BEAT THE FLOWER DRUM { drawflowers }
Good Morning, everyone. By now, you probably know, it's springtime in New York City. So, I'll spare you the gory details about how great spring is (as if everyone didn't already know)...and how great it is to see things growing again, and how spring brings up so many wonderful feelings in my s...
Gorgeous~wow. I do love that dress so very much, your pick of the heels and I never tire of Abigail Percy.

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE { navy, black, pearl }
Yesterday, on my way back from a completely fruitless errand downtown, I saw a woman on the train wearing a navy skirt and black crocheted stockings. It reminded me, I have been wanting to post some of my navy and black favorites for a while. So, without further ado-- here they are. I like the...
Oh, yeah.....that coat is SO you! You neeeed it, and the puppy is no problem....now, if only I had a chic parisian flat to give you. *sigh*

The perfect coat
This is it. Big collar, great detailing at the cuffs, cinched waist, with a gentle flare. This coat would make my life complete. Also, living in Paris with this coat. And being that thin. And stylish. Seriously, I would never complain about anything ever again. I swears to GAWD. I would just...
These are so cool! I see why you are facinated....with those shoes! They speak of summer, beach trips in the 40's....sipping ice tea with lemonade! YUM!

Chunky Clunky Wonky { bold, weird }
Will someone please tell me what it is about these canvas, cork, platform shoes that I can't get enough of? The canvas? The cork? The platform? Anyway, each of these things struck me as memorable. And, in the spirit of recording things that visually pop out at me...here they are. I had seen ...
....though it is VERY likely I did! As I fall ALL of the time!

Incomprehensible and ill-advised analogies
On my way to the shrink yesterday, a man in a spiffy suit and sunglasses fell on the bus. It was one of the epic, spectacular face plants that made everyone gasp and express concern. He quickly snatched his belongings and pretended absolutely nothing had happened. No eye contact, no self-de...
EXACTLY! GOD, I love P! :) And you are right.....we have all had one of those spectacular falls and I agree with letting it all hang out! In fact, I usually just say to the person who fell..." Oh, I just did the SAME thing yesterday! Are you okay?" Even if I didn't....:)

Beautifully written dear P....and I understand completely. How sad that they were chopped down....growing up I was always climbing trees and figured we had the best climbing trees in the world :) I wish I had a print like this as well, to remember.

Eye Break: Bryan Nash Gill
When we were children, my brothers and I each had a climbing tree of our own on the little plot of land where our beach house stands. Mine was perfection - its branches were sturdy and in all the right places. At the point where the branches joined to create a little cup, a robin would often n...

LIGHTEN UP { bright, fun touches }
Bonjour, bonjour. Just popping in for a moment, now. After a very, very rainy day here in NYC, it seemed like the right time to post these beautiful, bright images, which are on my inspiration board, here in the studio. Not only do I love the colors, I love the mixture of honest materials, li...

Home office decor
Over the past few weeks I've been busy transforming one of the bedrooms in our house into my home office. I had a general idea of the essential things I need; like a big L-shape desk, a massive beehive-bookcase, for all my design books and magazines and a chest of drawers for my art and craft ma...
Oh, this makes me happy too! I love it and so sorry about your menacing bump! Oh, AND your ankle!

CONFIDENTIAL MEMO: Wiggling Manatee Cures Animated GIF Addiction
OK, I realize I've been abusing animated GIFs recently. I can't help it - this one is so cute, it's making me extremely happy, despite the fact that it's pissing down rain, my ankle is throbbing, and I've developed a menacing bump on the back of my head from this morning's disgrace. LAST ON...
Hee hee ha ha! Still giggling from your post when I read Helen's above and that makes me giggle even more! Sorry about your tulips and lilies! That truly sucks!

In which I turn on animals of the forest and threaten them with bodily harm.
Look, there was a time when I liked you. That scene when your mom dies in a forest fire? That was really sad. It wracked my little four-year-old body with sobs and I had to be led out of the theater, Bambi - before the movie had even started. I didn't even get my money's worth, that's how sa...
Oh, P....I am SO sorry you began your day that way! If it is any consolation at all....I fall ALL the time, for almost no explicable reason! I can trip over dirt......ask Joel!
I sure hope you feel better hun.....

I tumble for ya
The best way to start your day is not head first down the stairs. I have a reoccurring dream that I fall down the stairs and knock out all of my teeth (teeth figure prominently in my anxiety dreams - dissolving teeth, loose teeth, missing teeth), but this experience was more about clocking my...
Oh, this little house just seems so absolutely divine hun.....I am so glad you are there

Kuntray gurl.
Sorry for the silence, blog babies. My site has been down, due to some kind of screw up at register.com. What a nuisance. I think things are back to normal now, but the thing is that I'm here, at the little house that could and it seems silly to post when the sun is shining and there are a mi...
Oh, this is so lovely Sus.....yes, all the car trips and errands and wistful thoughts as we stared out the car window as the world went by. *sigh*

BACK WHERE I CAME FROM { remembering }
When I was little, we had one car: an early 70's Volvo station wagon in a bright, strange Turquoise color. (I believe the turquoise was on sale, and that was why my parents bought it.) And we drove that car into the ground. It took us everywhere... trips up to Maine...Upstate NY, and out to th...
Ah, yes....so very gorgeous. I too can see how wearing just one would be enough. So classy....

I STILL LOVE THE OLD WORLD { ancient jewelry }
There is a beautiful, relatively new, antiquities wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I had the pleasure of going there last fall, on a bright, sunny day. What is wonderful about the new wing is that there is an abundance of natural light illuminating the objects. And while normally, look...
