If you are a real estate professional that deals with sellers who are trying to sell their home short than one of the most asked questions you probably get is regarding the tax implications of the short sale. Up until now I haven't had a very good answer or a direction to point a homeowner regarding this topic. But now I do and so do you. The Internal Revenue Service publication that handles this exact situation is Publication 4681. The... Continue reading

Chuck, As one of the agents quoted in the article you mentioned, I must take offense at your post. I have sold houses short. I have taught classes on short sales. I have spoken in length with Lem Marshall about short sales over the past 2 years. You are implying that I have not. Therefore I am kindly asking you to either remove the post or make a correction to it immediately. I have forwarded a link to your post to my broker and to the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS and the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS.

When making a move, especially into an active adult or seniors community, it helps to have a checklist of characteristics and amenities to choose from in order to better target your search. Here is a checklist we have put together to help you narrow down some of those items that are most important to consider when making your decision. Location: Demographics, population, crime levels and cost of living. Local real estate markets, including market trends, and long-term investment potential. Transportation, including ease of driving your own car, public transportation, and airports. State and local taxes, including state income tax, property... Continue reading

In the world of seniors there are two different groups and these 2 groups have key differences. Younger seniors are defined as ages 50-64 and older seniors are 65 and older. And depending on which group you are in, your needs are quite different according to a survey sponsored by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council® (SAREC®). There are a couple of other very interesting statistics regarding the real estate buying habits of seniors. 82 percent of senior homebuyers stay within their home state Nearly half of all seniors use the Internet as part of the homebuying process Of those...
