Interests: I have always loved fiber, but recently even more so. My present love interests at this time are knitting and spinning, but I throw crochet, quilting, latch hook and cross stitch in whenever possible. I'm sure I'm missing a few hobbies here. More to create!

Let's get to it, eh? Here's a bin of what is mostly Caron Simply Soft. At this point in the stashing, you are agreeing with my reaching S.A.B.L.E., aren't you? There's still more, but I may finish this up at some point in the near future. I think I need a yarn will. Do any of you have one? Here's another bin of mostly one pound sizes of Caron. I call this my afghan stash. I've got two more in my closet (don't tell Paul). We'll get to those later.... I'm thinking therein lies the blues, greens, reds, and anything... Continue reading

Here I am again, with the stashing. I'm getting down to some of the old-old stuff in the craft room. I had to stop after while, because I was getting lazy and starting to photograph stuff in bags through the plastic. That is not terribly bad, but I want to be able to see the color really good so I had to take a step back and reflect. LOL Anyway - here's some stuff: Bulky Bits... and more bulky bits... and.... Do you see that ORANGE? I'm not sure what I was thinking when I bought that, although it is... Continue reading

I'm still adding stash onto Ravelry. I was going really good there for a week or so, then I needed a break. I'm a little more than halfway through my stash, I think (probably wishful thinking.... and more like a third of the way). I've added over 200 different yarns onto Ravelry so far. I wonder what the final number will be? Here's the next round of, yep, worsted: Those pink, green socks are done, and I do love those pink toes. matchy matchy too! Next is a pair from my own dyed wool. Love knitting these because no-one else... Continue reading

A couple of bins today of worsted weight. Next is one of my favorite bins - lots of color mixing and self-striping. Maybe I'll knit a project from it next if I ever finish with the stashing. I also found a bag with some kits in it. I'm going to check on Ravelry to see if I can stash the "kit". I don't really want to take the yarn out and stash it separately. More Coffee!! Quickie Today. I found a bin of mostly Patons Classic Wool. Lots of Merino in there that is older. Some of the newer where they removed "Merino" from the package. Boo Hoo. Off to Ravelry to stash them! Continue reading

Today we are featuring the sporty bin. Notice the Knit Picks theme going on..... If I had to take a rough guess, I would say that about 65% of my whole stash is Knit Picks yarn. I slowed way down on the purchasing as Knit Picks' prices went up. Honestly, though, their prices are still cheaper than most. One more side view, and then maybe the bulky next? Or, one of my worsted bins? There may be a few or five of those.... Cooper says its time for dinner, Mom, so the computer must go away! Continue reading

Remember that I wanted to wind those ten skeins of sock yarn? It took a few days but victory was achieved. I had to wind them twice because when winding from the swift the yarn gets too tight and I think it's not good to leave your yarn in that tight of a formation. I heard that somewhere so I may be wrong? Anyway - Score! I can't wait to knit a few of these once I finish my pair that I'm working on now using leftovers. I love these, by the way. So cute! That pink toe! Stashing Update:... Continue reading

I was home from work today, so I decided to pick out 10 skeins of sock yarn that needed to be wound. I'm forever not picking these colorful beauties because I don't have the time to do the winding. So today was the day for winding. For those of you who read my post yesterday I did add my pittance of lace weight onto Ravelry. So far so good. I don't think I lost any friends either. HA! Next I was going to do my cotton and cotton/mix bin. Well.... since the sock yarn bin was open and I was... Continue reading

I was going to wait until June 9th so it would be a full year since I've blogged...... A whole year has gone by. Where did it go? I just looked at my last post to see where I left off... and, yep, finished that green cardigan for my MIL. Have no finished picture of it to show you. She loves it though. Maybe next visit I'll get a picture if she'll let me near it! We got Cooper and I think I lost my mind. That's the only explanation I have. I'm pretty sure my son was easier to... Continue reading

I finished Ginevra, but since it's 80+ degrees out, I didn't put it on. It really should be worn to show off the cool neck, but, we'll make due with these photos for now. I was having a hard time finding a nice lace color to match the pink body as it's worsted and the neck is lace. I had lots of pinks, but none that matched or shaded close (some shaded too close). I finally decided on this blue-gray. I like it, especially with the sparkles and with adding it into the sleeve and hem edges to tie in... Continue reading

So I've had a good two weeks off now, and am plenty rested up. Back to work in a day or so. I've noticed that every year that I take this two week vacation I get less and less accomplished. No energy. No stamina. Comfortable bed in air conditioning. Yeah. I've got at least three posts of stuff to show you, so I think I'll put them all in today and let them post for the next three days. Sound good? Okay - first off, we had lots and lots of fun with a new dog pool and Cooper was... Continue reading

Ginevra is done except for the bit of knitting that goes into the neck area. It's just a straight rectangular piece (36" long) that wraps around the neck and gets sewed in. I'm using lace weight with some sprinkles in it. Since it is a different color than the sweater, but still matchy, I decided to add some onto the ends of the sleeves and the bottom of the sweater so the colors could shake hands and get to know each other, if you know what I mean...... Here's Ginevra and the neck bit - about 10 inches to go.... Continue reading

So my next project is another pullover. It's called Ginevra's Pullover from Interweave Knits, Winter 2010. The construction is intriguing with the lace bit sewed into the neck. I'm using Lion Brand Wool Ease in the Blush Heather Colorway. It's top down, so I'm already under the arms and working the waist shaping. See the big square by the neck? This is where the lace bit gets sewed in. fun fun, plus now I get to do some mindless stockinette stitch for awhile until the body and sleeves are done. The lace bit is even easy. Just a rectangle of... Continue reading

