Z for Zachariah was one of the first books I read also I don't recall where I got it from -- probably not a library -- but I was blessed to live in Mar Vista, California, and could visit an awesome Science Fiction/Fantasy book store in Santa Monica called A Change of Hobbit. While I'm presently in Afghanistan (and far from any libraries), I devoured several fantasy and science fiction series when I was home most recently. I ordered the Subterranean Press edition of The Best Days of Our Lives and love it. It is incredible how people can have roughly parallel experiences when their formative years were in the same general area.
