O.O my mind is officially blown.
Your move, Fan Fiction Writers
This is Safe for Work. As Chris Hardwick says, I think I'm going to buy this, and skip the naughty bits so I can see the story. (There are a bunch of NSFW behind the scenes pictures from actress April O'Neil -- who is a gigantic geek, apparently -- right here.)
I'm glad you mentioned sexual assult victims because I am one and I am afraid to fly because of these searches. Fortunately, I don't have to travel often so I've yet to have this problem, but I do live with a certain amount of fear of this scenario should the searches still be going on the next time I have to fly.
I don't feel safe. I feel violated, humiliated, and angry.
Yesterday, I was touched -- in my opinion, inappropriately -- by a TSA agent at LAX. I'm not going to talk about it in detail until I can speak with an attorney, but I've spent much of the last 24 hours replaying it over and over in my mind, and though some of the initial outrage has faded, I st...
" I think I'm going to keep doing this, until one day I have enough dice to cover my entire floor."
...and on that day, you will have enough dice, but not too many.
Testing the theory that one can not have too many dice
Just before I went out to GenCon in August, I wrote: I have one request, which I hope isn't unreasonable: I'd like to test the theory that you can't have too many dice. If I see you at GenCon, would you give me one gaming die? I'll bring home as many as I get, dump them all on my office floor, ...
Yeah, I was watching last night, and to me is seemed like you only overreacted very slightly. GamePolitics did seem a little rude to me too.
in which wil goes HULK SMASH
Last night, I was supposed to perform in the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo with a bunch of my friends, and a bunch of people who I really admire. Unfortunately, the sinus infection I was fighting all week had other plans, so I stayed home and rested on the couch with a screening of Repo Man....
I have been squeeing like mad since the Rock Band 3 setlist came out...
a quick one while i'm away...
Yesterday, Niall Matter and I went over to Granville Island for lunch and shopping at the public market. Matt Hastings, who is one of the producers, met us, and we had a really nice time sitting on the deck of this restaurant, enjoying the beautiful day, and some great food. We talked about all ...
OMG! It's so fucking true! I want to game! But if that monkey touches my dice I will kill him.
It's like there's a monkey on my back. A gaming monkey, and he's rattling dice in my ear.
One more From The Vault, because I'd completely forgotten about it, and it made me laugh out loud when I read it. While Anne and I drove down the freeway today, Just Like Heaven came on the radio. "This was my first CD," I said. "I know," she said. "You tell me that every time we hear a song f...
so would I. but I would be disturbed by it.
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
disturbing values of enjoyed indeed.

I don't think anyone fell for all of it, but I know some of us fell for some of it. As a kid at the tail end of the cold war, I was raised to think of Russian as a very harsh, unpleasant language; I've since discovered that it can actually be quite beautiful. example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_phHS56lNR8
we have always been at war with the mcp
A couple of nights ago, Anne and I spent over an hour watching cold war propaganda and education films on the Internet Archive. Those movies are just fascinating to me, and I've often wondered what it would have been like to live in the world portrayed within them, as opposed to the way the worl...
Cold war propaganda always makes me think of 1984; so do these posters

man, Ecto 1 was there? as if geek prom wasn't enough to make me sorry i missed it.
p.s. that elbow thing happened to me on my very first flight to anywhere ever. i was sitting on less than half my seat and the lady next to me was still trying to impale me on her elbow. and it was an overseas flight. :-|
Sunday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - Super Happy Funtimes, Eureka, Meeting Stan Lee
This is the last of three posts about the 2010 #PHXCC. If you're looking for the other two posts ... you know, I'm not going to link them for you, because I think that would insult your intelligence. You know how to find them. Sunday: I woke up Sunday feeling like Monty Python lied when they sai...
i also got something in my eye.
Saturday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - the Guild, the TNG reunion, a journey's end, and geek prom
Since I didn't write about it while I was there, I'm recapping some highlights of the 2010 Phoenix Comicon in a few different posts. This is about Saturday. Saturday: During the first round of the NHL playoffs, I made (and lost) another hockey bet with my friend Aaron Douglas. Because the Canuck...
actually Mama_rox, at my (junior) prom a bunch of us did do that. of course, it was just us geeks who were doing it...

"Mmmmm... boobies," indeed, sir. though, since i was 1 year old in 1984, i think i mean that in a different sense than you.
From the Vault: Uses Joystick Controller
I'm sure it's an enormous surprise to learn that I've spent a lot of time recently thinking about games and gaming, so I've found myself looking through old blog posts for research, inspiration, and to confirm or deny that strange "I think I've written about this idea before..." tingle that's re...

The Who's Baba O'Reily, played using only items from Think Geek.
I watched this while trying to drink my coffee this morning. I say "trying" because I just sat here with my mouth hanging open until the whole thing was over. This is pure brilliance. Anyway, it seems appropriate to share this as I'm going out the door to start work on The Big Bang Theory: ...
this is awesome, unfortunately it made me spend some time looking at thinkgeek, which led me to find a shirt that I MUST HAVE. http://tinyurl.com/8chkat as if people don't spend enough time looking at my tracts of land already.

the fringe! the fringe! i can't get the fringe out of my mind!
Connect the dots! LA LA LA LA!
Anne and I got to go see The Pee Wee Herman show last night. It was phenomenal, and I realized about 20 minutes into the show that I was sitting on the edge of my seat, grinning and jumping around like a little kid ... because that's pretty much how I used to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse. After the...
