How about modify to fit you and crop it (apply existing bottom hem) so it's like a denim shrug or cropped denim jacket?

I bet you're tired of seeing these shirt dresses but you have to admit, they're stinkin' cute! Thanks to Tracy of Amazing Mae and Dana of Made for this design. I finished it with a little hiccup. I didn't adjust... Continue reading

LOVE the color! I say make the fur collar reattachable so you can go with different looks depending on the event and/or mood.

Thank you for your input on the blue vintage dress. You all had lots of good points for me to consider. I know for sure I will shorten it but what else, I'm not sure. It's on hold for now... Continue reading

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm going to shorten it for sure, whether I keep as is or make it into a skirt. I do need to feel confident wearing this and I'm not sure I feel it. I'll put it aside and think about it and all your comments were great so I can add those to my decision making process. Thanks again!

Good idea, I'll do the same in the winter, too. It'll add a little reminder of spring then.

My daughter's preschool class had a party for the mommies on Friday so I wanted to have her new dress ready for it. They had presents for us and a little performance and it was absolutely ADORABLE - I was... Continue reading

I vote for grey. I think yellow may be overwhelming like Stephanie says and takes away from the sprinkles of yellow on the edges (not sure how much of the yellow you want on the edges but I really like it when there's just a little showing). Just a thought, how about taking the strip (w/ unfinished edges) and gathering just a little to create a ruffle that goes down the middle as you describe then put some simple buttons down the middle (like pearls or some covered w/ the grey fabric)? This will either look good or horrible. :) Another take on Stephanie's idea - how about a grey strip down the center (1 - 1.5") and apply yellow satin to the edges? Or instead of just yellow edges, how about using yellow piping along the edges of the strip Look forward to see the completed shirt.

I understand completely b/c that was my biggest problem - not completing projects. This site and my blog definitely have helped me complete projects, although I still have a few I drop here and there but believe me, it's nothing compared to how I used to be! You've got a good attitude about it so I'm rooting for you!

Nice detailing on the top. I browsed yesterday at a couple stores and I saw a lot of tees w/ ruffles similar to yours.

I like how you paired the skirt with the tops because you get such different looks. I especially like the first one w/ the pink top. From the sounds of it you really fixed up the top - looks very sweet. Good job!

I traced a knit skirt of mine for the front and back of the skirt. For the waistband I created a front and back piece a few inches smaller in width as the top of the skirt. I created a tube (sewing the ends together) and turned it right side out then folded it over w/ wrong sides together. The folded part is the top of the waist band. I attached the waistband, right sides together, to the skirt which I had sewn together at the sides. Erica, yes,use your yoga pants to create your skirt because I used my gaucho pattern (McCall's M5398) which is very similar. SKORT - YES!! That's next on my list - it's a pattern already on McCall's 5398. I've been wearing my skirt but it's hard to sit on the ground in it when I'm playing w/ my daughter so I thought a skort would be a more functional way to go.

Thanks ladies! ND, I didn't use a pattern. By the way, the fold over waistband serves an important purpose - it pushes in the pooch! LOL, it really helps. :)

Pink is color. :) Your top is cute, saw that on SMS. How do you like the fit? I am considering making something like it but was concerned about it being too baggy for me - it looks great on you.
