Wil, come to the Dark Side. I am currently painting up a Skaven army for Warhammer Fantasy Battles. I have a huge amount of stuff for Mordheim and Necromunda. If you like pre-paints, and I like these ones, then the AT43 figs are great. Plus, the SF behind the game is cool. That doesn't even count the historical stuff. So if Dwarven Forge makes you happy then go crazy. If you need figs painted then there are some good painters available, including a couple here in Sacramento.

Wil, hope you feel better, sad you missed the Star Trek premier with your wife . You would have set a bad precedent signing that woman's breast because I would have had to ask you to sign my manboob at the next Sacramento con! I have to admit to a little bit of the "Wesley Crusher hate club" thing in my day but your blog and the simple fact that I would have given one of almost any duplicate body part to have been in your shoes changed that reality. Get better and come to Sacramento again so I can say hello and buy a book or two.

Wil, it looked like you were having a blast. It made me want to start going to Science Fiction cons again. I have been doing the gamer con thing forever but don't ever recall anything as fun as what you did at any Pacificon, ConQuest or KublaCon. You Rock!

I remember getting into D&D, white box, when it got released around 1977. My group had been doing AH boardgames including 3rd Reich. Then this strange little game called Dungeons and Dragons came out. My parents didn't have an issue with the magic or anything just the complete waste of time. Of course I still participate in complete wastes of time, just focusing in on boardgames and miniatures. While I like RPG's I don't have the time to play in a campaign, play miniatures, paint figs and play boardgames. So first the SCA got dropped then the RPG's.

Don't waste your vote on Nader or any other third party. If McCain had Lieberman as his VP I would have vote Republican in a hearbeat. Now, not so much. I'll have to make up for it by voting Republican for the other offices since I don't want a one party rule for the next couple of years. Since we are talking about voting...Fellow Californian's please vote no on all propositions except 11. Vote yes on 11 and no on everything else.

Josh, it's only wrong if your church is correct. Your book is wrong because of three things, there were no chariots, wheels used as anything other than toys and horses in South America prior to the arrival of the Spanish, all part of the Book of Mormon. Your church used to say that neither blacks or American Indians could be members of the church but a "revelation from God" changed that. It used to be that polygamy was an accepted church practice for good Mormons. The United States government changed that by declaring that either you gave up polygamy or gave up being a state. The church leaders received a "revelation from god" and no more polygamy. Too bad the church president isn't gay. I'm sure that a "revelation from god" would come down making it okay with the church. As Robert Heinlein said in "Time enough for Love", what a person does with their plumbing is their business. Having two people of the same gender getting married doesn't affect relationships, divorce does. Do you want to fix marriages? Don't outlaw gay marriage, outlaw divorce. No divorce means no more breakup of families, except by death. Do you want to bet that the death rate would take a huge climb? Josh, and all the other religious types, get off your high horse about what your god(s) tell you and let people have the right to live their lives. Or are you willing to tell some gay person that their marriage is a sham and their children their parents aren't married anymore? BTW, being in a hetrosexual relationship still means that my girlfriend and I are voting NO on 8.

If you want to get in some gaming on any of the nights feel free to contact me. Otherwise, check out Great Escape Games, which is pretty close to the Scottish Rites Center and is open until Midnight. There are some great places to eat near the Scottish Rites Center including Jack's Urban Eats. Eastern Kingdom, corner of Howe and Fair Oaks is a great Chinese buffet place that does a cook to order thing. Highly recommended. I have to admit to being stoked about your making it here to Sac. I started checking out your blog because of it being mentioned on Scalzi's blog. Great stuff and hoping to see you after my game session on Saturday.

Sadly, not all fans or writers of Science Fiction are as tolerant of gay marriage as this crowd. Check out John Scalzi's column on Orson Scott Card and the looney Mormoncentric rant that Card makes regarding gay marriage. Good Luck George and Brad and congratulations.

and I was hoping that you were going to be at a game store... This is totally the wrong kind of game for me. Now if you want to play in a Combat Commander tournament I'll do my best to wipe the floor with you! :)
