Jud, great comments. I think a lot of what you point out comes back to "this is entertainment". There's nothing wrong with that of course, but its not the intent stream that has been harnessed by someone like Google and will likely not monetize as such.
Since I wrote this post Google has announced their social+real-time deal with twitter. I think this is a killer deal (mostly for Google, maybe for twitter) as it's the worlds most powerful social graph connected to the worlds most powerful search engine.
That said, Google probably won't mash the gas on it, BUT I think this certainly steps on the air-hose of others in the 'destination search' game that want to connect those dots. IMHO.

Thanks for the detailed comments. I guess my proposal would be to aggressively cut out the dead wood in places with people, and places where the appearance is overwelmingly bad.
In my mind this can and probably should include clear cutting in areas. Again, it just trees.
I don't buy the argument that we can't afford it. When a huge section of Winter Park, Grand Lake and the Rocky Mountain Nation Forest literally explode in flames how much is that going to cost?
Colorado, we have to care more about Pine Beetle
It's my last morning at Beaver Creek. The last couple years we have come up for a long weekend of hiking and great-outdoor-enjoying and each year it's been awesome. I took several long hikes up the maintained trails at the ski area that pass through the amazing forest area. The bulk of the for...
