Oooooooooooooh!!!! I finally made it to buy your kit this time! I would LOVE a "boy bunny" kit"; but I just got two with dresses for my daughter, and clothes pattern for the pants and shirt, because she will looooooove them!! (And she would love having a boy and a girl bunny:)) And the more clothes, the more fun she will have:) Can't wait to start making them!!! (Ok, I am slightly excited, and sharing this awesome link with all my co-workers;))
Maggie Rabbit's Back!
Remember Mags? Yep, she's back! You can find her in kit form right HERE! She has one previously available dress fabric and four new ones. There's Betsy: And Danjo (interesting name, but no, I didn't make it up — Liberty made up all of these :). The yarn looks darker here than it does in r...
I totally agree on the grandma sheets; but I think my grandma made hers, and they were also all hand embroidered with monograms on sheets as well as pillows. she always washed them and hung them outside to dry (in cold northern sweden even!) and IRONED them. i am so glad i'm not alone out there! (all my friends think i am CRAZY) Ironing your sheets can really make up for a lower thread count, and they are just so soft. 100 % cotton. always. nothing else.
Spring Sleeping
I was recently given a washing recipe for sheets by the sales associate at Macy's: 1 1/2 cups cheap white vinegar 1 tablespoon detergent Warm wash Warm rinse Extra rinse Perma-press dry Apparently, this recipe was developed by an 84-year-old woman who really knew her sheets. I've always dried ...
Just wanted to say I love your blog, and get tons of inspiration from it! (And cute furry animals to boot!) I wanted to send you this link to a Swedish embroidery company's site:
http://www.vastgotabroderi.se
I have gotten a few kits from them, the kits are very nice and great quality. Just thought they may be up your alley, and fun for inspiration to look at at least! Not really sure where to get the kits from; I got mine in Sweden, some of them have English translations and some of them don't, but they aren't too difficult to figure out I don't think.
Cinny Buns
Thank you for all of the living- and dining-room love! I updated Monday's post with some source information in response to the questions that came in, so check back there for answers. Our downstairs bathroom is pretty much finished, and our hallways have new paint, too, so I'll have more house...
It's only hardcore if you don't know about the 3 previous hours when I was NAPPING ON THE COUCH, he he.
TG Prep to the Wayside
I'm blaming eggnog. Bud's Ice Cream eggnog to be exact. Or maybe whoever spiked it with grated nutmeg & maybe brandy. Which would theoretically be me. Tomorrow is another day. Or, eh, today. Does that mean that I missed a day? We are at least churning icecream. Goodnight.
Rae: I got the fabric at Bobbin's Nest in Santa Clara, CA. I don't remember who actually designed it...
A kick in the ass
Maybe I need it. This is starting to get boring. You can only post so many pictures of wool & needles, right? So we'll add the cute Elliott Super Kitty Model. And the mitts are done. I think it's pretty awesome that I managed to turn the toasters upside down on the straps. Both of them.
yup, it's from EDF, pork loin with a cumin rub and drizzled with some orange/marmalade dealio (Jacob made it). SO GOOD:)
A Typical Sunday
If things work out well, we don't do much besides watch football. That's our requirement for a good Sunday. Call it re-charging your batteries, lazy, whatever. It is important to stop and reflect on things in your life, and how things change. A few years ago when I was jaded about the holida...
No, I had an appt up there:) No yarn purchases (YET!) Did you know that Artfibers have a store again?? It is close to where they used to be, but I haven't checked it out yet...
Holiday Spice
And they canned them! It is pretty nice to have lunch at 21st Amendment, even if you are alone, and in a hurry. The drive home on the other hand was aweful. But the rain is lovely nonetheless. It is absolutely ginormous. Can I keep it, please?
Rae: the color yarn is "saphire magenta".
Abigail: Dammit! Does it help if I say they were good?:) Martha Stewart carrot cupcakes and W-S lemon poppy seed muffins; let me know if you'd like to try to make them:) BUT you finished the apron!! That's awesome!
Rip & Repeat
Step #1: Step #2: No, they are not in the wrong order. It's only the fourth hat using this pattern I've made, you'd THINK I noted how many repeats were needed to fit (anybody). But no. (It's five. And for boy heads, probably 6.) Carrot cupcakes, from Martha Stewart's "Cupcakes", for Tina's...
yup, kai-meis! love them, but have to give them away!
goin' green
Multitasking. Yet another pre-Thanksgiving deadline project. Been uncharacteristically disciplined, only working on things I SHOULD work on. Spur of the moment Holiday project. Worsted weight hand dyed Malabrigo. Absolutely love this yarn. Also started on something warm for Miss EB's foots...
Abigail: LOL, you certainly didn't! But you always have a solution to my whining, and I really & truly appreciate it!!
High Falutin' Parenting Ideas
Eggos were never on my list of what I would feed my child. I don't even like them very much. However, Miss EB LOVES them. How does she know? I gave her one. It's amazing what you do as a parent for a few minutes of silence. We have all been there. Finally came to the conclusion that it's real...
Juls: thank you for the idea! maybe i'll do that next time:) cotton-ease is pretty nice, i've crocheted alot of amigurumi with it, and it's not splitty at all.
i highly recommend tess' baby lace leaf cardigan, it's an easy knit, and so cute. (especially if you make the smallest size). it uses up about as much yarn as a pair of socks, which is perfect.
Summer Weather
With almost-record-breaking heat around the Bay Area, maybe it is time to completely finish Ella's Summer Sweater, she has sort of worn it already, buttons are really not THAT important, are they? Tess' Baby Lace Cardigan. Again. How many have I made? I think this is #6. This time it's out o...
i know i'm late, but i had to pipe in (ha ha funny), but YES, piping, piping, piping! it makes the pillows look SO crisp and nice. the one thing i have a problem with are the corners, it's hard to get them right. also, i find that joanns have a VERY small selection of already made piping, so i tend to always have to make my own (which does look best), but it would be nice to just have some ready made piping laying around for those off the cuff projects. GORGEOUS GORGEOUS pillows! and you kind of owe it to the pillow to do piping since they are so pretty!:)
In Full Bloom
April showers bring May flowers, but with this project you don't have to wait until next month to enjoy the blooms. Fresh flowers abound with this embroidered pillowcase which features a field of delightful, 3-dimensional petals. The unique aspect of this project centers around its fringed fl...
Thank you so much for making this list! You are making it SO EASY for us to just print it and check off the books we're reading to our little girl! Thank you SO MUCH! Even though she's only 10.5 months old, and we read to her a few times a week, we thought she wasn't paying attention, because she climbs on us and is more interested in eating the books, we KNOW she does, because she will sit with her own books and talk to them and giggle. It's the cutest thing, and it makes you feel SO GOOD. Can't wait to find new books to read!
Welcome to the Summer-Reading Booklist!
This booklist is made up entirely of a selection of suggestions from readers of a little blog called Posie Gets Cozy, who generously recommended their favorite children’s titles for inclusion here. It has no particular rhyme or reason, other than that these books are books that Somebody Somew...

LOVED making them, and it sure helps reading about techniques, clearly I didnt have a clue what I was doing before... Watched this video:
http://www.howcast.com/videos/285355-Managing-Yarns-For-Colorwork-Knitting-Daily-TV-Episode-306-With-Eunny-Jang
And her stuff totally ROCKS. I want to make another pair of mitts!
Old Mr Time
The Knitting Olympics project was decided upon. Find the oldest UFO, and just finish it. So Print O' the Wave stole it is. Ok, so I think there may be a sweater out there that's older, but God Only Knows where it is located. That must be worse than a UFO, it's been actually forgotten/misplaced, ...
