You didn't cheat at Monopoly - you just received your part of the government bail out!
More knitting goodness
But first, you know how some people's trees get t.p.'d? Ours got shingles: Hmmm. Maybe we should've gotten the tree vaccinated for chicken pox. Anyway, I recently wrote of the knitting project I and Blogless Heidi are doing for Blogless Don and Blogless Brad. I actually finished Blogless Don...
Lucky for you it's still soooooo coooooold outside!! It's beautiful!
And In the Big Snuggly Scarf Category...
....May I present: Dayflower. Yarn: Twinkle Soft Chunky, in Coral Needles: US 15s I tried to tone down the color in the photograph, but this color just isn’t interested in being toned down. It’s so intense you have to look very hard to see the red scarf pin holding it together. I’m u...
As usual, you *MADE* my day special. Happy Birthday to Smith!!
Making the Best of a Weekend
Like many of you, I have today off and will likely be spend it knitting, spinning and relaxing. It feels so good to have a day off, a day just for fun, for myself (poor Smith is working). We made the best of the last two days, however and enjoyed every minute. Inspired by Lisa, Saturday w...
I love the stitch markers you're using! Hunker down is right - it's already 8 below here. We started out at 18 above this morning. And windy - oh hell yes!! Stay in, wrap up, grab a hot toddy and knit!
Work in progress
One way to overcome the challenges with the mathematics and counting is to employ every stitch marker that will reasonably fit on the needle! I'm working flat, from the bottom up, and cast on 170 stitches (plus 2) for a 10-stitch lace pattern with a marker at every repeat. I've worked four pat...
If Hez isn't asking for kitty vicodin yet - she's OK. They can be such drama queens you know, but when they're in real pain, you'd know it.
Maudlin Monday
TV: Anyone watch Mansfield Park on the Masterpiece Theater Jane Austen series last night? Anyone else have a hard time placing who the sister Maria was played by? The New Bionic Woman. Could not believe it. I think I caught a glimpse of Adam from MI-5 in the crowd during the wedding scene. Wel...
So much fun - too little time.
If You Weren’t There...
...I'm sorry that you missed it! Amy proved once again that she not only knits and thinks, she throws the very best parties. (I’m only such a good hostess in my dreams.) Yesterday's soiree was a great party, in fact, that I never did get around to taking pictures even though my camera was in ...
So what did he do to make him think he looked so guilty??
Surprise! It fits!!
On the left, Addison and his Baby Surprise Jacket in August; on the right, same kid wearing same sweater in January (5 months and 8 days later, to be exact). The hand (or something) is constantly in mouth; we felt his first not-yet-visible tooth yesterday. To refresh, Elizabeth Zimmermann...
Seriously - we had those same plates when I was growing up and just seeing them got me all nostalgic and weepy! Or maybe it just PMS....
I'm baking...a lot
Gingersnaps last night, pumpkin muffins this morning and plans to make an apple coffee cake. Oddly, this behavior means that I feel like I'm not getting enough done. The stomach flu hit the bestitched household hard. I am behind on three (argh!) writing deadlines, class starts tomorrow night...
I'm so glad you'll get to play with the Monarch again. It will be like I'm there holding your hands.
The way it is
In lieu of a Saturday Sky photograph today, I present Saturday Snow... because that's just the way it is... and continues to be... it is snowing as we speak. I also present snow-on-hydrangea (because it was there) and cashmere. That almost-half of a 2x3 or 3x4 (I don't remember now) ribbe...
If i only used your choices, I know what my totem would look like. It's not pretty. I guess I have some issues. Have great time with the kids.
My totem pole
For a class assignment, I am doing a little research into morale- and team-building strategies. I do not have to actually do any of the activities, but I did find one that looked interesting -- designing a totem pole that reflects strengths and weaknesses. It's to be done as a group, of course...
Anything out of a Pringles can would depress me! Feel better. Hug LL.
There's nothing sexier than a dental dam
I spent two hours in a dental chair this morning. Drooling and in moderate pain. Then I went to Starbucks for my oh-so-soothing chai and saw a homeless guy eating beans out of a pringles can. Sigh. So, in an attempt to erase those images and memories, here's a picture of LL wearing my grandmoth...
Love TSCC! You should try "Breaking Bad" on AMC too.
Pilot episode was Sunday and it hooked me BIG time!
Snow! And Happy Birthday, Mom
Snow! 2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz. Very interesting. I was a wee bit shocked by my results. Steven Pinker's YouTube lecture at Google on his Stuff of Thought. See? All knit up. More or less. See that little green stitchmarker? Right across the big gob of excess yarn? (Gah. Th...
Anything roasted sounds good right now. I gotta tell you - I'm so sick of this cold weather I could scream!! I never used to be like this - must be age!
Chili chases chillies
I did some cooking over the weekend to help warm things up. On Saturday, it was Abbey's Chili All Day. I've made that recipe at least once per year since Abbey first posted it. It makes a nice big pot of wonderful, hearty chili. Since roasting is my new favorite thing to do in the kitchen (p...
