “fluid” and “crystallized” intelligence, and they researchers concluded that genotype is responsible for at least 50% of the differences in fluid intelligence...

LMFAO
Why aren't black women interested in non-black men?
A reader directed me to this WSJ essay in which the writer, a black man and a law professor at Stanford, urges black women to seek non-black husbands. The reasoning, basically, is that black women are less likely to be married than any other race or sex, because a disproportionate number of bl...

A short post about the economy and the Fed
The S&P downgrade of U.S. government debt is obviously political and not in any way related to the actual riskiness of U.S. debt. The dollar is still the world’s reserve currency, which means that U.S debt is considered the safest investment in the world. There is also the absurdity that corpor...
" the original Roissy no longer runs the blog, and the guys currently running the blog got sick and tired of people thinking they were Roissy, so they got rid of the old domain name which was roissy.wordpress.com"
That seems the most possible explanation to me. I heard Roissy has been busy writing a book or something, not really attending his blog with new articles...
Roissy’s blog is gone
Click the link, and there’s a message that the authors deleted the blog. Did Roissy really delete his blog, was he hacked, or is this a case of Wordpress.com deleting a politically incorrect blog? * * * But it still appears at a different url: http://heartiste.wordpress.com/. Is that still R...
BIGGEST CIV fan here.
Love CIV IV. Agreed CIV V sucks big time compared to CIV IV. I miss all those realistic complexity that is well reflected in CIV IV but omitted in CIV V for its upgrade in graphics. The only good about CIV 5 is its One-Unit-Per-Tile battle system upgrade and one-road-within-two-cities system. Civ 4 stacking unit strategy sucks big time though. Other than that, CIV 4 is the best of all strategy game. It has dragged tons of, tons of time from me, but I never regret playing them, and will still do (CIV V is way less addictive to me than the fourth one).
I am hoping they get the airport back, and the role of religion and espionage. city-state design in CIV 5 sucks big time.
Still playing Civilization IV
Four years ago I reviewed Civilization IV. I am still playing this game. With Civilization IV, turn-based strategy gaming has finally reached such a level of perfectness that there’s no need to ever play another computer game. It’s kind of like chess (but more interesting, because I can’t beat ...
Proleshplumber:
I very much agree with what you said. In this case, I think it is predictable that it's just a matter of time to wait for a lunatic like Breivik to commit such atrocity.
There is an old Chinese saying "long imbalanced repression and grievance will eventually be driven to drastic alternatives" It very much applies to the case here. Though pretty sad.
Norway Manifesto
I haven’t read it yet, but here’s a link to the 1518 page document.
"This guy has done a great deal of harm to the movement that he supports. Now people will say that right-wing types are a bigger terrorist threat than Islamic jihadists. And people will say that right-wing blogs are fanning the flames of “hate” and they will be blamed for this incident. Maybe governments will use this incident as an excuse to suppress the free speech of blogs they disagree with."
Absolutely. hate-speech law regulation will eye on everyone right now on the internet. but meantime we still hear from some news agency citing some jihad website for information.
I think his intention is sane, but the means he deems justifiable and necessary is definitely not accepted at all. He has obsessiveness and ego issues. This is something that crept me out:

BTW, "If the Muslims or Chinese or Africans get tired of multiculturalism they have the option of moving to a largely ethnically and culturally homogeneous homeland."
That's wrong, barely any Africans want to go back to their shithole homeland once they illegally immigrate to Europe. I don't know why you associate Chinese with Africans and Muslims, we never really believe in multi-culturalism in the first place.
https://theslittyeye.wordpress.com/2011/07/15/so-long-one-child-policy/
P.S most of Chinese illegally resided in Europe are from a tiny little place around Wenzhou, Funjian Province. They are the extreme money worshiping breeds that rather go anywhere just for money. They are even resented within China.

"Singaporeans are notorious for their poor Chinese, most of them speak better English than Mandarin."
Nah, Singapore speaks awful English with terrible accent. but still it's way better than their pathetic Chinese skills.
Here is a bit explanation of unique Chinese logogram in my comments:

Either way, what could learn a new foreign language harm you? It's always good to know a new language, especially the one associated with rich culture and great literature and history. People all over the world are learning English anyway.
How the rich raise their children
This is a story about a rich guy who took his white daughter to Singapore so she could get a proper Chinese education. A poised and precocious blonde, Hilton Augusta Parker Rogers, nicknamed Happy, would be at home in the schoolyard of any affluent American suburb or big-city private school. ...
Bottom line, US' influence and power is going to decline whether or not there being a China. I wouldn't say China will replace US as the next global empire, but definitely a strong challenger in the long run. The demise of US is happening only from its inside. Look at UK, Brits took it pretty alright, looking even backwards, look at the French, the Spanish, they are still having a good life after all. It's not like Americans are going down to third world country after America lost its hegemony.
