After reading your books in which you mention the kids, its nice to put a face to them being all grown up looking!
In which I am a proud father
"I have to tell you," Jonathan Coulton's wife said to me on the last night of the cruise, "how wonderful your boys are." "I have two daughters," Peter Sagal's wife told Anne, "and I hope this isn't weird or creepy, but I really hope they meet guys like your sons." "Dude, you know you raised your...
The worst thing for me is not knowing phone numbers. Before I had a cell phone pre 1997 I think, I had memorized phone numbers for family, friends, etc... now if I don't have my cell the only number I have memorized is my cell, home, and dads phone. Once I had to call home to get them to call my mother (I couldn't write the number down and if I tried to remember it I would end up forgetting it), to tell her to call me on my cell. Aside from that, I adore technology.
My favorite tech gadget I have is my Kindle. I am actually going to see if I can get a RSS feed of your blog to my Kindle.
technology makes you stupid
It's been over 80 for the last few days, and I'm going up to Portland for the rest of this week to see my sister, so I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a run yesterday afternoon. My brain quickly tuned out and started working on this story I'm about to publish, so my feet went the...
I didn't see it as you being a jerk at all. I think there was some sort of mis-communication being as it was via twitter messaging but as you said you can't always really go by what you read in a text or online as it could have been written in one view and taken in a totally different view. It also seems that whomever was having that discussion with you isn't completely aware of perhaps things they should be and thats on them, so I would think it as I said a bit of mis-communication, as well as misinformation on the other party, with a bit of 'being human' tossed in there.
And as for the guy with the "gamerdad" trademark... trademarks, as well as patents are really getting ridiculous and I wish someone would step in on those issues because some people are just hording every little patent, trademark, etc... but thats another issue.
in which wil goes HULK SMASH
Last night, I was supposed to perform in the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo with a bunch of my friends, and a bunch of people who I really admire. Unfortunately, the sinus infection I was fighting all week had other plans, so I stayed home and rested on the couch with a screening of Repo Man....
I sure know how you feel and I hope things get better for you.
From the Vault: unpublished and unfinished scene from a grocery store
I'm working on repairing and restoring WWdN (don't get too excited or update your bookmarks just yet, my blog will live here no matter what), and while I was cleaning up duplicate blog entries, I came across several unpublished drafts of posts that I decided were too personal to publish, too unf...
That would really be something entertaining, a place where all readers can come together and discuss in real time, hmm, that would be one interesting chat room!

I use facebook mainly for status updates, keeping in touch with people, things like that. Occasionally once in a while I will get sucked into a game but I mostly don't deal with any 3rd party apps on there. I did when I first got a facebook but then I got tired of "your friend found a potato" or something or another in whatever game they were playing and I then blocked all games they played from my page, deleted most of the games I had ever played, and revoked access to apps I had previously allowed. If you try and limit what you let access to, I think it could be manageable. People also give this argument about Google, but I am a Google fan whore and will not give up my gmail, or calendar, or gatlk, or my MyTouch phone, I just refuse lol!
on the internet, nobody knows that you're a dog
I mentioned this on Twitter, but as Twitter has grown and grown (congrats, Biz and Ev!) it's become very "in the moment" and not the best place to put very important things like this: There's a page on Facebook that appears to be mine. The problem with this is that I don't use Facebook, and I do...
@Kevin Hayward I completely agree with you, this con could have been advertised as "Weekend with Wil" lol. I had read this blog for a while, but never posted thing, it was not until this weekend and meeting Wil, getting to say hi and seeing that ya, this dude is as funny and down to earth as he is on his blog that I decided to take part in commenting and not just blog stalk as a fellow TNG fan.
And yes my goal is to afford autos next time too!
Sunday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - Super Happy Funtimes, Eureka, Meeting Stan Lee
This is the last of three posts about the 2010 #PHXCC. If you're looking for the other two posts ... you know, I'm not going to link them for you, because I think that would insult your intelligence. You know how to find them. Sunday: I woke up Sunday feeling like Monty Python lied when they sai...
I missed the last panel you did, I was so tired and by 5pm was on the way home. I had slept maybe a total of 10 hours from Thur night to Sun, and I really don't remember eating much for fear of missing a good shot or something to give to the con, and it was my first Con and personally did not want to miss anything. I have to say that out of all the guests there you were probably the kindest, John Schneider was kind as well, but you offered more I think in a few ways, such as autos and snapshots. I mentioned in another post about how I am listening to your audio book of Just a Geek and there is a part where you say you know how it feels to feel like the guest is just there to take your money and you never want to be that way, well no worries Wil, you did not seem that way at all, and were awesome!

I was at the Geek Prom and shooting pictures for the Con but I did not use flash. Flash pictures really don't look all that good. I took images instead at a very high iso when the lights were on during the costume contest of you and Felicia and the contestants, many blurry shots lol because when there is not enough light the shutter wants to stay open longer to let more light in, which causes more movement in the image. Unless you got a real real expensive flash (which I don't) there is no point in shooting with a flash. I took a few of the crowd with flash just to have SOMETHING to show when turning in my images but I'd never stick it in someones face unless they asked lol. I did notice a lot of people with heavy flashes but they were not Con photographers. Not that I saw anyways. So aside from the rude photographers I hope you had fun and I hope you don't look at all photographers that way.
Saturday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - the Guild, the TNG reunion, a journey's end, and geek prom
Since I didn't write about it while I was there, I'm recapping some highlights of the 2010 Phoenix Comicon in a few different posts. This is about Saturday. Saturday: During the first round of the NHL playoffs, I made (and lost) another hockey bet with my friend Aaron Douglas. Because the Canuck...
You know I don't know why there was so many people that did not like Wesley. I adored him, I hated when he was gone, I started watching because he was on it, probably my first TV crush (no pun intended). I don't even remember how old I was, but I was young. My favorite episodes were those that Wes was in. My fav Wes eps I think would have to be the one where Wes is driving with Picard to some planet so Picard can have surgery, and then the one where they crash, or is that the same ep and I am remembering them as seperate eps? Been a while since I saw it.
Friday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - the awesome hour and rock band
Since I didn't write about it while I was there, I'm recapping some highlights of the 2010 Phoenix Comicon in the next couple posts, starting with Friday. Friday: I have felt creatively stagnant for months, and unable to write much of anything. I suspect it's because the creative part of my brai...
I was there as a fan and shooting pictures for the convention. I want to say it was great and you were really awesome for sticking around the entire 4 hours... even though you had too... lol, your words not mine heh. I got some video as well so I can post up different angles of some of the songs I got.
Due to techinical difficulties with my card reader I missed the Guild panel (thank you Youtube!), but plan to see it later. What I did see and loved was the TNG reunion panel. I have to say that was the funniest thing I saw that entire weekend. It seemed as you three, Levar, Jonathan, and yourself were completely at ease and just sitting back going down memory lane, so thanks for doing that.
I am currently listening to Just A Geek and well I just got past the part were you talk about you and your brother watching the original cast stumble on out and you have that "moment" thanks to your brothers "dude" and well I have to say I am glad that you got over that "dude" and embraced all of the Con scene and talking about TNG, because otherwise fans would never get to see those moments, things that maybe the outside world wouldn't get, or appreciate but the fans and trekkies would and do. So thanks!
