Happy B-day from us at Fark. I was gonna submit a B-day thread in your honor, but I couldn't decide whether to submit it to the Main page, the Showbiz page, or the Geek page. I got so confused I had to give up ...until I go get some beer, anyway...

Big-time threadjack, but: Wil, I don't know if you've been perusing the Fark threads today, but there's this thread: http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=3851390 (no HTML majik, sorry) I suggest you check it out. And if I overstepped my bounds bringing this over here, feel free to e-bitchslap me. Thx

That's really freaking cool ... but ... I suddenly have this urge to become a Maoist and move to China for some reason.

I'm sure someone already said this or something similar to it, but here it goes. You said: " …which leads me to wonder where The Parents are, and if these people are so serious about making the world better for The Children, why they don’t invest the same amount of energy and resources into securing quality healthcare and world-class education for them as they spend wringing their hands over video games that aren’t even supposed to be played by The Children in the first place." My answer: Because it's easier to villify a video game than it is to fix the health-care system. It's easier to deride a medium-sized computer game company than it is to oust the Big Pharm PACs that are in every Congressman's wallet. That's why. Came here via FARK, btw. Cheers!

Believe it or not, we have a Trader Joe's in (wait for it) Presque Isle, Maine! Sadly, it's not the same Trader Joe's that exists elsewhere. It's owned by a guy in Caribou (Use Google Maps if you're lost by now) named Joe Sleeper, who also owns a mattress company called "Sleeper's." Hahaha. Sooooo cunning. We're purty s-m-r-t like that up here in the County. (Someone rescue me? Please?? I'll be your b*tch...) PS: What I wouldn't give to be a part of your household Wil. Your entire family must be a blast to hang out with.

Speaking of Star Trek things (ok this is a bit of a threadjack but I just had to share my discovery)... ...just *how many* webcomics have you guest-starred in? I seem to have found you here: http://www.ghastlycomic.com/d/20030309.html Warning! Comic material (not this particular one) is NSFW

When Pandora's breaking up (I guess their servers are overwrought or something) I listen to a simulcast out of Portland, Maine. They are /the/ only FM station that doesn't suck, IMHO. http://www.989wclz.com/WCLZ_OnlineRadioStream.shtml (no HTML coded goodness, sry) I'm listening to it right now. They've got "What Light" from Wilco playing. I should try last.fm someday...

"playing underwater in a steel drum." That's only the music from the islands you're hearing, mon. But on a different note: apparently Last.fm is *not* doing this 'day of silence', and they say why on their blog. Apparently, they believe going silent serves little purpose except to annoy their listeners; but I think the logic behind the day of silence (to raise awareness) has merit. No linkie here to their blog, though. Sorry.

Well, I haven't read all the other comments here, because I want to get my opinion out there, coz it's all about me!! Ok, not really. Anyway, yes, I went to see Spiderman 3. I liked--nay, LOVED--Spiderman 1. I also really liked Spiderman 2. Spiderman 3...hmmm...it seemed to me they tried to do too much, and ended up doing very little. It really plodded along in some places. Too angsty, maybe? I realize the writers, etc, were simply trying to give more depth to the characters; but I wonder if they could've done better. The movie was like a whole lot of sound and fury signifying ... not very much. I left feeling a bit unsatisfied. I'm not saying it's not entertaining, it's just like they went in too many directions at once. I DO like, however, how they made one of the bad guys REALLY human (Sandman), and how his motive to commit crimes was based out of the love for his daughter. Pretty good plot element there. All in all, it felt like the movie should've been given an MPAA rating of "ADD." It felt distracted. As they say, too many chefs spoil the stew. In this case, too many elements spoiled the movie.
