carrie! i originally read your comment a couple of weeks ago and should have responded then. i'm easily distracted (obviously!) which i assume is why making a list of small, daily Important Things feels like such a breakthrough to me. i wish you great success with a similar approach! thanks for your comment.

i don't always have much to say either, so i totally hear you on that. i've always wished that words came easier! thanks for the sweet compliment. :)

olya, yesyesyes to all of this. except for the part where you said you are crazier than i am. :) fwiw, i've always loved your photos and style of blogging. i hope you find a balance of blogging that works for you.

this: "i need closure!" made me laugh. that's one of the coolest things about blogging, i think--people being invested in each other's stories.

kelleyn, you're great. :) i like your perspective about putting good things out there. i definitely think there's value in that.

right. a blog is a better place for words than instagram, and i confess the trend of cramming entire sentences into a single unintelligible hashtag is one i won't miss. as far as "thinning the herd" goes, i tend to think there's room for everybody who wants to blog. i reserve the right to have my favorites, though. :)

oh, thanks for this comment, amy! "you know what you're doing even if you don't know that you know". such a positive thought, applicable to so much more than blogging! and i just popped over to your blog. love it so far!

you bring up some good points, kelleyn. and i agree that a blog should always feel authentically "you". where it gets weird/confusing for me is 1) the public nature of blogging and speaking to so many different people/audiences at once (with the same voice?) and 2) the one-sidedness of the conversation. yes, there are comments, and i love those! but having a conversation through blogging is not like having a conversation in person. i can't see into your eyes or hear the inflection in your voice, so i don't know how the conversation is going--if you're bored, offended, shocked, confused, or any other of a million possible responses. if we were talking in person i would care about those kinds of things. you're supposed to care about those kinds of things! as a blogger, i still do. i care about how the conversation's going, and it's hard to know, given the limitations of this form of communication. i guess what i'm saying is that blogging makes me feel deaf, blind and (sometimes) naked. in public. but then i just keep talking? it's weird.
