I was reading through Mando's TOP-50 and find alot of eyebrow raising head scratchers?? Vincent Jackson at 6 with Fitz at 17?? When he has a QB Fitz is still a TOP-10 player in the NFL and will put up numbers with Arians running the show and Palmer throwing it all over the field the only hitch out there is that leaky OL. I have trouble as well with V.Miller at 10 and P.Willis (the air apparent to Ray Lewis) 10 spots behind him and even more trouble with Navarro Bowman (who in my view is overshadowed by Willis and is an ascending beast in the NFL) down at 39 when he actually put up better numbers than Willis in the 3/4 the 49ers run. Been a while big shout out to all the blog regulars!!

Dashi and YG, I think Starks is in the Yr. to Yr. part of it with Miami and Solia now out of Pos. will be allowed to leave after the Season were the Steelers and Cowboys will be looking his way trying to replace there aged guys in the middle. The DL is still a work in progress with Wake no spring chicken either and suspect we see some picks here next draft.

And Wilfork Is The Best NT Dashi Has Ever Seen. But You Get My Point. Dashi | April 28, 2013 at 07:18 PM The best I ever saw was Jerome Brown hands down! The most disruptive force I ever saw in the middle be it run stuffing or pass rushing. I don't remember a player with more plays I can remember in the backfield before the hand off and a hell of a leader. I thought Leon Lett could have been an all timer as well but allowed his Coke addiction zap his career. You can throw Cortez Kennedy into that conversation as well just played on P I S S poor Seahawks teams as well along with your boy Sapp see a trend in Fla. talent dominating this Pos. through history.

Why would we stick Jordan into the D_Line rotation, when our need is at OLB and he's the PERFECT FIT? odinseye | April 28, 2013 at 06:37 PM I agree and believe a group of smart Coaches will move him around using him in a variety of formations.

I Would Rather Lebatard Be Stereotyped Like The Spanish Sport Show On Univision. 2 Mexicans Talking Loud. With Half Naked Beautiful Women Handing Out The Topics. Heck, Do The Show Out Of A Domino Park. With Old Geezers In The Back. Anything Is Better Than Embarrassing Your Family And Your Race Everyday On National TV. Lebatard And A Hot Chick. We All Would Watch. Even Lebatard And Bomani Jones. You Don't See The Guys From NNL Eating Chicken And Drinking Watermelon Soda. Dashi | April 28, 2013 at 06:25 PM I actually see it the other way around he's letting them make a joke of his Family by putting his Dad on the air. His Father (who by the way has a vote in the Heisman selection due to the show, NO B.S.!) who is NOT a Sports reporter and knows really little outside of player names in any Sport is a walking GAG on ESPN and Dan seems fine with it?! Again your post was spot on and Freakin hilarious! I actually saw an entire 30 Minutes of that show were his Father stated he voted for YONEY FUTBOL in the Heisman selection but couldn't for the life of him say what his actual name was and that's on a good day when you can get half of what he says.

odin, I've been watching on ESPN and NFL Net. were we blew the pick with DJ and for the life of me don't get it because we did at the end of the day draft the best athlete outside of Lane Johnson in this draft with one GLARING difference between the 2 and that's the fact our pick actually played his present Pos. threw his College career. Again as we both stated earlier my only observation regards how Coyle plans on using him and I get the feeling we will look to line him up in a variety of formations searching for the miss-matches looking to build around one disruptive talent anything else would disappoint and lend for a partime pass rusher which none of us wants to see.

Back on the DJ thing..... Guys the point I made was about trading up to 3 to take a situational player. I have no doubt he will make an impact on pass downs but Odrick will see the field as the starter (all 4 from last Yr. will)I even got to thinking DJ might be used like Saban used JT in his 3/4 in a hybrid DE/OLB role were JT thrived and played some of his best Football. In our 4/3 were Misi is a liability in pass coverage anyway I think the idea of bouncing him around looking for the miss-matches along the line might create havoc given his athletic ability and speed plus may surprise in coverage.I don't know yet as nobody does but was thinking about the player I traded up to get in on more than 40% of the D snaps, that all nothing more nothing less.

all they can talk about is how bad our oline is. Bodine | April 28, 2013 at 01:47 PM Since the inception of that N.Y. based Network I've never heard anything positive about Miami outside of that Marino was very good followed by the BUT?????? Berman was always a Bills fan and they cover the Jets ad naseum!

