Today class 6 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Tesco! We went as part of Tesco's 'Farm to Fork' initiative, where children learn about nutrition and where food comes from. We learnt about different fruit and vegetables (and where they come from), found out about types of fish and even went into the bakery to find out how the bread was made. On top of all this we were lucky enough to try a variety of different food! Thank you to everyone at Tesco for such a brilliant morning and making us feel so welcome. Continue reading

In Science today, Class 6 were finding out which material makes a good thermal insulator. We wanted to find out the answer to this question: Why do saucepans often have wooden or plastic handles? We put a metal, wooden and plastic spoon in hot water and then left them. After 10 minutes we touched the handle of each spoon and thought about if it was cold, warm or very warm. We discovered that the wooden spoon was the coolest and therefore the best thermal insulator. Why do you think that saucepans have wooden or plastic handles but the rest is metal?
