Marg, I get the feeling there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. Considering how psychologically dependent she was on Zeljko, I wonder about her emotional state. She needs to get mentally and physically healthy first, before worrying about playing tournaments.
I'm not a creepy Dinara stalker, I swear. :)
Wimbledon: 2008 Revisited
On the eve of Wimbledon, I thought it might be a nice idea to re-visit the epic Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal final of 2008, just to remind us how hard to wish for a reprise of that battle. But let's look at it through the eyes of Patrick McEnroe, who shares his thoughts on the match in his ...
AM, I fear for her too. Whatever happens, I hope she and her team make a decision that's based on what's best for her long-term health.

Annie, I know back in '07/'08 Del Potro was having similar lower back problems (he had to w/d from several matches that I can recall), so I wonder if it has anything to do with height and the strain that puts on the spine.

"I hereby offically commence Fedal war #6,372. *waves green flag*"
You beat me to it...I'm gonna order another drink and just embrace it. No point in fighting the inevitable.
More from Mac
Today, Pat McEnroe, U.S. Davis Cup captain, ESPN color commentator, and author of Hardcourt Confidential (with an assist from yours truly) is going to share some of his thoughts and experiences in that Inner Sanctum, the ATP locker room. This passage is preceded by a lengthy one on Jimmy Conn...
Francesca made the QFs last year so an argument can be made that yes, she does play decently on grass.

AB, it does make sense. Personally, I'm not thrilled about his opting to skip the grass warmups. I guess we'll see.

"Ferrer is in a slump."
How do you figure? He had the best clay-court season of his life and played one crappy match against a red-hot Melzer.

Watching JCF on Court 6, and I can actually hear Vika from Court 4. Yikes.

Ruth, it's not like this is the first time either. Her pressers are a broken record. What I don't understand is why the media is still treating her with kid gloves about it. I can't even imagine if Safina'd blamed her loss to Date on bad line calls.

"but it sort of seemed like she was saying there was nothing she could do: that she didn't play badly and Klebs/line calls etc just defeated her today"
IMO it's her way of avoiding taking any kind of personal responsibility for her crappy play.
Malisse and Rochus won this event back in 2004? Really? Man, that was a weird year.

Jewell, I think EWQ is my #1 choice to win it this year (let's be realistic - if Dinara makes the 3rd round it'll be a miracle). The last 2 RG finals have been dreadful for me, it's time I got a champion I can be excited about. :)

by Pete Bodo Mornin', tennis fans. Most of you are well aware of my aversion to the dark art of "bracketology," so these Grand Slam previews present certain, shall we say, "obstacles?" Over at ESPN yesterday, I fooled around with the idea of picking first-round matches I'd rather not see, ...
Evil Witch Queen for RG 2010!
I love that Seinfeld episode. "Well, now I have to move!"
Samantha, I agree with your earlier comment about Kleybanova. I think she's a surprisingly quick mover and I enjoy her game despite her quirks. I hope she can have a breakout year.

"Where are we? In Africa?"
To be fair to Verdasco, it was probably a serious and legitimate question. I feel like he doesn't know where he is about 90% of the time.
I've given up trying to figure out Dinara and her decisions. I have absolutely no expectations for RG, which is for the best. My frazzle-fuse is going to be on overload as it is.

She's needed a new voice for a long time. I always thought she was way too emotionally wrapped-up in that whole situation, so hopefully a change will help her.

The Deuce Club, 5.21
By Jackie Roe, TW Social Director Hey there, TWibe. Looks like the Deuce Club fared just fine without me last week, thanks to Jenni and Carrie (and the Hott List). As promised, we'll do the WTA version in a couple of weeks, probably after Roland Garros; it's not as if you guys will be hurting...

LOL at "Feliratio".
Mina, Sod survived until the final cut, when we dropped him from the list. Too many hott guys, not enough room!
The Deuce Club, 5.14
By Jackie Roe, TW Social Director I'm auto-posting this on Thursday, as I'm about to head to the east coast for a little weekend getaway. Well-deserved after a chaotic couple of weeks! Since I knew I wouldn't be around for this Deuce Club, I enlisted the services of a couple of guest hosts w...
Carrie, I think when the points get added on for this win he leapfrogs the overhyped one for #11. :)
Why Rock the Boat?
by Pete Bodo As I settled in to watch the Roger Federer vs. Stanislas Wawrinka match yesterday, I wondered: Given that both these guys are Swiss, doubles partners who bagged Olympic gold, and that we all know who the man is in Switzerland, what chance is there that Wawrinka will go out there h...
No. Roger is a spectacularly bad matchup for Ferrer, but he did take a set off him last time they played in Cincinnati. I'm not expecting much, but hopefully I'll be surprised.

I'd be stunned if Gael takes a set off Rafa tomorrow, but stranger things have happened.
JJ would bedazzle the hell out of that trophy, and I would love every minute of it.

"we could see a first and only-time Slam winner."
Since Dinara seems to be completely out of the picture, I can't tell you how much I hope it's JJ.
