~ It’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Are y’all ready? Lori has chosen a really beautiful color palette for us – Coral, Yellow, Pale Aqua, and Green. ~ ~ I have been waiting for just the right color combo to use with my new (to me) Fantasy Floral die set, and this one is perfect! ~ ~ All the pieces were die cut from Ranger watercolor paper and and then smooshed and painted with Distress inks. I added a little texture to the card base using a Swiss Dots embossing folder. And I used the cool layout from... Continue reading

~ Oh yes!! There are a few brand new leading ladies by Brandi Kincaid and they are available TODAY at the Ellen Hutson store! ~ ~ Of course, my favorite is the Beach Lady stamp set and her matching dies. She was so much fun to play with! And here’s the first card that I made with her. Believe me, there will be many, many more! ~ ~ I created my background by loosely coloring with my Copic markers on Yupo paper, then added some definition between the sky/water/sand using Copic Opaque white paint. Beach Lady and her accessories were... Continue reading

~ Happy Wednesday, everybody!! It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge and this week Lisa has picked an awesome color combo for us: Black, White, and Aqua. ~ ~ I really couldn’t decide what to do, but I seem to go back to the PTI Tropics stamp and die sets when I’m uncertain. I can always use it with multiple techniques. To me, it’s a classic. Here’s my card using a “smooshing” watercolor resist technique: ~ ~ The leaves are clear embossed, and I die cut an extra one to pop up on foam tape for added dimension.... Continue reading

~ Yay! It’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Here are the colors that our talented hostess Jodi has chosen – Navy, Burgundy, Gold. ~ ~ Somebody needs to slap my wrist this week because I totally left the gold off of this one. But the burgundy and blue are there! ~ ~ I used the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus stamp set to create a small bouquet and then added the sentiment from the same set. It’s a simple card but it says a lot! We would love to see what you can come up with now! You... Continue reading

~ Hi, all! It’s the 25th of the month and I have another Christmas card for the Keeping Christmas blog hop to show you. ~ ~ I love the Hero Arts layering stamp sets, especially the Cardinal. No coloring involved – only stamping and embellishing! ~ ~ I stamped the cardinal in layers and die cut him. Then I stamped the branch pieces on another piece of white cardstock, stamped the sentiment, and used my air compressor to spray paint the background using my Copic marker B02. I used a border frame die to emboss the panel, then rounded the... Continue reading

~ It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge! This week Amy Rohl is our hostess and her color combo is a classic – Blue, Red, and White! ~ ~ I just love the simplicity of that inspiration photo. I needed a card for someone special who just bought a new house. Now, I don’t have a house stamp (that I can find right now, anyway), so I pulled out the retired Avery Elle Oh Yeah stamp and die set and used the arrow stamp & die to stamp several houses and cut one out of red cardstock. Then I ran... Continue reading

I’ve chosen some fresh spring/summer colors for us to play with: Aqua, Lime, and White! ~ ~ Now I know you probably think I made a beachy card with these colors (Right, Nise??), but I didn’t! I used the colors for the sky and grass for a sweet little smiling bunny. ~ ~ This bunny is from the Simon Says Stamp Best Friends stamp set and matching dies. The Seriously die and Stitched Hearts die are from Lil’ Inker Designs. The Distress Oxide... Continue reading

~ Hey, y’all! We’ve come upon another Wednesday, so that means a brand new Color Throwdown challenge! This week our hostess, Amy Rohl, has a bold & bright color combo for us – Eggplant, Green, and White. ~ ~ It’s almost time here in the South for the hummingbirds to show up. They almost always show up on April 1st and stick around our area until September 1st, sometimes a little later. I’m anxious for them to come back. I love the little whirring sound they make when they’re flitting about, and they’re so much fun to watch. So when... Continue reading

~ Hello, you guys! I’m the hostess for the Color Throwdown challenge this week. I’m ready for some warm weather to come and stay awhile so I chose some fresh Spring (or Summer) colors for this week: Coral, Green, and Kraft. ~ ~ I thought these colors would work well for a Mer-mazing underwater scene, using the super sweet Mermaid Love stamp set from Flora & Fauna. If you look closely you’ll see a tiny hint of blue water in the background. ~ ~ I stamped the shell throne and the sea plants first and then water colored everything! The... Continue reading

~ ~ This year, on the 25th of each month, several of the former The Challenge players are joining Kelly Lunceford at her blog for a Keeping Christmas blog hop. We hope to inspire you a little into getting a start on your 2018 Christmas cards. I’m trying to keep my cards pretty simple (easy to make multiples of), as well as eye-catching. This month I decided to use my WPlus9 Snowflake Backdrops stamp set. The largest stamp has a solid background so that when you stamp it, the snowflakes remain white (or the color of the cardstock). This makes... Continue reading

The little deer was... Continue reading

~ Hey, y’all! Things are changing a little at Power Poppy this year. Each month there will be a “Color Story”. January's is "Rosé All Day" — featuring flowers that are naturally reds, pinks, and whites. ~ ~ The bouquet features Roses, Redbud branches (Cercis canadensis), Cyclamen hederifolium, a Fern frond (for contrast) along with "ivy-leaved Cyclamen" leaves - they are quite dramatic. There are also a few paint brushes and a colored pencil, along with a ladybug and bumblebees. Each month we'll introduce a new Color Story, whether it's monochromatic or playing with various shades, that will help folks... Continue reading
