The problem is, that in Eclipse 3.6 the plug-in org.eclipse.equinox.p2.ui.sdk depends on org.eclipse.compare which requires org.eclipse.ui.ide.

A few days ago I had the problem to add proxy support for p2 updates in my own RCP application. The solution was very quick and simple. All I had to do was to add the plugins "org.eclipse.ui.net" and "org.eclipse.core.net" (and all their required plugins) to the dependencies of my... Continue reading

Next to the SWT snippets page there exists a JFace snippets page: http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/JFaceSnippets Here you can find an example with combo boxes within a table viewer, too: http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/JFaceSnippets#Snippet027ComboBoxCellEditors
Yes, that's right. My application using Equinox p2 based on Eclipse 3.5 needs about 152 plug-ins in its launch configuration. Changing the target platform to Eclipse 3.6 it needs about 160 plug-ins. In the Views menu appear Bookmarks View, Navigator View and so on. In Help menu the 'Key Assist' appears and in the main toolbar are buttons that haven't been there before. That's not what everybody needs in his own application.
With Eclipse 3.6 (Helios) the Equinox p2 API for update support of RCP applications becomes stable. Time to use it in your own application, but how? The best documentation of how to use Equinox p2 is the article Adding Self-Update to an RCP Application in the eclipse wiki. Following that... Continue reading
