I went to college, then watched my once-lucrative career plummet to almost a minimum-wage job thanks to competition from India. Nobody is going to pay me a good hourly wage with benefits when they can get the same thing for a buck a day overseas. So at 48 I find myself starting a new career, and making just a few nickles more than minimum wage; exactly the same place I'd be if I'd never put any time and money into my education.