Vernon was specifically a pass rusher at UM and a solid one I expect to see him post a minimum of 6 sacks this Yr. but run support was/is the issue here lets see if Coyle can light a fire in him because when not pass rushing effort declines.

: Bodine | April 28, 2013 at 12:22 PM No one disputes that he's a player but in my case just wondering how long it will take for him to be a full time contributor (all around game) It took JT 3 full Seasons to finally maintain his weight and be a complete DE in what was the same body type essentially. You also saw it last Yr. by the way with Vernon who needs to bulk up his 255 Pd frame as well to contribute full time. No denying that DJ is a physical beast but wonder if we didn't just drop the 3rd pick of the draft on what will be a part time player to start.

There were malcontents in the locker room and players that had way to much to say about how the team shoul be run. Darkoak | April 28, 2013 at 12:04 PM I did take notice of that during the HARDKNOCKS special last Yr. and was very put off by the players (Locker Room Leaders) telling the H.C. that in the future when a move like Ocho-stinko is made they would like it run past them 1st, I was like HUHH!!!! Funny how none that went to the H.C. are on the team anymore (Bush, Dansby, Long) I feel were light Yrs. ahead of were I saw us in the last dance with Sparano were we now know Vontae didn't have to come in shape and the lunatics ran the asylum.

Craig M @11:57, Agree with you here as well by the way also worth noting that Bess was due 4 Mil and is in a contract Yr. were it's highly doubtful after this Yrs. investment we would have given the #4 WR on the team a 4 to 5 Mil a Yr. contract.

dusty, Amendola was always hurt in St Louis so we will see how it plays out. I believe the problems in N.E. started the minute there F.O. was taken appart. Remember Pioli and Scout Dir. Dimmitrof (Atl.) picked the players before Belichik took over as H.C./G.M. which has doomed many a Coach in the past like Shula for instance. The Coach can't spend the entire Season watching tape on prospects. Really nobody outside of Jimmy Johnson has enjoyed success in the dual role and alot of that was him going from UM to Dallas and knowing alot of the Fla. talent he would draft 1st hand.

I just don't see this comparison of DJ to JT. Physique-wise...maybe. But from a football and athletic standpoint, DJ reminds me more of Jevon Kearse. CaneRock | April 28, 2013 at 11:20 AM Totally disagree, the FREAK was 6'6" and all of 265 to 270 when drafted out of UF to go with his 4.5/40 speed. Had a great outside rush to go with inside bull rush due to his devastating power, hence the nickname the "FREAK"

The same Ireland that just gave away Bess. I'm just not as optimistic as you are. CadillacDeVille | April 28, 2013 at 11:15 AM Bess is in a contract Season and is due 4 Mil this Yr. were we already invested 27 Mil a Yr. on the #1 thru 3 WR's on the team. He wasn't in the long term plan and he got what he could for him given the little leverage we had given the circumstances.

DC Dolfan | April 28, 2013 at 11:18 AM It was widely publicized that the Ravens were debating Flacco/Henne till seconds before Ozzie made up his mind and sent the card to the Commissioner. After Baltimore there wasn't the huge need and Henne luckily for alot of teams slipped to Miami holding the additional 2 could have been Flacco falling there in 08 and I don't believe it would have translated to a S.B. anyway given Hennings, Lee and Comp. would have destroyed his career. You need to go to the right Coaches and system so luck plays it's part and just a couple of Yrs. ago people had B.Gabbert as the overall consensus pick in his draft and everybody and there Grandmother were picking Cam Newton's game apart and saying he would slide were we debated right here what we should do had/if he fell to our pick 12 that Yr. and how did that workout for Carolina and Jax collectively?

dusty @ 11:05, I agree with you and DC about grading the draft today even the experts say you can't know for sure about any particular draft till 5 Yrs. after the fact. Heck I remember in 90 when we took Webb and Sims were we took some after thought DE in the 9th Round named Jeff Cross so no pick whether 1st or 7th can measured today, seems our 7th rounder this Yr. has it physically so you never know.

