My son's SFODA team abandoned their COP a month ago & Al Jazeera had the cameras rolling by the time the dust settled. My son is a Senior Weapons Sergeant on an ODA team currently in Afghanistan. I must keep this article away from him. He is capable of humility, just not about himself. He's certainly a worry for all who love him, and he draws us closer to God to pray for his safety, and if not, for his salvation. These men are each special and as a team are exceptional. But they do get wounded and need help the team can't give, so I strongly support the Special Forces Wounded Warriors Association as my primary charity. Go and do likewise.

As a Blue Star Georgia father whose warrior-son is in Afghanistan with his ODA team, my heart breaks for Mr. Stokely and his family, and also swells with the knowledge of the love between father and son. I saw this scene with soldiers of the 3rd ID when my son returned from Iraq after his tours. The love these men have for each other is forged in fire. Son's now in Afghanistan with ODA and often we've discussed how it is he's fighting for the guys next to him, that even when wounded they must be kept in the fight, made to know they are still needed to achieve victory. I watched my son walk out the Green Ramp at Pope Air Field into the belly of a C-5 going to Afghanistan Wednesday night to meet his SF team down range.