I finished the Big Tile Pullover. You will note that I chickened out and used a light contrasting yarn on the fair isle. I really plan on wearing this a lot and I was afraid if I used a dark contrasting yarn, like red, it would bleed into the pink alpaca and it would become a hot mess. A few changes. I added those ribbed parts on the sleeves because I didn't like the cap sleeves. I've got too much meat on my arms for them. :O) Also, after finishing the tile part I skipped at least 6 rounds of... An update. Still working the Big Tile Pullover and I just finished the beginning of the two sleeves which I will then attach to the body, and start the yoke (the fun part). I'm still up in the air about which colors to use for the diamonds. On one hand I'd love to do something dramatic like red, but then I can see it all bleeding when it's washed. ugh. So maybe something lighter. The jury is still out on that decision. Also, done with one lemon drop sock, and started the second one. I have to get past the... Continue reading

Happy Easter all! He Is Risen!! I promised to show the collar on the Modern Lodge Pullover. It is the first one I've done like this, and it worked out pretty well. You had to knit the collar onto the back of the neck, casting on (increasing) at each end as you went. Here's the collar after I finished: neat, huh? It will eventually get sewn onto the sides and front of the neck opening: Okay, eventually did already happen, but you knew that right? I finished this a week or so ago. But in my defense, I wanted to wait... Continue reading

So I decided that I should blog about my newest sweater project before I finished it. Remember those days when I blogged about a project in stages? Good times. I'm knitting the Modern Lodge Pullover from Lion Brand's website. I'm having lots of fun with all the colors of the Amazing yarn. I'm using the Mauna Loa colorway. Here's the back, front and two sleeves in pieces. Next step is to sew the shoulder seams, and then I get to knit the collar. My first glance at the directions for the collar had me blinking and reading them again. I... Continue reading

Well.... the groundhog said Spring was coming early, and I think our sheep heard the call. Look out - cute lamb pics coming up. at this rate, we'll be done by Easter, way early. let that sun shine in! although, really, it's COLD outside still! and goodness the hay is getting low! even Pearl is enjoying some sun on top of her cat-house. the whole time I was in the barn she couldn't be bothered to see what I was doing. :) Also, time for a new project! Weekday Raglan is finito. It was lots of mindless knitting so I'm... Continue reading

Where'd she go? Here I am. Knitting away on my top down boring stockinette stitch sweater. Yay! This is from Ann Budd's Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters. It's called Weekday Raglan. I'm using Knit Picks City Tweed DK weight in the Lemon Curd colorway. Hopefully I won't run out of yarn as I'm about dead-on with the yardage and I usually use a little more than the patterns call for. I can always make this a 3/4 sleeve sweater if I have to, although, I'd rather not. Cooper? He's still sleeping with his new little buddy. You will notice... Continue reading

I know. I know. But, hey, it's a new year, and I'll try to be here more often. I used to be really good at this BC. What's "BC" you ask? Before Cooper (that darling little Toy Fox Terrier who is now 5 months old). I start and end every sentence with it lately. I used to have a life Before Cooper. Before Cooper, I could sit and knit quietly. Before Cooper . . . fill in the blank. I'm sure whatever you use will work. ha ha It was New Years Eve and I had the whole day to... Continue reading

I have procrastinated so long on this pullover, that I finally took a picture of it when I wore it last. I usually like to take the pictures when the project is laid flat on the table (without me in it) lol, but I had no time. Here's a side view. (Big Mama Dani as Paul would say). Why yes, I have managed to gain all the weight back that I lost last year (and had fun doing it). It fits really good and I like it alot. It's long enough to almost be called a tunic. I did add... Mom can't come to the blog right now. She's too busy chasing me around. I am a spoiled puppy for sure. Here I am laying in my bed. I'm not usually there though. I'm too busy chewing on toys, especially my big big bone that I took away from Sasha. Plus - playing catch with my two ball balls. And silly Sasha is scared of Mommy's camera, so she won't even stand still for a picture of us so you can see I am so much bigger then her (chortle). plus, I'll have you know that my ears are going... This is gonna be a quickie. My house is being invaded by a small terror. I finished and blocked Aunt Tootsie's scarf (shawl) - it came out really nice and I used all of the yarn. She received it and called to tell me that she loves it and was really surprised. She might have mentioned sending another box of wool. lol she wins. I'll keep that one. Folded in half it is perfect for a scarf. Kept unfolded, shawl. Right. Back to the small terror, or should I say terrier. Meet Cooper, my 10 week old toy fox terrier.... Continue reading

Knitting is progressing on the Lace and Rib pullover. I'm thinking one more repeat then I can start shaping the raglan and neck areas of the front. It looks kind of big here, but when I put it against my "girth" it seems like it will fit well. Yep - this means that if I don't lose some weight soon I may have to buy even more yarn to finish projects. HA! When I don't feel like working the lace and ribs above, I work on my new pair of socks. Liking the color distribution of this yarn. Plus, my... Continue reading

A couple of days as promised. I'm on a roll now. Look out Knitters! I blogged twice this month! chortle..... Anyway, here is the Summer Sweetheart Pullover, finito: I shouldn't have procrastinated so much on the sewing up. The sleeves set in really well, and because the patterning is so busy, the sides are forgiving if you don't get it completely right sewing them together. Although I'm sure I got it completely right. LOL - not..... It fits well, and I added another row of crochet to the neck so it wouldn't dip so low. In the interest of killing... Continue reading
