You know that feeling that dogs you for years - that maybe you'd be happier doing something else, that perhaps the amount of anxiety and stress you're carrying around with you every day isn't just unhealthy for you, but for... Continue reading

This is not a polemic, or an industry ponder. Instead, it is just a lovely thing. My friend Anno wanted this recipe and I cannot believe that no one has put it on t'internet, so I will do so now.... Continue reading

After a long absence, I'm writing this down because (whisper it), this seems to be working, seems to be workable, and is a fairly interesting experience, where it feels like a degree of permanence could be achievable. So hopefully this... Continue reading

This last couple of weeks in London have been horrific. 5 people killed, and of course who knows how many injured. Year on year figures show that whilst deaths themselves have not gone over last year's levels yet, include serious... Continue reading

I work at the moment for The Money Advice Service. It's a worthy enterprise, and we're trying to bring the whole thing in to the 21st century - it's fun, and it's hard, and if we get it right, the... Continue reading

Slightly long interruption there. Where were we... I'm going to cover the bits that aren't my lower left leg, given that... well, it's the big finale but apart from that, if I talk about the 'blue' bits, it will help... Continue reading

Just wanted to update this with a great link from Gothamist - a whole bunch of videos - there's a great one from Saturday Night Live I hadn't seen before that just screams out how cool the band was. Look at those guys! Totally in to it. I loved that period, collaborating with Money Mark. when I saw them then, Mark was bouncing behind the keyboard like some kind of jumping frog, he was so excited. Oh, what do we know about music or anything else... http://gothamist.com/2012/05/04/beasties.php

Adam Yauch died at the end of last week and it felt very like a punch in the chest. When Yauch was diagnosed with cancer, the boys put up a video recorded in their studio, all together, explaining why the... Continue reading

Somehow it has taken me six weeks to get back to the writing of this post. I think perhaps that might be indicative of something psychological, don't you? What on earth could possibly be problematic about explaining the injuries that... Continue reading

So. Saturday morning. Straight in to theatre for a good dig around to try and work out what the hell to do, and what was wrong, and right. I am very vague about times except to say that I was... Continue reading

I will bring you up to date with the whole story, I promise, but using the blog in a 'diary' function (how novel), I just want to jot down a few "How are you feeling?" notes. None of this will... Continue reading

The paramedics had been on the scene for... well, an amount of time which was not short. It's very difficult to have a full grip on reality when you're experiencing the 'now' through several filters. Extreme pain and morphine, not... Continue reading

So there I am, lying under a lorry, with my leg having been dragged along the road by a braking tyre, with said tyre on top of said leg. And I'm not dead. And My God, it hurts. I've never... Continue reading

I'm not quite sure what I should say about the crash, and the circumstances of it, because we have engaged with solicitors and I am VERY VERY ANGRY and I HURT. A LOT. So here's a sort of 'sanitised' version,... Continue reading

It's difficult to take in really. Apple meant so much, as I grew up. The first computer I ever used had a mouse. It was a Mac Classic. It was 1990. Jobs and Apple made computers so much more than... Continue reading

By the way, a general update: Three months later the kids have never asked to re-watch the first film. They would like to see film three again, and maybe two but they have already re-watched all three of the originals again. They do have a set of Star Wars episodes 1-3 Top Trumps though.

Well. Yes, hello. I'm in semi-retirement at the moment. It's the blog speaking, here. Somehow, well I keep nagging at her but she doesn't seem to notice. I wonder why she won't talk at me? What's wrong with me, that's... Continue reading

If there's one way to affirm or have your own private thoughts on any family film denied, it's to show them to your kids, who have had no background noise, no hype and no understanding of the apparent cultural significance... Continue reading
