Holy Crap it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! Today, I talked about books, played some music, and rang my podcast bell a few times. Continue reading

175 degree water, two scoops of grounds. Fill to the 2 line on the press, and make the coffee. THIS IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS: Add about 4 ounces of water to the coffee in the cup, or more if you dont like your coffee to be as strong as I like it to be.

I got one of those aeropress coffee making deals because it was only like 30 bucks or whatever and OH MY GOD SHANE THE COFFEE THIS THING MAKES. It's like a new epoch in my life has begun, and I can't imagine going back to coffee from a crummy old very expensive coffee machine that is Internet-enabled for some reason. It makes my coffee in about 30 seconds, and it's the best coffee I've ever had that wasn't ground in front of me on stone tablets by sexy sex sexers on planet sex. If you want, I'll make you some and then you'll be all WIL YOU ARE A SEXY SEX SEXER FROM PLANET SEX. Seriously, if coffee is your new beer, think about it.

"...wearing pegged Guess jeans, a B.U.M. Equipment sweatshirt, and Samba soccer flats." Oh god I thought I was the only one.

More like YEEEEEEEAAAAHHHH-HEH-HEH-HEH-HEH-HAAAAAYYYY.
You ... um ... huh?
I have the Cult of Done Manifesto printed out and taped up next to my desk: http://www.brepettis.com/blog/2009/3/3/the-cult-of-done-manifesto.html I also keep a notebook (you saw it in Vegas) with me everywhere, and I write down everything, every idea, every amusing or interesting thought, every random observation. Sometimes something doesn't bloom into a great idea, but it fertilizes the ground where another thing does. Also don't pressure yourself to be perfect, and don't give a single fuck about what "They" think. The goal is not to be perfect; the goal is to be creative.

Cool! Would you email me your version of the recipe?

Moderation is only to confirm that the commenter is not a spammer or an asshole. I've been blogging for over a decade, and I've only deleted comments because they were spam, excessively creepy, or the commenter was being a dick.

I have, yeah. At the moment, I want to keep everything on my own server.

After a long Exile, I returned home this weekend. Until the heat death of the universe or I stop blogging (whichever comes first), I'll be back at WWdN. Continue reading

Until I make a final post here with a link to the new site, I wasn't going to change the feedburner link. Both links (the new one you've subscribed to and the feedburner link) will work, going forward.

Yeah, I overdid it with the chocolate malt this time around. Next time, I'm dialing it back to 8oz.

Oh, and that said, Beersmith does a ton of really great stuff, like cloud synching, and the add-on recipe database is fantastic. I understand that it's without equal on the Windows platform (I run it on my mac).

Brewtarget is fantastic, because it's open source and free (as in beer and speech). Beersmith is what all the major brewers use, though, so I needed it for my eventual scaling up to being a nanobrewery and beyond. Congratulations on your first homebrew!

Hmm. The sparge step is a Beersmith screwup; I'll edit that out. It should be about a 1.5 gallon steep and a total 3.5 or so gallon boil, with 1 to 2 gallons top off.

Tomorrow, I'm heading up to Seattle for PAX Prime. This year, I hope to play a shitton of games, both of the Tabletop variety and the Video variety. To accomplish this noble goal, I'm not going to do a ton of signing like I've done in years past. If you're planning to attend, and want to do things with me, or come see me do things, here's my schedule. Continue reading
