Hey Wil,
For what it's worth, it was through you and this blog and the greatness of Netflix, that I discovered the awesomeness of Eureka. And for that I am forever thankful.
I really miss this place
I took this picture on one of the last days of production. Whenever I watch Eureka this season, and I see an advert on the network formerly known as Sci-Fi for one of their stupid goddamn are-you-serious-with-this-bullshit reality shows, I get angry and then sad. Eureka was and is such a g...
Absolutely correct. The interviewer was truly excited about Wil being there. Nicely done and fun to watch.
in which wil is live at seven
Today is my last day on this episode of Leverage. In just under 24 hours, I go back to real life. Yesterday, I went over to Pioneer Square to talk with Stephanie Stricklen on a local news show called Live at 7. It was a good time, and I got to meet a lot of Portlanders afterward who came out to,...
I do a fairly decent Tom Jones impression. One time while singing "It's Not Unusual" at a karaoke bar, an older gentleman about 65 (one of the regulars there) stopped me on my way back to my seat and said, "You're no Tom Jones, kid, but you got a helluva set of lungs." That memory still makes me smile to this day.
he strikes like thunderball, because it's not unusual that she's a lady
I heard a Tom Jones song yesterday, and resolved to spend some time listening to his catalog today while I worked. This lead me to discover two really great albums on Rhapsody that I probably never would have found otherwise. The first is called James Bond 007 13 Original Themes which is exactl...
Dude, I am so happy for you. Can't wait to watch you on my favorite comedy on TV. That is, how you say, hawsome!
the big bang buzz
The Los Angeles freeway system, having thoroughly vexed me yesterday, was more forgiving this morning, and I arrived at work fifteen minutes early. I am happy to report that the simple joy of driving my car across the Warner Brothers lot, between sound stages and behind golf carts and past dozen...
You know Sean, they have a pill now for restless leg syndrome.
Daly TV: Can Kris Allen pull an upset?
Alas, FOX 13's Charley Belcher and I taped our last Idol bit on Good Day Tampa Bay this morning. At one point he tries to kiss me -- although oddly enough, he later pulls away when I try to embrace him. Such a tease, that man! For the record, my shirt is neither wrinkled nor borrowed from ...
one of my favorite albums of all time. greatness. Thanks for recognizing it.
David & David "Boomtown"
I just bought David & David's "Boomtown" album on sweet, glorious vinyl. Cost? $1. (Thanks Daddy Kool.) Used to love this sucker. Pretty bleak dissection of 1986 Los Angeles, and yet it spawned a coupla MTV hits, Welcome to the Boomtown and Swallowed by the Cracks. The Davids were Baerwald a...
I would put Empire at number 1. It is truly stunning especially the theme to the ice planet Hoth. Syncopated horns with 2 grand pianos. Crashing beats together that represent the action on the screen perfectly. Excuse me, I have to go listen to it now. (actually Raiders and ET is awesome as well. Williams was on a roll in the 80s!)
Best John Williams compositions of the '80s
Great '80s composers. When choosing the best, you can either listen to the insane rantings of pop music critics, or you can take it from today's guest blogger, Dan Vhay, a longtime Hollywood insider who knows a thing or two about great movies. Today, he tackles the topic of greatest film compo...
That was fairly predictable but funny stuff and then the throw-away line about Obama at the end made orange juice squirt out of my nose.
The Onion: "Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable'"
Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable' This is such perfect satire, I have to believe that there are some Class 5 Trekkies writing for The Onion. To them, I say: Q'Plah!
Why is it that your first drafts are better than anything I ever attempt to write? Anyway, saw DM in Dallas back in 93 supporting Songs of Faith and Devotion. There was point during Personal Jesus when all the crowd lights came up and the audience was singing back to the stage...so awesome.
everything counts
I mentioned earlier this morning that I couldn't convince my brain to write what I thought I wanted to write for my column this week. Unless I do some kind of Depeche Mode retrospective at some point, which seems unlikely because I'm not a music reporter, I'm probably not going to use most of th...