I was surprised by the D.Jordan pick I see the upside but wonder how long it will take. It seems memories get short and people tend to forget how things began instead of how they ended. Like every Dol-Fan who saw tape on Jordan I was amazed at the similarities both physically and even technique wise to JT but everybody forgets that JT took 3 Yrs. to become a complete player not really becoming a force in the run game till Yr. 4 of his career. During the 97-2000 Seasons Taylor couldn't keep his weight up usually showing up around 265 only to play at around 255 and even 250 before Oct. rolled around. He was also in that span prone to injury and missed 3 to 4 games a Yr. in that ERA. Always seemed to have problems with breaks in his hands and for-arms and one of the reasons our D always seemed to wilt in Dec. were we seemed to always get pushed around by bigger OL's and in honesty outside of Trace Armstrong the Pass rush would disappear as well. I'm not saying Jordan can't contribute right away as a pass rush specialist on obvious pass downs but doesn't that make the 3rd overall pick of the draft a part time player and if so like Taylor before him how long will it take before he can keep the weight on while improving his overall game. In honesty back in the 01 Season I had come to see JT as a 1 trick pony and felt the loss of Bromell and Mixon to the Vikes collectively would hurt more than some thought It was just JT's HEART and overall commitment to the game (can't be measured) that would get him over the hump were from 01 to 06 he cemented his legacy and will Jordan have that commitment and work ethic because before that period Taylor lived at the Davie facility lifting and eating I remember 6 meals a day to build his body. It was also what caused the rift with D.Gardner whom JT accused of dogging it and not putting in the time were Wannstedt had to make a decision given those 2 grew to hate each other and in honesty Gardner was a physical specimen who had the goods naturally before back trouble ended his career neither here nor there but bares the ???? about the investment!

I believe the Fins need a BIG powerful RB forcing the opposing LB's to look in the backfield before running with a T.E. releasing at the line of scrimmage. The conversation regarding the T.E. is also a very valid point in 08 aside from the WILD CAT we employed alot of 2 T.E. formations with D.Martin and Fasano which worked well for us and our QB at that time who hit Martin especially with alot of intermediate seam routes while Fasano had his best Yr. as the 2nd option in the package catching alot of passes on 5 to 10 yard corner routes. I just think that in 2013 we need to go with what we have on the roster now Offensively while focusing our 1st three picks of the upcoming draft on the DB's. I feel Lamar Miller will impress some this Season as an avid UM fan I can tell you he's a fast tough RB whose a one cut runner alot like C.Portis was once and if not for injury would have been a 1st RD selection in the draft. I believe Keller and his one Yr. deal will carry the load at T.E. and don't get why some say he's not a redzone target??? I guess I was the only one who saw him make alot of plays in the redzone for N.Y. on their 2 Yr. AFC Champ teams?! If B.Albert will be had then I believe Xavier Rhodes should be our pick at 12 followed by J.Cyprien and BA CB left on the boards with our other 2nd pick. I would even consider taking a player like TJ McDonald (Safety USC) in the bottom of RD-4. He is a big kid at 6'3"/228 Pds and can play either FS or SS and Dad Tim was a baller who was every bit the S that Lott or Atwater were in the late 80's just played on some bad Cardinal teams before replacing Lott in S.F.'s mercenary 94 Champs. I Love the idea of adding Lacey but not in RD-1 were we have mlore pressing needs and feel Eiffert will be very good but would play with what I have and look to plug holes in D Backfield to counter passing in the pass happy NFL if we really look to make the jump back to contention.

I hope he thinks that highly of Tavon Austin or perhaps thinks Geno Smith> Christian Ponder. The Woodshed Gang | April 07, 2013 at 09:36 PM I don't doubt that T.Austin is HIGH on their wishlist but they have major holes at DB and need a couple could see them taking Elam or Trufant with Hawks pick and going DB again RD-2.

I guess it's the peanut gallery Hr. except for Woodshed so I'll come back when the talk shifts back to Football.
