Welcome to our second monthly Photography Challenge! We hope you will join along with us! The topic this month is: MOTHERHOOD First I must apologize for posting this so incredibly late! I had a really hard time with this topic and I was up to my eyeballs in being a MOTHER, of all things! How to capture motherhood in 4 photos? To help narrow it down and decide on my focus, I consulted the dictionary: moth•er•hood (ˈmʌð ərˌhʊd) n. 1. the state of being a mother. 2. the qualities or spirit of a mother. 3. mothers collectively. [1375–1425] Random House... Continue reading

Remember the original concept of Project Life is to take the perfection paralysis out of the equation. I totally relate to what you are saying - believe me! But I would encourage you to get started without worrying about the creative stuff. Get the basic kit and start writing about your photos. Once you get in a habit, then start adding in more creative once you build your confidence and get a pattern and rhythm started. Or maybe you'll just have journal cards and photos - that is PERFECTION!

Maybe you could do it like a journal and just write about your thoughts and your memories as they come up. Sometimes when you remember one thing, you start to remember other things. You could also use the kits to scrapbook your older photos. The most important thing is just to start. Maybe even do it in a way that has no rules, have a photo, slide it in a pocket and write about it. Who cares! The most important thing is that you have photos (from any time or place - present, past, etc) and WORDS. Your daughter will love anything and everything you document. Once you get your habit started, if you want to be more organized or create a system, then you can start a whole new album but in the end, who cares what it looks like or if it is organized or which kit you use (or if you use your own paper), the most important thing is getting your thoughts on paper so your daughter (and you) can look back one day and remember.

Hello! And welcome to the May FAMILY x 12 Blog Hop. We are a group of bloggers who are committed to taking one photo a month of our families. For accountability & inspiration, we share them during our monthly blog hop. This project was originally inspired by Tara Whitney. If you'd like to join us, please send me an email (link on my blog sidebar). We have a lot of family photos this month! We started our month off with a very special occasion. Our youngest son received his First Holy Communion! We all posed in front of this pretty... Continue reading

Love it! Once I get my life organized enough to have a place for my inspiration pieces, I just might lift this idea. :) Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to Week 16 of Project Life here at Nihao, Cupcake! Blog. This week only had a few photos which means this spread was much easier and faster to pull together. I used one of my homemade stamps to make the date/title card. I was in a hurry to take photos before I lost the light so I haven't yet written in the date. The photo on the bottom left is one of the self-portraits I took, and then spliced together, from my new monthly photography challenge - 4 Photos; 4 Ways. (Go here, to check it out. Considering joining... Continue reading

Thanks, Nina! I do love walking by the beach. And I haven't been feeling too great about myself lately, but one thing I am proud of is the strength of my arms, so I took a pic of that. Trying to focus on the positive! This has been so fun and i'm looking forward to the months to come. On to motherhood! :)

I love these links. I will check them out. My experience with food art is decorating cupcakes (a la Hello, Cupcake style) & birthday cakes. I once made pigs in a blanket shaped like turtles http://xnomads.typepad.com/blog/2011/01/simple-things-cute-food.html and made traditional Chinese Qing Ming pastries using pretzel dough - tutorial here: http://www.simpleasthatblog.com/2011/09/friday-craft-day-edible-chinese-folk.html#; I suppose I do love food art, though I have yet to venture into Bentos. Oh and making art with pancake batter is fun too!

Thanks, Tina. Yes, I bounced back quickly enough, so I can't do too much complaining.

Yes, camping is definitely fun and we all love being in the outdoors. Hiking and campfire cooking are my favorite parts.

Thanks! I'm back in the States now and you are right about more possibilities of food poisoning in China because I had my share of it there too. You'd think I'd be safe coming back home - haha! It was at a Chinese fast food restaurant, though. Kind of ironic. :)

Here is another adorable layout from The Clean & Simple Worshop at Big Picture Classes taught by Cathy Zielske. I have printed it out and adhered my photos onto my card stock, but here I am sharing a full digi version. It is just easier that way. I can't wait to start working on Assignment 3 before the next assignment is given tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by! Continue reading

Look for a cast iron dutch oven and be sure to season it properly (lots of info on the web and in the instructions that come with the oven). Once you get the oven hot, it works really well. And it is fun. Let me know if you try it out, I'd love to hear how it goes.
Thanks, Lisa! Yes, being sick was not fun but I recovered quickly so it wasn't too bad.

Thank you. I've been writing on my pictures more and more lately. It is a quick and easy. I never thought I was a fan of the sunburst but I find myself using it a lot in my album. It helps that I made myself a sunburst stamp because then I can make it in any color I want! :)

Yes, camping and boys go together quite well! It is the one place they don't get in trouble for being loud (most of the time)! :)

Welcome to Week 15 of my Project Life! I am still keeping up as hoped and taking at least one photo a day. I have not missed a day yet! I can't believe it. It is the first time in three+ years. Hurray! This week was spring break for our kids so we went camping. We had not been since before we moved to China so the kids were incredibly excited and my husband and I were a little rusty. We couldn't remember exactly what supplies were stored away in our camping bins. But we quickly found out and despite... Continue reading

To make a Banana S'more, all you need is a banana, knife, mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Of course if you forget your mini-marshmallows like I did, you can cut up your large marshmallows. Continue reading

I am taking Cathy Zielske's class, Clean & Simple at Big Picture Classes (registration closed yesterday). It is all about hybrid scrapbooking. While I am pretty versed at hybrid & digi scrapbooking (early intermediate), I am taking the class because I love Cathy's classes and I love the commaraderie at Big Picture AND I was ready to crank out more traditional scrapbook pages. This is my first page since December! It was time to mix it up a little after doing only Project Life (which I still LOVE) for the past few months. How about you? What kinds of memory... Thanks! I'm sorry I don't have anything for digi scrappers. Silly me! I've always wanted to try making a download so maybe for the next blog hop, I'll make it a goal to try offering a free download. I already have a few ideas. Thanks for sparking an idea! And thanks for the encouragement on my pages.
I agree letter stickers are the best!
