Hi Friends...we are almost through the first week of January! The new calendars have been hung and are bringing me daily JOY. The above is the inspiring work of Katie Daisy. I enjoyed her 2017 calendar so much last year that the girls gave me another one for Christmas. I love it! It's hanging right here on my studio wall where I can gaze at it often. And we also have Marjolein Bastin's Nature's Inspiration hanging up in the kitchen. Her watercolor paintings are just so stunningly beautiful and realistic that you can almost hear the birds chirping from the... Continue reading

Me oh my, what happened to Christmas? It all seemed to whiz by in such a fantastic flurry. I hope your holidays were merry and bright and full of lots of fun too. I do believe we enjoyed it thoroughly, even though I'm still spinning and a bit late on the uptake over here on the blog. What a year it has been. And now here we are perched on the eve of 2018. Expectant and wondering what will happen next. I'm optimistic! No big plans to go out anywhere today. My house is cozy and this is where I... Continue reading

Hello friends! The season is upon us once again. Are you hustling and bustling? I am finally getting around to introducing my quaint & quirky little ShowBox Dollyramas. I don't know why it has taken me so long to get this show on the road and to start talking about it here on the blog, except to say that it's been a bit of a juggling act getting all the particulars in order while a lot of my attention was on PatternBee stuff and the photo album project. Which I am happy to say, is nearly done now. Whew! Plus,... Continue reading

Well now, look who's back! It's the old gobbler hen. I turned around and there she was, lurking at the window and peeping in with that beady little eye. Scared the heck out of me--she just seemed to loom up out of nowhere. Boo! Gobble Gobble. . . I was busy straining the cold brew. Our new obsession. If you haven't tried it yet, you don't know what you've been missing. Besides the convenience, the taste is amazingly smooth and rich. All you need is a mason jar and your favorite fresh ground beans. (The coffee-maker is off the counter... Continue reading

Autumn is in the air! Can you feel it? The leaves are starting to change color on the trees in our neck of the woods and the squirrels are scampering through my backyard gathering pine nuts to store. I love watching them from the deck and listening to their funny little chirps high in the trees warning us that this is their territory! Here is the October Bonus pattern with our friend the squirrel. It's this month's free with purchase transfer from PatternBee. Nice for a seasonal pillow, picture or what have you. Like a squirrel with a good nut,... Continue reading

Last week, I walked out my back door and was greeted by this beautiful rainbow. It was a wonderful birthday surprise! We do see them from time to time here in the northwest, but this one was so bright and spanned the entire sky. I only caught a corner of it on my camera before it faded. For some reason, I always feel like a little kid when I see one. They still inspire awe and joy! And of course, there was chocolate too, courtesy of Miss Grace our resident baker. Need I say more. (Sorry if I made you... Continue reading

The fires brought such a harshness that hung in the valley this summer that I too was happy for the rains when they finally came. We may have a few more weeks of warmth and sunshine before the "snap" here in the NW. I look forward to both!

Hello Friends! It's been awhile. I'm still here. Are you still there? I hope so. After a dramatic change in the weather, ushered in by a thunderous rain storm that woke the house last night, it does seem as though autumn is a bit early and pushing through the door. Suddenly, I'm hunting for my warm slippers and pulling out cozy sweaters and reluctantly waving goodbye to the summer garden. I'm not ready. Abrupt transitions are difficult for me sometimes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that sunny autumn days will replace these gray skies. I'm hanging on to the promise... Continue reading

Still hot and bubbly from the oven, we have achieved peach cobbler totality! We are about 40 minutes into the "Great American Eclipse" here in the northwest, viewing from our backyard into a clear blue sky--and it is an awesome sight. Hope everybody is having a great day wherever you are! Continue reading

Hello Friends! Summer is in full swing around here and lots of wonderful things are happening in the garden. It is a glorious wonder, this garden of ours. Ever faithful and yet always changing, with a surprise around every corner . . . A broken sprinkler has turned into an automated birdbath! Our drip-irrigation system is on a timer, so every morning a tiny fountain of water shoots straight up and splashes down in the middle of the bowl. How convenient is that? The birds perch in the tree above it and take turns plunging in. It's the main view... Continue reading

Pattern from Embroidery Craft:: Stitching through the Seasons Hello Friends! I'm still here. Just quietly lurking in the blog shadows these days. All is well in our wooded wonderland. I've been waiting out winter with lots of little crafty projects that have kept me occupied through most of it. One such project (in particular) has consumed my time more than the others. And there's a backstory: Last year I made a mad dash down to California to pick up my Mom's Hope Chest, that had been locked away in her house for the past 15 years. I was relieved to...
