catching wishes embroidery pattern
I have just finished the catching wishes embroidery pattern and it is in my shop today! It is a fairly simple embroidery in terms of stitches, done with a single thread for a sketchy quality. There is a bit of metallic in there but you could swap it for the shiny satiny type thread if you p...

A rethink on the Ikea chair
Last year I found a great fabric to recover an Ikea chair; only it just didn't sit right. Literally I suppose, as well as in look. The fabric was lovely - great colours - but it was a heavy upholstery weight, and I think, just too heavy for the cushions on the chair. So, while visiting one of m...
Am even sewing a new shape bag Vivienne - seems a long time since I did that.
Hope you have a good weekend too.

A little bit of excitement
A couple of months ago, after reading a magazine, I decided to write an article and send it in. Just a small one, but still..... And now it's out there for all to see: It's in this magazine: There's the chance to provide a few more articles, so I'm a little bit happy with it all! (That's ...
Thanks Mia - though no sun here today. Lots of lovely rain though to keep us all going!

Thanks Vivienne - it is such a lovely blog. Both of them. Have decided to just get on and do things rather than waiting for inspiration to randomly strike - always the best way!

Looking for inspiration
But not finding any. Hmm. I do know - in my heart if not in my head - that what's really needed is to be spending more time out of the house. Still a bit difficult at the minute, but this time around it seems such a long time to be basically housebound. Thank the Lord for the internet and al...

That cosmos is Candy Stripe - the seeds were free on the cover of a Gardens Illustrated. And I really like them. Am going to try to collect some seed from them too. And yes - I think a couple of quiet days are needed!

Believe me I have my fair share of disasters with jam making! Either its too runny or its too caramelised (burnt). But when its just right, its perfect. Yum.

Baking and making
I've missed not being able to bake the past few weeks, but have made up for it by reading lots and lots of blogs and books on the subject. A strange consequence of this is that I feel as though I'm a bit 'baked-out' - how is that possible? But jam making is happening - blackcurrant, and my all...
Its very technical Vivienne, and I admire anyone who has mastered it! It has rained pretty much all weekend long, but right now the sun has come out and it actually feels warm again. Hope its the start of a better week for us all.

How lovely to hear from you Anna! We didnt get to Kirkcudbright - saving that for our next visit. It was so lovely to be able to visit so many great nurseries and gardens in such a small area. Definitely worth a visit!

Gardens and nurseries
Last week was spent in Dumfries and Galloway; not somewhere I've been to before, but I did know that there are many lovely gardens and nurseries round about. The cottage was lovely - though no mains electricity or anything; the windmill and the rayburn were wonderful and kept us warm and cosy an...