Dude... I missed last night's episode and so I surfed over to cbs.com and checked out a clip. You know, I have never met you but I have been reading your stuff for about 4 years and I have this weird proud feeling cause it's like seeing some old friend got this great opportunity to play this creepy character and I'll stop typing now cause my sentence has run on way too long.
Criminal Minds: The Read Through
This is the second of five posts about working on episode four, Paradise, during season four of Criminal Minds. I spoke with CliqueClack.com about some of my production experiences, and I have a gallery of images from the shoot at Flickr. Please note that I've done my best to recreate my interac...

One of the best moments you can experience with another human being (outside of the obvious) is when you make an obscure reference and the other person "gets" it. To be able to share that moment is the stuff that bonds families and friends and fans alike. Saw that episode a couple of weeks ago and for some reason I got a little dust in my eyes again just like the first time I watched it. Stupid emotions!

SpoilerTV has a press release about my episode of Criminal Minds! THE BAU TEAM HUNTS FOR A SERIAL KILLER WHO STAGES CAR ACCIDENTS TO HIDE THE TRUE NATURE OF HIS CRIMES, ON "CRIMINAL MINDS," WEDNESDAY, OCT. 22 William Mapother ("Lost") and Wil Wheaton ("Numb3rs") Guest Star "Paradise" - A seria...

LAST! As someone who has the word "designer" in their title, I completely understand the thinking behind NOSPEC but again, I agree, this is WILL. He doesn't charge us to read his blog. He doesn't hammer us over the head with the pop up ads PLUS he is offering payment of some sort. I'd love to do it just to see what I could come up with.
in which wil asks the readers a question
It's years out of date, so I've been considering either closing or updating the WWdN Cafepress store. I can't design for shit, though, and even if I could, I don't have time to do it. Rather than just close it down, I thought I'd pose a question here: I'm sure there are lots of good designers an...

Hey Wil, how cool is it to read so many positive reactions from people you have never met but are none the less giddy about your career?
(I think it's very cool)
happenstance has changed my plans
I had a great time working on Numb3rs today, but I'm too happily exhausted to say much more beyond that right now. When I washed my face a few minutes ago -- one of the last things I do at the end of my day -- I noticed that there was some makeup on the towel. "Gosh," I thought, "I haven't seen ...

I don't suppose Wil's speech is going to be available as a podcast? Hmmm, anyone, anyone?
Wil, I dare you to roll tape on it, so we can all hear how hawsome you are. :)
my PAX schedule
I worked on my keynote all day today. I got it to Good Enough, and tomorrow, I'll nudge it up to Awesome. Well, I hope. I'm still anxious, which is why I'm still at Defcon 3. To keep things in perspective, I took an unscheduled break in the late morning when Anne got stung by a wasp in the yard,...

hey Wil, I'll be in Vegas starting Sunday, so if I see you, I might gingerly say hello and try to shake your hand, but I promise no hugs.
this post contains poker content
I'm heading out to Las Vegas in about an hour, to attend BARGE, an annual gathering of some of the best poker players in the world, and me. It's the first trip I've taken in years that is just for myself, just because I thought it would be fun, and just because I need a little vacation. To say t...

Note to self: Do not hug Wil if you see him in Vegas next month. Unless he asks for one.
Nerd Prom 2007: Day One in Brief
So Comic-Con rules. I'm saving the detailed write-ups for GiR, but I can honestly say that today was the most fun I've had here since maybe forever. There is more beautiful artwork from more awesome indie artists than I remember ever seeing before, the costumed nerds are out in glorious force, ...

I agree, the article is way too short but fun to read none the less. Got a chuckle picturing you saluting a dog. That's funny!
It Takes One to Know One
Parade.com asked me to write a story for them about some of the more memorable Star Trek fans I've encountered over the years. "That sounds great," I said, "but I'm not going to do something that makes all Trekkies out to be some sort of freakshow. I'll highlight a couple of the funnier interact...
